The Cornflower Witch

Book 3: Chapter 283: Origin Moon Clock

  • Next Chapter

Once the three holy scriptures were in hand, the contents recorded in each mutually corroborated and decoded one another. Much of the information that seemed chaotic when viewed in a single volume suddenly became clear, and the scope of what they contained was exceptionally broad.

Because the three holy scriptures recorded 'Meleranke's' extremely detailed life experiences, including but not limited to how she dispersed her divine station three times to restart her cultivation, how she accumulated experience through countless attempts with different combinations of 'Luminous Moon,' how she established the 'Silver Radiance Church,' and finally how she resolved the 'Mad Crow Riot,' the catastrophe that had swept across the continent.

The experience and insights that could be gained from these three holy scriptures went far beyond those transcendent secret arts; they were also a key to opening and understanding this world.

The world only knew that 'Meleranke' had once saved the entire continent, but did not clearly understand how many setbacks, failures, and wounds she had encountered along the way. Beneath that dazzling halo lay the experience and lessons accumulated from countless dead ends and defeats.

Faced with this vast sea of memories and reflections, Sylutia could not help but fall silent for a moment, rising in respect for that long-departed 'Meleranke.' If it were her in that position, she feared she would hardly have been able to endure so many setbacks and blows, only to find a thread of hope in countless desperate situations.

Calamities that had been resolved would gradually cause people in peaceful times to forget how terrifying they truly were. In fact, had the 'Mad Crow Riot' not been quelled in time, the Fourth Continent might very well have become a horrifying hell in that era. Countless monsters would have run rampant, bizarre plagues would have completely dominated the continent, and eventually spread to the entire world.

No wonder so many people mourned after 'Meleranke's' passing.

Stowing away the three holy scriptures, Sylutia slowly came back to her senses. Unfortunately, this was not the time for reading. The combined contents of these three holy scriptures were extremely extensive, so she would have to find time later to read them carefully.

She stood up again, her gaze sweeping the surroundings.

She had thought there might be remains or relics of the 'Silver Moon Dragon' here, but it seemed there were none.

According to the records in the three holy scriptures, 'Meleranke' had also searched through various means for things left behind by the 'Silver Moon Dragon,' and the 'Land of the Moon' was the first target back then.

After investigation and verification by the 'Silver Radiance Church,' the 'Silver Moon Dragon' had made preparations well before its death. It had not stayed in the 'Land of the Moon,' but instead found another hidden place to bury its remains. In fact, this was a very farsighted decision, because the Hours had far higher standing than mortals. Even a single dragon scale from its body was a priceless treasure to many ordinary people.

If the 'Silver Moon Dragon' had died here, its remains would likely have been stolen by various factions within a century. That was certainly something it would not have wanted to see.

Knowing that this was all the 'Land of the Moon' had to offer, Sylutia no longer had any regrets and prepared to return to reality. But before leaving, she remembered something and plucked a few branches and tender sprouts of purple jacaranda.

She recalled that long ago, a familiar friend had asked her to find purple jacaranda. Fortunately, she had finally encountered this legendary rare plant today.

Gathering the purple jacaranda branches and 'lunar phase crystals,' Sylutia's form dissolved into firefly-like streams of light, departing the 'Land of the Moon.'

.....

Half a day later, she awoke from her dream and slowly sat up.

Looking at the familiar scene of her bedroom, Sylutia felt a wave of warmth and nostalgia, like a traveler who had been away for a long time finally returning home.

Although it was only a dream, the feeling was very similar.

She got out of bed and walked to the living room, then raised her hand. A faint purple glow shimmered, and a branch of purple jacaranda appeared in her palm.

At that moment, a gentle breeze passed through the house. Sylutia's long black hair slowly faded, first to coffee brown, then shifting to light brown translucence, and finally settling into a soft silver.

The eyes beneath her hair blinked slightly, and the irises behind trembling lashes shifted to a beautiful emerald green, sparkling with flecks of light. She carefully observed and examined the condition of the branch in her hand.

It had been quite a few years since she last used the 'gardener' ability. But now, with use, those dormant memories quickly awakened, and habitual secret arts unfolded naturally as she continuously analyzed the branch's condition.

【Purple Jacaranda Branch】(Eighth Tier·Superior): A plant that blooms in the 'Land of the Moon.' It does not seem to have been planted by the later Hours but has another origin. Before blooming, its flowers absorb and condense the power of 'Luminous Moon.' It can also be made into ordinary flower tea that heals wounds of the spirit.

Back when she was in the Asra District, Ying Zi had asked her to find purple jacaranda in the 'Land of the Moon.' She had explored the 'Land of the Moon' several times afterward but never found any trace of it. She had assumed the other woman had misremembered and planned to bring some silver wax tree branches to Ying Zi instead.

Unexpectedly, this time, before reaching the top of the hill in the 'Land of the Moon,' she truly discovered purple jacaranda. It could be considered a wonderful stroke of fate.

Had she not agreed to that commission back then, she probably would not have so persistently walked every corner of the 'Land of the Moon,' nor would she have seen this grove of purple jacaranda trees, nor ultimately obtained this 'holy scripture.'

Sylutia recalled the wonderful chain of fate brought by past events, then put away the branches.

Next time she went to the Asra District, she would bring them to Ying Zi. But for now... she looked at the 'lunar phase crystals' accumulated in her hand.

It was time to begin her advancement.

Sylutia opened the door to the basement and found the items specially prepared for her by the 'Mithril Clock' and 'Origin Hourglass' schools, including quite a few precious treasures.

'Teruistar Silver' (Sixth Tier·Perfect)

'Aisetis Silver' (Sixth Tier·Perfect)

'Vortex Time Crystal' (Sixth Tier·Perfect)

'Saint Yage Gem' (Sixth Tier·Perfect)

Two of these rare metals were refined by the sages of the 'Mithril Clock,' the 'Vortex Time Crystal' was crafted through the supreme secret arts of the 'Origin Hourglass' school, and the 'Saint Yage Gem' was made by a sage of the 'Gem School.'

Even Seventh Tier sages would need to pay a considerable price to obtain these incomparably rare materials. After all, producing Rare-grade items was one thing, but Perfect-grade items could only be occasionally produced even by them.

Looking at the boxes laid out before her, Sylutia marveled at how priceless these items were. If not for the support of the three Majesties, even Sage Aitos would have found it difficult to gather everything in such a short time.

After taking out these materials, Sylutia began the first step of crafting the 'Moon Clock.'

First, she used 'Teruistar Silver' to craft the main structure and gears of the 'Moon Clock.' Then she used 'Aisetis Silver' for the dial and certain components. After that, she inscribed one hundred and seven cyclic runes into the 'Saint Yage Gems' to serve as the foundation stabilizing the entire 'Moon Clock.'

These 'Saint Yage Gems' could harmonize with the 'Teruistar Silver,' providing powerful protective effects for the entire 'Moon Clock,' automatically repairing minor damage and keeping the 'Moon Clock' in optimal condition without wearing down over time.

Next came the creation of the complex and serene internal structure of the 'Moon Clock.' 'Aisetis Silver' was exceptionally suited for crafting highly precise creations and possessed certain spacetime properties, perfectly meeting the 'Moon Clock's' requirements. Then came the clock bearings and components made from 'Vortex Time Crystal,' which likewise possessed powerful 'time' attributes and could be used to amplify runes and secret arts that manifested 'time' characteristics.

Following that came the crystals representing the tick marks on the dial. Sylutia refined the 'lunar phase crystals' into twelve 'lunar phase crystals' of different forms, representing the waxing and waning of the moon.

Finally, the hands were embedded. Two slender silver-blue metal hands, differing in length, each had a small, finely cut crystal of a different color set into them. One was a rosy red like a rose, the other a light blue like sky meeting sea.

Sixteen days passed. Under Sylutia's devoted, sleepless focus, the final 'Moon Clock' was successfully completed.

The silver clock floated in the air, its outer rim featuring a crescent moon structure, set with crystal gems of various sizes like stars adorning the sky. Then came the dial in the center, its deep blue color like a vast starry night, upon which sat twelve exquisite lunar phase crystals of different shapes. The central hands bore a graceful curve in the middle, but both head and tail were straight as needles.

【Origin Moon Clock】(Sixth Tier·Legendary)

'A special clock crafted from numerous rare metals and gems using profound and precise techniques. It is the perfect product of a mage practicing their knowledge, skills, and Path, integrating all into one. It can serve as the core for a mage's advancement.'

'Legendary Grade,' going one step beyond 'Perfect,' allows a creation to surpass its limits without raising its tier, achieving strength and effects exceeding creations of a higher tier. The creation of items of this grade often surpasses people's imagination.

Normally, if a mage advanced from Fourth Tier to Fifth Tier, the minimum requirement was only a 'Fourth Tier' core creation. If a mage with greater ambitions hoped to go further in the future and surpass most of their peers after advancing, they would prepare a 'Fifth Tier' core creation. And preparing a 'Sixth Tier' core creation when advancing from Fourth Tier to Fifth Tier was extremely rare in the history of the Mage Alliance.

Each tier crossing represented a dramatic surge in power, and also demanded a higher level of understanding and mastery over knowledge and skills. The gap between each tier was often nearly tenfold, and crossing two tiers meant nearly a hundredfold.

Therefore, even if ordinary mages could obtain sufficient resources and materials, they would not dare attempt it lightly. Because creations that were too powerful were often beyond what they could control and command during advancement. In the end, it would backfire, causing the advancement to fail and inflicting severe damage upon themselves.

This time, Sylutia's preparation of such a creation was only made possible through repeated discussion and revision by the three Named Ones, who finalized the specific advancement plan. If it had been left to Sylutia alone, she would not have easily dared such a risk.

Looking at the magnificent silver clock slowly floating in her hand, a sense of satisfying achievement rose in Sylutia's heart.

It had been very tiring and had taken a lot of time, but she was also happy and satisfied. It was worth every effort.

Having obtained the Moon Clock, she began to arrange the final ritual magic array, preparing to formally advance.
