The Broken Halo

Chapter 499: Ymir

Although Simon wished he could remove the soul devouring centipede now, he knew that he could not.

He had to be patient.

He had to wait for the right time.

If he removed it now, the Grave Lords would definitely know… And maybe, just maybe event the Night Sovereign would know.

Fuuuu

Simon exhaled deeply, then he looked at Lucien and the Winter Monkey.

He had half expected them or Lucien to be exact to try and escape while he was deep in his thoughts, but it seemed the Frostborn prodigy was very wary of the Chaos Wraps.

Simon stretched out his hand and gestured at them.

“Both of you… come.”

Lucien and the Winter Monkey blinked, then they looked at each other.

It was completely strange to them that Simon who was definitely younger than them and also of a lower rank than them was ordering them to come to him.

But what could they do?

They had just seen him kill a Supreme Greater Demon, and they were very wary of the abilities and artifacts he had.

The Winter Monkey shrank his body to his human child size, then it jumped on Lucien’s shoulder, surprising the Frostborn prodigy.

Lucien looked at the Winter Monkey.

“I’m injured. Moving hurts.” The Winter Monkey said, and Lucien narrowed his eyes slightly before turning his gaze away.

He released a soft sigh, then he started walking toward Simon.

About two minutes later, he finally reached Simon.

Simon looked at the duo from top to bottom, then he looked at the Winter Monkey.

“How are your injuries?”

The Winter Monkey was surprised.

He did not expect Simon to ask such a question or to even care about his injuries.

In fact, he was actually worried that Simon would take this opportunity to kill him and devour his heart so as to get stronger.

Though he was surprised, baffled, and suspicious, he still responded to Simon’s question.

“Serious. I’m lucky to be in a place that’s concentrated with the ice element, if not I’d have died a long time ago.”

Simon nodded.

“And how long do you think you’ll need to completely heal your injuries?”

This time around, the Winter Monkey furrowed his brows in contemplation.

He looked down at the deep cut that was on his chest and the several cuts on his body.

Although he had reduced his body size, the injuries remained.

He looked back at Simon.

“Probably a week or two to expel his demonic energy from my body and another two weeks to completely heal from my injuries.”

Simon nodded once again.

“Alright.”

He said nothing else, causing the Winter Monkey and Lucien to have strange expressions.

Simon looked to his right with a slightly distant gaze.

A few seconds later, he spoke.

“Do you have a name?”

The Winter Monkey blinked.

“Me?” He pointed at himself.

Simon looked at the beast and raised an amused brow.

“Who else could it be but you?”

The Winter Monkey blinked once again, and he was even more baffled but he responded regardless.

“I don’t.” He scratched the side of his head.

Simon nodded for the third time in their conversation.

“Your name is going to be Ymir from now on.”

The Winter Monkey and Lucien’s expression changed.

They were completely shocked and they did not expect Simon to suddenly name the Winter Monkey.

The Winter Monkey, no, Ymir did not know how to react, and he also did not know how to feel about being named.

He had a blank expression as he stared at Simon.

As for Lucien, he couldn’t believe that a Fiend was naming a Calamity Beast.

However, he was more concerned about something else.

’Doesn’t this mean that he’s interested in the Winter Monkey and he wants to have it for himself?’

Lucien could not help but clench his fists tightly after having this thought.

“Lucien.”

Lucien looked at Simon with a frown he could not hide.

“I have some questions to ask you.”

Lucien’s frown deepened.

“Questions like?”

Simon stretched out his right hand, and the Chaos Wraps moved.

Lucien’s eyes widened in fear and even Ymir was also afraid.

Lucien tried taking a step back, but the Chaos Wraps was faster.

They curled around his body and bound his arms tightly to his body.

The same went for Ymir who had a baffled expression.

Why was Simon binding him after naming him?

What was going on?

Ymir had these questions in his mind as Simon used the Chaos Wraps to place him gently on the ground.

As for Lucien, his heart beating in extreme fear.

He was extremely afraid that he’ll suddenly turn to ashes.

Step

Simon took a step forward, reducing the distance between both of them.

“Before I ask you those questions, I have to do something first.”

As Simon spoke, he held Lucien’s head, then his gaze turned cold.

“If you know what’s good for you, don’t resist and open up your mind barrier.”

Lucien’s eyes flickered with confusion, then he looked at Ymir whose eyes widened in fear.

’Wait.’

Lucien’s eyes widened, but Simon did not give him time to say what he wanted to say.

He received the same treatment as Ymir.

And a few seconds later, he started screaming in pain.

Although Simon told him not to, he did not want to be a slave to another demon.

Who was he?

The future leader of House Mercer.

The prodigy of the Frostborns.

A Half-Step Greater Demon.

He was carrying the weight of the fate of House Mercer on his back.

He had done a lot of things and accomplished so many things.

Even though Simon was definitely special and talented, he still refused to be his slave.

How would he face his parents if he ever got to see them?

How would he face his people?

What would be the fate of House Mercer if their future leader was a slave and a puppet of another demon?

And what pride would he have left if he was enslaved by a mere Fiend?

Lucien refused and he tried to fight back.

However… It was all for naught.

About one minute later, he fell on his knees with blood slowly dripping and streaming from his eyes.
