The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World
Chapter 848: Ability Determines Status
Chapter 848: Chapter 739: Ability Determines Status
As Xia Anni was dining, her manager watched her expressions and movements intently, checking how she was doing while eating, and whether she showed any signs of retching.
Seeing Xia Anni finish the chicken, the manager’s eyes lit up, and she quickly reached out to push the particularly exquisite and beautiful papaya cup in front of Xia Anni.
Though the papaya had been thoroughly cleaned inside and out during carving, its color and aroma were too unique.
Especially with the warm papaya soup inside, the unique flavor was particularly rich.
Xia Anni glanced at the papaya cup, first attracted by the delicate carvings on it, then noticing the clear soup inside the cup.
“Is this for drinking? Do you eat the papaya cup as well?”
Fu Yu smiled and explained, “This medicinal dish is vinegar ginger papaya; you just need to drink the soup inside. The papaya cup is for decoration.”
Xia Anni couldn’t help but remark, “Chef Fu, you really put your heart into making this medicinal dish.”
Hearing this, the others who had been observing Xia Anni’s dining experience nodded in agreement simultaneously.
Indeed, this table of medicinal dishes was extremely well-crafted.
The ingredients and recipes for these dishes were quite ordinary; even Li Zongming could come up with medicinal dishes with similar effects.
However, in terms of presentation, even Yao Shi felt that he couldn’t compete.
This idea, this creativity, these culinary techniques, an average person wouldn’t even think of, let alone achieve such a culinary level.
Rather than being brilliant for the choice of dishes, these medicinal dishes were precious for their presentation.
Xia Anni took a spoonful of vinegar ginger papaya soup. The soup was very clear, with a rich fragrance of papaya when smelled.
Upon tasting, however, there wasn’t the expected sweet flavor; instead, it was sweet with a tang of sourness, but before the sour-sweet taste could spread in her mouth, a strong spiciness surged up to her head.
Xia Anni couldn’t help but squint her eyes!
This really contained vinegar and ginger brewed together!
But how come I didn’t smell any ginger scent earlier?
Furthermore, the spiciness of the ginger hit strongly for just a moment upon entry, then quickly subsided, returning the mouth to the original sour-sweet taste.
Stimulated by the strong ginger spiciness, surprisingly, the sweet fragrance of papaya didn’t become unbearable.
Xia Anni smacked her lips; truth be told, this flavor was quite unique. At least for her, though a bit stimulating, it suppressed the nausea she usually felt after eating.
The papaya cup looked deep, but it actually only held half a cup of vinegar ginger papaya.
Xia Anni drank it down easily in several sips, without feeling nauseous.
I’d only heard that sucking on ginger helps with car sickness, but I didn’t expect it to work wonders for nausea too.
Yet the aftertaste of vinegar ginger papaya was quite strong; Xia Anni’s mouth felt sour and spicy, and it seemed like everything she’d eaten was burning away in her stomach.
However, she didn’t have the usual bloated feeling after eating; rather, there was a slight heartburn, and an urge to eat something else to suppress it.
This time, without waiting for the manager to react, Xia Anni turned to look at the long, narrow porcelain plate set in the middle of the dining table.
It was filled with a row of pastries.
Some of them were sakura-shaped, some shaped like cute little animals, very small, pale in color, and didn’t look greasy or heavy.
The heartburn in her stomach was growing strong, and looking at this plate of pastries, Xia Anni rarely felt a bit of appetite.
Compared to the animal shapes, she preferred the sakura-shaped ones.
Not sure where they got the molds from, but the pastries made were indeed beautiful.
Also, the pastries were very much to her liking; they didn’t appear greasy and didn’t seem overly sweet.
Xia Anni picked up a piece and turned to ask Fu Yu, “Is this pastry also a medicinal dish?”
Fu Yu nodded, introducing, “Yes, this is called Five-White Sweet Cake. It aids in boosting energy, appetite, spleen health, whitens and nourishes the skin, and removes blemishes.”
Initially, Xia Anni didn’t pay much attention, but when Fu Yu mentioned its skin-whitening benefits, her interest perked up.
So it has a whitening effect too!
This is great!
Eating pastries for fair and smooth skin is safer and more reassuring than getting whitening injections or taking medication.
Stars are prone to the occupational ailment of being obsessed with beauty.
This time, Xia Anni didn’t need any encouragement and eagerly tasted the Five-White Sweet Cake herself.
The taste was just as she imagined, not overly sweet or greasy, with no extra filling, and the flavor was unimpressive.
Yet, knowing it could whiten her skin, even though she felt she couldn’t eat more, she persevered and had a couple more bites.
Finally, fearing nausea, she also ate two honey-glazed cherries.
The medicinal dishes prepared specifically for Xia Anni were almost finished.
Besides the Five-White Sweet Cake, she ate only one piece, but even the honey-glazed cherries were eaten up.
When the dishes on the table are finished, it’s a very direct approval of the chef’s culinary skill from the customer.
At this moment!
Fu Yu had succeeded!
The manager excitedly looked at the empty medicinal dishes, feeling a wave of relief as though having found a savior!
Thankfully, they found Chef Fu!
If not, Xia Anni’s condition would have only worsened, and then she might have had to entirely end her acting career!
In that case, if Xia Anni faltered, all those staff would have to pack their bags and head home too.
