She snorted softly, a vicious, triumphant glint in her eyes. ’I don’t care if Vera Xavier knows about her background or not. Her very existence is a huge threat to me. I have to find a way to get rid of her!’

’Even if Vera Xavier has Winter Sullivan’s and Sheldon Caldwell’s approval now, as long as I, Susan Caldwell, am around, she can forget about ever getting past Julian Caldwell!’

A hint of displeasure flashed in Susan Caldwell’s eyes; she didn’t like people physically blocking her way. She frowned slightly and looked up, only to see a somewhat familiar face. Her memory was excellent, and she immediately recognized the person. "Autumn Rhodes?"

"You recognize me?" Autumn Rhodes said with a smile.

Susan Caldwell’s gaze deepened. ’I vividly remember that day at the cafeteria entrance when Autumn Rhodes stood up to confront Vera Xavier. Even back then, I thought she could be a useful pawn. I’d even considered trying to win her over to my side.’

’But I’ve been stuck in military training, and since Autumn Rhodes is a year above me, I never found the right opportunity to approach her.’

No one dislikes a compliment. Autumn Rhodes laughed. "You flatter me, I’m not that incredible. But what happened here?"

Autumn Rhodes pointed at Susan Caldwell’s face. Susan sniffled lightly and said, "Vera Xavier did this."

Autumn Rhodes frowned. "Vera Xavier actually dared to get violent in front of everyone? Didn’t the drill instructors do anything?"

"Mr. Rhodes, you know what Vera Xavier is really like. She’s so calculating, and she uses her looks to her advantage, constantly running to the drill instructors and acting all seductive... Ugh, she’s a disgrace to our entire freshman class," Susan Caldwell said with a sigh.

Susan Caldwell’s words were exactly what Autumn Rhodes wanted to hear. When you already despise someone, hearing another person bad-mouth them instantly closes the distance and gives you common ground.

"Hmph, I already knew Vera Xavier was a shameless vixen," Autumn Rhodes said, grinding her teeth. "On the very first day of school, she used her looks to try and seduce Mr. Yale, and she’s been getting tangled up with other guys too. Now she’s even hitting on her own drill instructors? She has absolutely no shame!"

The moment Susan Caldwell heard Autumn Rhodes’s words, she understood why the other girl hated Vera Xavier so much. A slight smile touched her lips. ’Another useful pawn.’
