Chapter 263: How Did He Notice Me?
Chapter 263: 263: How Did He Notice Me?
’He noticed me?’
Leaning on one of the dorm rooms with his arms crossed and an invisible presence was Instructor Valdin.
There was a subtle lack of light around him and paired with the fact that he emitted no presence or aura made one to subconsciously ignore his presence.
In fact, some of Simon’s classmates were few inches from touching him, but they never knew that he was right beside them.
His breathing could not be heard, and even the air around him was calm and undisturbed, almost like he was not there.
When Simon looked at him, the others were baffled because they didn’t notice anything at first.
They even thought he was just stating bullshit.
Even when they were staring directly at Instructor Valdin, their minds and subconsciousness did not register the fact that he was standing right there.
Not until a few seconds later when the Initiate that was the closest to him cautiously pokes him, then he jumped back in disbelief and shouted.
“What the fuck?! It’s actually the instructor!”
Everybody’s eyes widened in shock and disbelief.
Their class instructor was here?
Right in their midst?
And they didn’t know?
How long had he been standing there?
How long had he been watching them?
What sort of ability was this to stand in their midst and not a single one of them noticed him?
Was this the power of an elite assassin of the Shadowgrave Clan?
Even Sunless, Merath, and Jorra had surprised expressions behind their masks when they saw that their class instructor had been standing right in their midst and was watching the whole thing.
A chill crept up the spines of both Jorra and Merath when they thought about how they had an immense urge to kill Simon.
If they had not restrained themselves, or if they had used one of their unique abilities, believing that none of their classmates or the hidden Shadow Blades would understand it, they would have gotten into serious trouble because Instructor Valdin might notice the oddities behind their abilities.
’How long has he been watching us?’ Both of them thought with a shiver.
They were not the only ones to have the same question in their minds. All had the same question, but a few moments later, some shifted their gaze to Simon in confusion, wonder, and amazement.
If none of them was able to sense the presence of their class instructor, then how was he able to sense Instructor Valdin?
Even Instructor Valdin had the same question in his mind.
He knew that Simon was unique in a strange sort of way. He was a hybrid with a Supreme Common Bloodline, but he did not act like it in the slightest.
His talents in battle was extremely high. In fact, it was one of the highest he had ever seen in the history of First Years, and even some Third Years might not have his talent when it came to battle.
However, Simon was no assassin.
Instructor Valdin could see it as clear as day.
He was more of a swordsman than an assassin, and though he had a few questions about this, he decided to withhold them for now.
But at this moment, he was genuinely curious as to how Simon was able to sense him.
’It should not be possible for a Fiend to notice me. Then how did he do it?’
He decided to ask.
If there was something, even if it was something tiny and unbelievable that gave him away, he needed to know.
Being a top tier assassin was difficult and dangerous, and it required one to be perfect.
If there was a flaw in his hiding techniques especially, he needed to correct before this flaw became his downfall.
“How did you notice me?” He asked while pushing himself off the wall.
Simon’s eyes were indifferent and calm, then he replied.
“My instincts told me from the very beginning that there was something dangerous nearby, and after looking around carefully, I noticed that you were standing there.”
’What a load of crap. Your instincts? I have killed numerous Greater Demons who had greater and sharper instincts than you. If your instincts as a Fiend with a mere Supreme Common Bloodline was sharp enough to notice me, then does that mean you should be compared to a Greater Demon in regards to instincts?’
Instructor Valdin did not believe Simon’s words in the slightest, and he knew that there must be another reason why Simon was able to notice him despite the fact that he hid his presence.
’Unfortunately, I can’t force him to tell me how he found me if he wants to keep his secret. I’m their class instructor and I can’t do such a thing to my student, even if he’s a slave… Besides, it’s just a minor thing. Who doesn’t have a secret or two?’
What Instructor Valdin did not know was that Simon’s secret was related to an ancient Daemon.
Instructor Valdin was right when he said that Simon should not have been able to sense him at all because he hid his presence.
Simon could not sense Instructor Valdin and had not even sensed their class instructor up until the moment Jorra arrived.
Before Jorra’s arrival, Simon could feel the perceptions and gazes of the hidden Shadow Blades and other hidden powerful clan members who were watching him and his classmates.
Those ones did not bother to hide their presence.
However, the moment Jorra arrived, Simon told Lilith to give him her sight.
He was very wary of Jorra and his cursed spirits.
Who knew if Jorra decided to use a cursed spirit to attack him or curse him.
He needed to be prepared for such a thing, but to his surprise, he saw Instructor Valdin in the midst of his classmates the moment Lilith gave him her sight.
Instructor Valdin shifted his gaze from Simon to Jorra, Sunless, and Merath. Then he shifted his gaze to Ice Tyrant, Flaming Star, and Tempest Strider.
