The City’s Strongest Son-in-law
Chapter 1654 - 1653: Handling Some Business
How could someone like this even exist in this world? This shouldn’t be, it makes no sense at all!
If he could choose, Hamm would rather be mocked and looked down on for the rest of his life than come here with his men, deluding himself into thinking he could kill Su Changfeng.
Whenever he thought about what he had done, Hamm felt a deep regret in his heart. Back then Su Changfeng had already shown him mercy and let him go, but who could have thought Hamm would still end up handing over his own life like this.
Bluntly put, the fact that Hamm had ended up like this was entirely because he had played himself to death.
Looking at these guys all kneeling neatly in front of him, Su Changfeng’s face showed no expression at all, even after what he had just done to Hamm’s subordinates.
Because in these people’s hands there had to be plenty of other lives already, so even if Su Changfeng killed them, it didn’t really matter; you could even say he was carrying out heaven’s justice.
But the Wang Family’s people were different. These people hadn’t done anything truly outrageous or evil, so Su Changfeng had no need to wipe them all out.
Su Changfeng walked over to Hamm, looked at him and said slowly, "You must be very curious why, when I clearly could’ve killed you before, I didn’t. You want to know why, right?"
Hamm stared at Su Changfeng in terror, not daring to say a word.
He really had been curious about the time Su Changfeng let him go, but Hamm had simply assumed that Su Changfeng didn’t dare go up against the organization backing him.
That was why he thought Su Changfeng had let him go so directly. But looking at things now, his thinking back then was completely impossible.
After all, Hamm now fully understood just how terrifyingly strong Su Changfeng was, so he no longer believed someone like Su Changfeng would be afraid of the organization behind him.
If Su Changfeng wanted to, he could wipe out every last person in their organization at any time!
Su Changfeng looked at Hamm and went on, "Because for me, I actually don’t want to get blood on my hands."
Even though Su Changfeng said that, after seeing all the people Su Changfeng had just killed, Hamm couldn’t help feeling that his words sounded a bit ridiculous.
Hamm swallowed a mouthful of saliva and said to Su Changfeng, "If... if you’re willing to spare my life, I’ll do whatever you want!"
Su Changfeng nodded at that. Back then he had agreed to that man that he would find the one who had killed his son.
In fact, for organizations like theirs, they were not supposed to reveal their clients’ information, because that would bring them certain negative consequences.
But now that things had developed to this point, Su Changfeng didn’t believe Hamm would still keep his mouth shut and refuse to talk.
So Su Changfeng looked at Hamm and said, "Your status shouldn’t be low, right?"
"Yes, in the future this organization will basically be mine!" Hamm replied in a hurry. Although he didn’t know why Su Changfeng suddenly asked this, in order to save his own life, he still answered honestly.
Su Changfeng nodded. He hadn’t expected Hamm’s rank in their assassin organization to be this high, which was actually helpful for what he wanted to ask next.
Since Hamm’s position wasn’t low, if these things were left for Hamm to investigate, it should be easy enough for him to find out.
So Su Changfeng looked at Hamm and said, "There is indeed something I need you to do. It’s a job your organization took a long time ago. You just have to tell me who came to you back then and hired you to do it."
Hamm quickly nodded. If that was all, then he might really still have a chance to go on living in this world.
However, Hamm knew this wouldn’t be easy, because the clients’ information was usually known only to the head of their organization—his father.
Hamm looked at Su Changfeng and said, "If we want to find out what happened back then, we have to check the old records, but those are kept in a classified place. I can’t get in."
Su Changfeng smiled and said, "So what, are you trying to get me to kill you?"
"No, no, that’s not what I meant!"
Hamm blurted out anxiously, which showed just how terrified he was right now.
"Although I can’t get in there at the moment, since you’ve said it, I’ll definitely get to the bottom of what happened back then for you!"
Su Changfeng nodded and said, "But how do I know you won’t lie to me?"
Hamm fell silent at that. He himself didn’t know what he could do to dispel Su Changfeng’s suspicion.
After a moment of silence, Hamm said, "If possible, I’ll do whatever you want me to!"
Su Changfeng didn’t speak. After a while he finally said, "Alright then, go back."
"What?" Hamm stared at Su Changfeng in shock, unable to believe things had gone this smoothly, that Su Changfeng was actually willing to let him leave just like that.
"I’m not letting you go because I trust you. I’m letting you go because I’m confident that if I want to, even after you return, I can still kill you."
Su Changfeng looked at Hamm and said, "You saw what happened just now, so you know what I’m capable of. I’m giving you a chance; don’t waste it."
Hamm felt a wave of shock. Just now, Su Changfeng hadn’t even touched the men he’d brought, yet they still died here on the spot!
Even though Hamm still didn’t understand how that had happened, he knew clearly that Su Changfeng was someone he absolutely could not afford to provoke anymore.
Hamm nodded quickly and said, "I understand, I get it!"
"Since you do, what are you still doing here? Hurry up and go find out what really happened back then," Su Changfeng said lightly.
Hamm hurriedly scrambled up from the ground and then stumbled away.
After Hamm left, Wang Wenli was extremely anxious. Even if he could just walk away now, what about the rest of his family?
By this point, Wang Wenli was also filled with regret.
