The Conquerors Path

Chapter 890 888-Focus On This First.

'Hey, at least I am taking away from his hands some dangerous yandere-like women'

[Yeah, sure, keep telling yourself that.....]

I chuckled inwardly at the smug remarks of the system, my mind reeling through it all while playing several situations simultaneously. The harder ones to deal with are indeed the non-lustful type, the innocent protagonist that somehow seems to be able to bind the love of the girls to them without even knowing that these girls have feelings for him.

It's the best way to regard them, which grants them solace from being called a cheater. That skill to make them fall in love without even knowing about it is what makes it such that the guy isn't called a cheat. It's just natural, one can say, but it's different with the new guy. He will effectively chase after them, and it will be quite the scene, which I will be able to use to my advantage.

'He will be quite built up from his desires'

A small smirk came to my face as I thought of all the plans I had already made. Thinking about this, my focus shifted for a moment, and my senses picked up Silva reaching the room. Soon, what was recorded in that stone would bind the two women to a path I had laid out for them—one where they would become my backers of their own choice.

'If it works out well, it might even give them some small level of solace...'

....

Third Person POV:

Silva walked into the room of her master, her gaze falling onto the stone on the table that had yet to be activated. A stifling silence filled the room as she entered, her gaze holding towards the brooding face of Eleanara, who seemed to be in deep thought, her expression matching one of someone who is going through a lot.

Normally, Silva would let it be, but this time there is an added need for some things to change here. With calm, focused steps, Silva walked towards her master, her steps bringing Eleanara out of her thoughts as she looked at her best friend. Silva had a small smile on her face, one of many complex feelings, as she spoke.

"Guess the young man hit upon our past, didn't he?"

Her question made Eleanara have a wry smile on her face as she replied.

"I never thought I would have my heart beat from passion like that ever again. He somehow seemed to have gone forth to press at my most guarded position, and that smile and words of his, it sounds like...-"

"You"

Silva finished the words for Eleanara, who, with that wry smile, nodded her head. She has ruled over this palace and this place for a long time. She has given the king the powerful heir he needs. In return, she has stayed loyal and locked herself up here, hiding herself from the harsh world out there that always seemed to remind her of what she had lost or given up.

The only one other time she had even fought after coming back was to get the heart of that man—not for any sense of guided love but because it was what her parents wanted for a certain sense of peace to settle. She had gone against it with half a broken heart and closed passion, which had lost against her biggest rival, Valdris. In fact, Eleanara understood why she had lost.

Back then, when she contended for that man's heart, she was already half into a whirlwind of broken passion, making her not even give it her all. Even the man knew she was nothing more than just some sort of walking, moving robot at that point in time. So she had given into that fall, going deeper into the abyss.

So Eleanara ended up using herself on the king. She gave him the most powerful and stunning queen, while also giving him the backing he wanted from her faction. In truth, she got to settle herself here, and with some time, she had gotten back her passion. The sad part of it all is that even after living so long with the king, giving him everything he wanted in power and an heir, it seems she still feels she never got his genuine love for her.

No matter how hard she had worked, no matter how well she tried to be in, in the end, Eleanara ended up as a loser in life—not even getting the full eye of the king, who one can be contested with only even being able to hold his crown with great stability due to all the help and backing she gave him. Yet, she never got everything from that man.

All in all, that brought the beautiful woman that had led several innovations for the future, one that had tried to guide the world towards a certain level of goodness and hope, had died down. And at some point, she had turned into a bitter, hateful, and broken part of that, living herself locked away with chains she put on herself.

Eleanara knew beyond doubt that the chains she put on herself were of her own choice, which meant to say the only way to escape from them could only be done by her. But she couldn't bring herself to do it. As years passed by, those chains only got tighter and tighter, and her life only became more mundane and static, without any change or sparks.

Eleanara had focused herself to live that life, to end it all with such motion that didn't have any sort of happiness to it. But in a long while, in a long time, her heart and passion were shaken for a moment. Living this life as a queen had only gone forth to show her the darker side of society even more, teaching her how bad it was.

The lies, the deceit, the darkness—everything only went forth to show how naive and innocent she was back then. Her faith in people or anyone barely stayed anymore. But after a long time, and for the first time in years, she has forgotten to count, her heart shook like no other, her passion ablaze for a moment, and it was due to the one young man that looked like the past her.

"That innocence, that smile, that will to never break, that path forth, it was all beautiful yet stupid....."

Eleanara spoke as Silva sat in front of her with a small smile on her face, letting her master vent.

"I didn't like it. I didn't like that he was still trying on, the fact that he still holds such innocence at his young age with such power and prestige. There can be no way he got it without doing anything dirty, right? After all, that's only how you can succeed in this world...."

Eleanara's bitter words were filled with everything she had seen and understood, yet she felt no such malice from that young man. He was already a hero to the world, holding a certain ability that can be regarded as the most important one the world has ever come to see. Yet, she saw no arrogance, that darkness of power, the corruption it does to one.

All she saw was an amazing, innocent, and shining young man that seems to have seen the darkness of the world, thrived in it, and chose not to embrace it. Yet, he has chosen to walk the hardest path there is—one that guarantees a lot of pain, sadness, heartache, and ending in the path he is walking.

"He seems to know of all the pain he would one day face, yet he still wishes to walk through the most dangerous path that embraces the easy shortcut to pain, and he will not break. The will he showed us said so. He is, in all aspects of the word, an exceptional young man."

Silva added, and Eleanara couldn't deny it. Her gaze, a bit vacant, looked at the ceiling. She felt as if her mental strength was losing its touch. A certain sense of admiration bloomed in Eleanara's heart as she thought of that young man. She could tell that he would either change the world or be broken by it. There would be no other way in between that.

"He seems to have become all the aspects of what I had once admired to become, yet looking at him only made me more annoyed and a bit hateful..."

Eleanara murmured, looking at the ceiling, after which she focused on her friend as she spoke.

"It seems I just didn't want to accept the fact or even see the fact of what I could have once been if I didn't break. Looking at that young man sitting across from me had only gone forth to remind me of just how low I have fallen. His self acted as a mirror, showing me all of my filth, and it felt nauseating......."

With shaking eyes, Eleanara felt the sudden stiffness of her friend's posture, her eyes narrowing as she asked.

"What is it?"

To which Silva, trying to hide her thoughts, was taken out of surprise, spoke with a hesitant expression.

"That boy seems to know more about us than he let on. I-I have a feeling that the recording stone has something special to show us."

Her words held back all the negative emotions of Eleanara for a moment as she looked at the dusty stone on the table. The actions of her friend brought certain suspicions to the mind of Eleanara as she soon went forth to take the stone from the table. She looked at it after a moment, then passed her mana onto the stone.

As her mana filled the stone, it seemed to shake, twist, and turn. Seemingly, a rumbling sound came from it, after which a certain projection burst forth from it, filling the room. And the gathering that appeared from the stone made the eyes of both Eleanara and Silva tremble like nothing before.
