Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Boss Lu, I’ve Come to Save You

Qin Zhan was a worldly man, but even he had never imagined that these ferocious and savage demon beasts could do business with Lu Wu in such a gentle and friendly manner. The others couldn’t even begin to fathom it.

Therefore, in the eyes of everyone else, this scene meant only one thing: Boss Lu was in trouble.

She had been captured by demon beasts. They were surrounding Boss Lu, surely performing some evil ritual, waiting for the perfect moment to swallow her whole.

From a high vantage point some distance from the stall, several cultivators watched the scene, their expressions complex and conflicted.

They were the cultivators who had bought ice powder from Lu Wu the day before. They had been exploring various parts of the Secret Realm, but for some unknown reason, the temperature inside was still rising.

For cultivators at the Foundation Establishment and Golden Core Stages, the duration they could sustain themselves with their Protective Spiritual Power was growing shorter and shorter.

Finding their own power insufficient, they chose to consume the ice powder.

The ice powder had a miraculous effect, providing relief to their bodies, which felt as if they were being roasted by the high heat.

However, once the ice powder’s effect wore off, the subsequent assault of high temperatures became even more unbearable.

They had no choice but to return to the stone stele and find Boss Lu to buy more ice powder to keep in reserve.

Of course, there was another option: they could hole up on the very outskirts of the Secret Realm like those Qi Refinement Realm cultivators, where the temperature was still tolerable.

But faced with the temptations of a newly discovered Secret Realm, very few could bring themselves to simply give up.

Fortune favors the bold, and so, Lu Wu became their only solution.

Following an unspoken agreement, the cultivators rushed back to this spot, only to arrive and find Lu Wu surrounded by demon beasts.

Even with a prodigy like Qin Zhan acting as her bodyguard, they didn’t believe Lu Wu could survive an encirclement by such a massive horde of demon beasts.

She was doomed.

That was the fate they had written for her.

’If she wants to live, she’ll need outside help to break free.’

’The Secret Realm is sealed. No one from the outside can get in. The only help available... is us.’

"No, I have to go help Boss Lu."

One cultivator stared at the siege of demon beasts, and after a long moment of hesitation, he made up his mind.

He was one of Lu Wu’s old customers, having known her since she was selling steamed buns back in Xiaohe Town.

’Boss Lu is a good person.’

He loved the delicious food she made.

’The thought of Boss Lu dying here, of his own cravings never being satisfied again...’

’For the sake of another good meal, he had to see if there was anything he could do.’

"Not me. There are so many demon beasts. Going over there is just suicide, isn’t it?"

Other cultivators, however, stood their ground, unmoving.

Although Lu Wu had done them a small favor, they had also paid money for the ice powder. It was a transaction—I buy, you sell. No karma involved, no debts owed.

They pitied Lu Wu’s predicament, but there was no need to risk their lives for someone they had just met.

’In cultivation, the most important thing is self-preservation.’

’If you’re dead, what future is there to talk about?’

Many shared the same idea as this cautious cultivator; most didn’t want to get involved.

After all, the demon beasts looked like they could tear them to shreds with ease.

Some were already thinking of retreating.

If they stayed any longer, they would only end up witnessing the gruesome deaths of Lu Wu and her companions.

But others held a different opinion.

"That may be true, but don’t forget, we’re inside a Secret Realm. You’ve all seen the news on the One World Communication. The entrance can’t be opened from the outside. We have to wait for seven days to pass."

"Today is only the third day."

"The environment in this Secret Realm has already forced us to rely on external items to alleviate the pressure."

"And right now, the only thing that can support our continued exploration of this Secret Realm is Boss Lu’s ice powder. If we stand by and watch her die, it means we’ll have no choice but to retreat to the outskirts for the remaining days."

"Or even... be steamed alive by the Secret Realm."

The man’s analysis was very rational.

He stood his ground, dressed in simple green robes, his handsome face carrying the air of a proper gentleman.

Someone recognized him.

"It’s a disciple from the Divine Doctor Valley, Jiang Yunhe."

"He actually has a point."

They were in the thick of it; they could feel the changes in the Secret Realm better than anyone.

If it was this unbearable on just the third day, who knew if the dangers of the Secret Realm would fully erupt in the final days.

Perhaps towering flames would erupt and incinerate all of them, the outsiders.

No matter how they looked at it, Boss Lu’s existence represented a possible path to survival.

If going meant certain death, they definitely wouldn’t go.

But if going meant seizing a chance to live, that made many of them hesitate.

After saying his piece, Jiang Yunhe didn’t try to incite the crowd further. Instead, he took the initiative and began walking toward the demon beasts.

The reason he was so late was that he had stumbled upon a small grotto-mansion on his way here and made a substantial find.

But because of that, he had lost track of the Fiery Fire Sparrow and even misplaced his One World Communication.

It was only after hearing Boss Lu’s name from these cultivators today that he had followed them here.

He didn’t know what was going on with the demon beasts.

But he knew Qin Zhan.

That was not a man who would simply resign himself to fate. Even when facing an unbeatable enemy, he would carve out a bloody path.

The fact that Qin Zhan hadn’t moved an inch meant there was still room for a turnaround.

He had rallied the others to give Qin Zhan and his group a few more bargaining chips.

As Jiang Yunhe departed, many who had been swayed by his words no longer hesitated.

’If death is inevitable either way, we might as well fight our way toward a sliver of hope.’

"Dammit, I’m in! The worst that can happen is death. Eighteen years from now, I’ll be a hero again anyway!"

A burly man was the first to follow.

With him taking the lead, the others also began to move.

"Saving Boss Lu is saving ourselves!"

"Brothers, charge with me!"

"Charge!"

Cries of "Charge!" echoed across the hills, thick with killing intent.

They were genuinely preparing to bring out their true abilities and fight, and from a distance, their battle lust made the demon beasts turn their heads.

When they turned, they saw a group of human cultivators brandishing all sorts of weapons, shouting about killing them, but the beasts hadn’t even done anything wrong.

Never mind the demon beasts; even Qin Zhan was dumbfounded.

’What in the world is going on?’

"ROAR!"

Demon beasts were not to be trifled with.

Already ill-tempered by nature, they were enraged by the human cultivators’ provocation and let out a sky-shaking roar.

Some of the demon beasts on the periphery took up battle stances.

’Beasts are not to be bullied.’

’This time, the beasts will teach these humans a lesson.’

The two waves of battle intent intertwined, staining the already crimson sky a deeper, bloodier red.

"Boss Lu, I’m here to save you!"

Lu Wu heard this and realized the cultivators had misunderstood. She didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Seeing that the two sides were about to clash, Lu Wu quickly called out to Huohuo.

’Stop fighting, stop fighting.’

’You all, stop fighting!’

"CHIRP CHIRP!"

Huohuo shot across the sky like a sharp sword, appearing swiftly in the center of the battlefield between the two sides. She looked from one group to the other, opened her beak, and spewed a jet of flame, forming a towering wall of fire.

The wall of fire blocked the two sides from each other and successfully halted the impending brawl.

Seizing the opportunity, Lu Wu hurried over to explain.

’Stop, stop, we’re all family here!’
