Chapter 974 - 972-What’s The Issue?
Chapter 974: Chapter 972-What’s The Issue?
There was only silence. Silence as far as one could hear. The ones watching in the open and the ones watching in secret could only gaze with their mouths wide open. I could sense it. I could see it all. A mix of sheer awe, excitement, surprise, fear, and more. A collection of feelings coming together. Especially the negative emotions swirling in between all that, just beginning to leak out. I could feel them all. Almost taste them.
Turning my gaze away, I looked at Eldon, who was standing up. His gaze filled with the same awe mixed with fear, and the same thought of not being able to believe what was happening in front of him. From every literal point of view, this all just seemed and looked like some kind of fantasy dream that couldn’t possibly happen in real life. But it was happening.
’One of my goals is accomplished.’
I thought. I decided to take this action after a lot of thought. This wasn’t just to address the current situation, but also to address several other interconnected situations. Remember me telling you that I need to deal with the ’spells’ and ’surveillances’ that have been placed on me? Yeah. This is the perfect time to deal with that, too.
’I also need to keep the time restraint in place.’
I had more minutes of this power level left in me. By now, one minute had already passed. Flashing myself, I arrived on the outside. All of the guards and members of the war council who were there were now thrown outside. All of them were arranged right outside the steps of my tower, as they all looked beaten and worse for wear. Though I made sure not to leave any kind of lasting damage. But it’s definitely going to hurt like hell.
"You all look good."
I said with a smile. Making the Imperials, now standing up a little better all around. When I punched them, I made sure to use my aura and mana to lock away their powers. Of course, I am only able to do that because I am currently at my level. Others wouldn’t be able to touch it at all. So it’s safe to say right now they are weak.
Though that doesn’t mean they don’t have any kind of stuff to heal themselves. Soon, all four of them were looking good and well again. But their eyes were bloodshot and filled with anger and humiliation as they looked at me. I smirked at it. Still using that cool thing of floating some inches above the ground as I folded my shoulders, glared at them, and asked.
"What? Want more beatings or what?"
My words made the three lesser Imperials flinch. While the main guy, the elf, still looked at me, all calm and stuff. Dude definitely wasn’t panicking as he arranged his dress all right and spoke.
"What you have done now will have consequences. So what if you have beaten us all up and thrown us all out, too? In the end, this power you have will go away, and the consequences of all your actions will catch up to you."
The words were true in every sense of the way. I did beat them all up and raise the prestige of the tower association. But that doesn’t mean I can kill them or that the problem is solved. The main issue still exists. I was just prolonging it. Not to mention the consequences of the beating I gave will also come back to me.
’This is why dealing with smart old fogies is a pain in the ass. They know how to play the cards all right.’
Musing on that thought, I looked at the four of them in front of me. With several members of the war council spread all around getting better. With those ships still floating in the sky. Taking all this in, I spoke.
"I heard that my archery tower was under sudden investigation due to the connection towards corruption. A mention that perhaps some kind of corrupted member was formed within this place, right?"
My words were loud as they spread around everywhere for miles. This was a show. And I am making sure I will be the one in full control of it. Thus keeping everything in check. I also made sure that the words being said by this dude in front of me and others would definitely spread all around.
I saw the leading elf frowning at the situation I was setting up. The coincidence in my words made him understand that something was going wrong.
"Whatever it is, it’s for the privacy and action of the war council to take action."
’He is stalling for time.’
Taking that final inch in, I called out to Eldon, who was listening nearby.
"Eldon, what was the reason for their actions? That guy with those loose lips must have said everything needed."
To the sudden attention, Eldon, though surprised, held his head right as he replied.
"They came in with the accusation that QuiverLord Draxton was corrupted. That a whole tower under our lead was actually working for the side of corruption."
These words spread far and wide, earning gasps and attention from everyone. The expressions of several members turned serious. While I could see that the reporters were having a field day recording and taking all of this in. Normally, Eldon wouldn’t have said all this quite openly like this. But he did because of the assurance I gave him.
"I see. That is indeed a huge accusation and a problem. But I did have talks with QuiverLord Draxton, and he is fine and completely normal. This action by the war council violates the agreements that were made."
As I said these words, I snapped my finger. The sound travelled far and wide as space seemed to crack apart. A figure walked in from that crack. And under the eyes of everyone, Draxton was seen. Though he wasn’t all that good because he just fell through the crack right into the ground, looking all beat up and bad. Chains were kept around him, and there were clear signs of torture.
’Good thing I didn’t kill him and kept him for torture’
Draxton couldn’t even respond to anything as he fell to the ground and was trembling away. He was definitely very hurt and scared.
"I need to take some loss here to gain a bigger advantage. Though I will remember this very well."
"Young lord!"
Draxton called out with fear and anxiety.
"QuiverLord Draxton, it seems that the war council is under the impression that you are corrupted and we are hiding it from the world. Did anything like that ever happen?"
To my words, Draxton looked truly confused at those words. Like he couldn’t understand what they meant. He kept shaking on the ground in fear, literally full of fear as he said.
"Young lord, please forgive me! Just kill me, kill me!"
Draxton kept begging with those words, and everyone only seemed to be even more confused. I could feel several of my own members going pale at the situation, not understanding what was happening. But I kept my cool, looked at the leading elf, and seemed to forget everything else as I spoke.
"Please go ahead and see if there is any hint of corruption around him. If not, the war council will have to pay a huge price."
At my words, the leading elf narrowed his eyes. His gaze seemed thoughtful, after which he gave a nod. So a member, trembling a bit, walked closer towards us, holding some kind of device and started to scan around. And within a second, a response came.
No Corruption Detected...
And that was enough to spread it all. The truth of their words falls high and low.
"We need to-"
"If you are going to tell that you need to check through all the others to be sure, you don’t need to. I have already checked it through, and my word should be enough, right?"
The end of my words was teasing, and I could tell that this hit that elf dude a bit hard. Because they were the ones who did everything and spread everything to raise me into a huge hero all around. One that can lead the new age in fighting corruption. Thus, I, in this level of power, meant that I had the authority to say that they are free.
"Thanks to my ability and blessing, no corruption can hide from me. Especially when I am at this level. So any difference in power won’t work. Right now I say it’s clean, which means... It’s clean."
My words didn’t end there. My hand reached out to grab the hair of Draxton. As I pulled him hard, I spoke.
"And don’t go saying I healed him or something. Even then residual connection will exist. And even now I am willing to throw him to a truth test and see if he was ever corrupted."
The last of my words caused the words the elf wanted to say to stop at his throat, unable to get out as he looked between poor Draxton and me, looking all beat up.
"And as for why QuiverLord Draxton looks like this, that is our internal matter. If there is no corruption, then our internal matter will not be yours to deal with."
