Chapter 552 – So today is the day I die… huh?
Jianming gripped his saber tighter than ever, his eyes bloodshot as a crimson aura surrounded him.
What damn demons dared to massacre the imperial people like this?
He looked back, watching his son-in-law and the marquis, along with the other dozens of experts responsible for protecting the five-color pavilion, already with their weapons in hand.
“Hm… I was having such a good day…” Jianming sighed, readying his saber.
His eyes fell on one of the demons in the astral body realm, killing thousands of civilians with every strike.
In a second, his body turned into a blur, the air behind him exploding as he disappeared.
When he reappeared, he was face to face with the demon, his saber tearing through the air with frightening power, aligned with the creature’s neck.
To his surprise, the demon did not dodge. Quite the contrary.
It stood still, the blade sinking into the bluish skin of his neck and cutting until it stopped, just before the halfway point.
“It resisted my blow? Impossible!” Jianming’s eyes widened.
That was just a probing blow to test the demon’s power, but that didn’t matter.
It was a blow that should have been able to decapitate any expert in the astral realm if not defended properly.
The demon stood still for a moment, crimson blood dripping from the encounter between his neck and Jianming’s blade.
his lips curled, rising to the point of seeming about to tear, his crimson eyes filled with murderous intent.
In his grip, a saber appeared, similar to Jianming’s, but made entirely of blood.
Immediately, the old man retreated, the demon’s blade passing inches from his face and cutting the tip of his beard.
His hair fluttered as he retreated, just in time to sense five other demons approaching from behind him, all from the ancestral emperor’s realm.
“Damned bastards…” Jianming gritted his teeth, his eyes bloodshot as he rose into the skies. “I’ll have to teach them why I’m known as the Crimson Eclipse Saber!”
His blade flashed again, even more intensely than before, its red aura immediately surrounding his entire body as he prepared.
The six demons advanced at the same time, blades of blood in their fists.
“Fall of the Red Moon!”
The moment Jianming’s voice fell, he became one with his saber, the sharp blade spinning around his body, his aura intensifying to the point that his body disappeared completely.
The demons barely paid attention to that attack, just continuing to advance madly.
They wanted nothing more than to kill that powerful expert and steal his Qi.
The first of them came within a single meter of Jianming, extending his arm and stabbing with his sword.
Before the sharp blade even got close to him, the creature’s hand had already been severed, hundreds of small cuts appearing across his body.
The other five met similar fates, frantically approaching Jianming’s body, only to be immediately shredded by the thousands of cuts he applied around them every second.
It was as if he were a meat grinder, taking the form of a blood moon slowly falling upon the earth.
Jianming suddenly stopped spinning, his body stabilizing and his crimson aura ceasing as he watched the bodies of the demons fall to the ground, cut into hundreds of pieces.
At first, there was satisfaction on his face, but this satisfaction soon disappeared.
The blood of the civilians on the ground immediately began to move, all being sucked toward the torn bodies, gathering cut pieces into an amalgam of blood, flesh, and guts.
Jianming felt a chill run down his spine, his blood immediately freezing.
That… that was a lie, right?
That attack not only cut flesh, it also caused terrible damage to the
soul.
Even if those creatures could revive their bodies, their souls could not
be whole…
Jianming gritted his teeth, gripping his sword tighter than ever, and then charged toward the bodies that were slowly reassembling
themselves.
With his current level of power, he could sense the aura of practically every citizen in that city if he focused his mind.
At a low estimate, he knew that at least five million had already died, with experts above the ancient emperor realm still showing strong resistance to the demons.
To make matters worse, he didn’t know how the rest of the empire
was doing.
What if other cities were also attacked?
Jianming slashed once more, dozens of houses around him being
leveled as his blade tore through the air in front of him without stopping, thousands of Qi slashes continuing to tear the demons apart again and again, preventing them from recovering.
“Die, you-” Jianming barely had time to finish his sentence.
His eyes widened as he turned his body, a blade of blood Qi slashing
toward his body.
He managed to stop it from reaching his heart by a hair’s breadth, but still, the blade struck his shoulder and then exploded.
“Father-in-law!”
“Ugh… you bastard!”
Jin Hao and Jianming’s cries rang out at the same time.
The old man was forced to retreat, clutching his bloody shoulder as the sword slipped from his fists.
He immediately lost strength in his right hand, blood flowing nonstop.
Quickly, he counted the number of demons surrounding them, the numbers rising higher and higher.
Soon, there were more than twenty, with three of them in the astral
body realm.
“Ah…” Jianming’s breathing became heavy, his eyes cold as blood as he extended his left hand.
His saber returned to his grip, and he flashed a broad smile.
‘So today is the day I die… huh?’
The old man’s lips curled up, revealing pure white teeth, clenched
hard enough to make his gums bleed.
He had lived a life devoted to the empire, defending it and its citizens.
What could be more fitting than to die defending the empire?
A cry of agonizing pain reached Jianming’s ears as the marquis, who was fighting alongside Jin Hao, was attacked from behind.
His dantian was torn apart by the creature, and his body shattered.
The sound of an expert of that level having his soul and Qi sucked out of his body was not a pretty sight to hear.
