The Broken Halo

Chapter 611 - 610: What’s Your Story?

"She sold me for twenty low grade Infernal Crystals... just like you always suggested to her."

If before, the atmosphere outside the carriage was tense, the current atmosphere could not be put into words after Simon said these words.

Mira, Devia, Brukk, and Orven already thought of the worst.

And who wouldn’t?

Mira had suggested to Simon’s mother in the past that he should be sold, and he was eventually sold.

Mira and her companions, and even Sonya and Akaza felt that the reason why Simon approached Mira this time around was to have his revenge.

Sweat appeared on the faces of Mira and her companions. Their faces became pale, and their breathing became rough and laboured.

Simon was not releasing his aura or his killing intent. He was only smiling.

But that smile was like the smile of the devil to them.

They were terrified.

Simon shifted his gaze from Mira to Devia, then to Brukk, then to Orven.

Then he looked back at Mira and chuckled.

"You don’t have to be afraid. I’m not killing you."

Despite saying this, Mira did not believe him, and she decided to plead and explain.

"When I told Lyssa to sell you, I was completely ignorant and foolish. My world view was very small and I knew nothing."

"I was actually proud of your mother when she repeatedly shut me up and told me to never bring up such a thing again. And that’s why I’m shocked that she actually sold you."

Mira bowed.

"I’m sorry."

Simon looked at Mira with visible surprise in his eyes.

He didn’t expect Mira to apologize to him. In fact, it was out of all the scenarios he had played out in his head.

He believed that the only time Mira would apologize to him is if he threatened her or if he was in the process of killing her.

For a moment, he didn’t know what to say and could only stare at Mira who did not raise her head.

Even Mira’s companions were taken aback by Mira’s apology and bow, but they were inwardly praising her because they had no desire to die.

Now, they just had to hope that Simon would accept her apology.

They looked at Simon with wary and fearful expressions.

Simon hummed softly, then he finally broke the silence.

"It’s fine. That is in the past."

Mira heaved a huge sigh of relief, then she raised her head but still carefully looked at Simon.

When she saw that his expression was still cold and indifferent, but not toward her, she heaved another sigh of relief.

Simon looked at Mira with a slightly amused and intrigued expression, then he shook his head slightly and spoke.

"If you have any other questions, ask them. I’ll ask you my own questions after."

Mira had a complicated expression after hearing Simon’s words. She looked down for a few seconds before looking up.

"A lot has truly happened to you."

Simon remained silent and just stared at her.

Mira looked at Simon from up to down, and though he was wearing a robe and a hoodie, she could see the changes in his face, eyes, and hair.

Even his presence was something she could not fathom with everything she knew about Simon.

"You must be sixteen years old by now..."

Her lips curled into a self-mocking smile.

"... Sixteen years old and you’re already an Archfiend while I’m still a Minor Archfiend at my age."

Devia, Brukk, and Orven had complicated expressions hearing Mira’s words.

They had no idea that Simon was still sixteen years old. To preserve their pride and dignity, they subconsciously told themselves that Simon was maybe in his twenties or so.

But hearing that he was a sixteen years old and was already a Minor Archfiend nearly broke their spirits.

Sixteen years old was when a demon awakened their demonic heart and chaos flame, but Simon was an Archfiend already?

It was honestly depressing for Mira and her companions to hear.

Mira released a deep sigh and looked at Simon’s eyes.

"Did your mother... sell you to the Daegrin that appeared in our tribe?"

Simon nodded slightly.

"Do you mind telling me what happened to you after? Where were you taken to?"

Simon smiled once again and shook his head.

"That’s a secret. I can’t tell you."

Mira nodded in understanding, then she asked another question.

"Can you tell me how you became so strong? I know about your bloodline. You should not be this talented and strong based on what your bloodline is."

Simon smiled.

"I was lucky to encounter some opportunities. I am currently where I am because of luck."

Devia, Brukk, and Orven had complicated expressions after hearing Simon’s words.

It was obvious to them that Simon did not want to reveal what made him to be so talented, but they knew that luck definitely played a role in it.

They too wanted to encounter a lucky opportunity that would forever change their lives for good.

Mira had a wry smile when she realized that Simon was not planning on telling her much. Through she expected it, she was still disappointed.

She glanced at Sonya and Akaza from the corner of her eyes.

"By the way, why did you come to Varsha City? And why were you being carried by him."

Simon glanced at Akaza.

"We needed a place to hide, rest, and heal our injuries. We just happened to come across Vashar City."

Mira raised a brow.

"The battle you guys fought must have been a terrifying one for you to have been that injured."

Simon chuckled softly.

"It actually was. Fortunately for us, we came out alive."

Mira nodded slightly but didn’t say anything. Though she was very curious as to what battle Simon and his companions fought because she could sense that all three of them were powerful.

"Are these all the questions you want to ask?"

She looked at Simon, then she nodded.

"You can’t tell me what happened to you after Lyssa sold you because it’s a secret. And you also don’t want to tell me how you became so strong. And you also don’t know where your mother is."

"So, I guess I have no other question to ask."

Simon nodded slightly, then he asked his question.

"How did you get to Vashar City from the Wildlands? What’s your story?"
