Chapter 761- Ancestor (01)
Chapter 761: 761- Ancestor (01)
The vault of the Myriad Beasts Sect was exactly what one would expect from an organization with over a million years of history—extremely wealthy, brimming with treasures accumulated over forgotten ages.
Qingyi let his gaze sweep across the room, taking in endless rows of eternal-grade artifacts, some even reaching superior class.
Still, nothing really managed to catch his interest.
He was, quite frankly, far too wealthy.
With his 250,000 G Lust points, he could easily buy half of those high-level artifacts and still have enough left over for treasures of much higher ranks.
In the end, Qingyi merely glanced over everything with an air of disinterest.
"Where’s Yunxi?" he asked, only now realizing he hadn’t seen her, Xue Hua, or Rou’er anywhere nearby.
"Taking care of the wedding decorations... I had the brilliant idea of giving her access to the sect’s vaults, and now she’s not holding back on anything at all," the mighty tiger replied, releasing a heavy sigh.
Qingyi couldn’t help but chuckle softly at that.
"Didn’t the Cosmic Dawn Sect and the Grand Elder of the Cosmic Void Sect support you with that?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
The only response he received was silence from the leader of the Myriad Beasts Sect.
Qingyi sighed.
The man was probably too proud to accept that kind of help.
After a few more moments rummaging through the chest, Qingyi finally settled on an item—a choice that left the face of the leader of the Myriad Beasts Sect frozen in pure confusion.
"A... pot?" The tiger tilted his head slightly, leaning in to examine the young man’s choice more closely.
He took the object from Qingyi’s hands and channeled Qi through it, studying it more carefully.
It was... an ordinary pot.
Well, not exactly an ordinary pot.
It was an eternal-grade artifact, forged in ages past by an ancient master who had loved the art of cooking.
Valuable, no doubt, but compared to the weapons, armor, and defensive artifacts scattered throughout the vault, it was practically useless.
The tiger glanced at Qingyi and placed the pot back into his hands.
"What did you see that was so special about this item?" he asked, his eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"I just want to give it as a gift to a friend of mine who likes to cook," Qingyi replied, shaking his head.
"I lack nothing—neither artifacts, nor talent, nor even beauties. There’s nothing in this vault that really catches my eye."
The tiger stood motionless for a moment, letting the reply settle in.
Then his lips curled into a broad smile, and a booming laugh erupted from his chest, echoing through the vault with such intensity that even some of the nearby artifacts trembled in resonance.
"Ahahahha! Now I understand why my son has such great respect for you, young man—both for your strength and your character! Truly worthy!"
"Such insignificant treasures really shouldn’t catch your attention at all! Hahaha!" The tiger landed a hearty slap on Qingyi’s shoulder, the force of the blow enough to shake most ordinary cultivators to their knees.
"Come on, I’ll take you to meet the ancestor," he said.
Without giving Qingyi even a moment to come up with a reply, the tiger activated a teleportation array, instantly sending them both to the most heavily guarded sacred ground in the entire Myriad Beasts Sect.
It was a strange, dense forest, shrouded in darkness, illuminated only by the flickering glow of fireflies and by flowering trees that pulsed with their own light. Beautiful—and absurdly rich in Qi.
The moment they set foot in that place, Qingyi felt his bloodline tremble within him, as if recognizing something ancestral in the very air.
"Assume your draconic form before you meet the ancestor. You’ll have to go on alone from here," the mighty tiger said, gesturing toward a trail that wound its way between tall, imposing trees.
Qingyi opened his mouth to ask a question, but before he could even utter a word, Bai Hu Lie’s father had already vanished, leaving him completely alone.
"Ah... shit... I just want to go back to my room..." he grumbled, dragging a hand down his face in irritation.
It wasn’t that he’d lost interest in meeting the ancestor of the beast people; he just wanted to improve his bloodline and start studying the Nine Paths of Creation Reversal Art as soon as possible.
With an irritated grunt, he spread his arms wide, and his bloodline flared to life, glowing with overwhelming intent as his body began to transform.
Gigantic, razor-sharp claws tore into the ground, while a colossal shadow rose dozens of meters above the canopy, towering even above the tallest treetops.
The surrounding landscape parted for hundreds of meters, ancient tree trunks groaning as they shifted aside to make way for his imposing presence.
In his draconic form, Qingyi let out a low, irritated growl, his body brimming with raw power as his jaws slowly parted, baring fangs the size of grown men, each as sharp as a razor.
He took a step forward, and the ground shook with a deep rumble.
Each step left behind a massive footprint embedded in the soil, echoes of his colossal weight reverberating throughout the entire forest.
All the vegetation trembled to the rhythm of his movements, and Qingyi’s purple eyes remained fixed on a single figure on the horizon—clearly not human.
It was a bear. Gigantic, with thick brown fur and a body pockmarked with terrible scars—traces of battles that had taken place in lost eras.
Her right eye was missing, and with every breath, a terrible, cavernous growl escaped her throat, sending the nearby leaves into a faint tremble.
Obviously, the creature sensed Qingyi’s presence almost immediately.
With a low growl, her remaining brown eye opened, and her colossal body rose all at once, the ground beneath her paws splintering into fine, web-like cracks.
When her gaze fell upon Qingyi, her lips parted in a hoarse laugh, full of genuine interest.
"Oh... interesting... interesting... so it was you that little Yunxi chose, huh?" The bear took a step forward, her dark nostrils flaring as she sniffed the air, eagerly taking in Qingyi’s scent.
"You smell of mana, of Qi... and of one of those little goddesses from the ancient era..." Her eye narrowed with curiosity. "Tell me, young one, you already know what that book really was, don’t you? Are you interested in recreating the Aether?"
