The Boys: Viltrumite Evolution Panel
Chapter 275 Horus and the Emperor
The Emperor repeated, "You killed my son, why?"
He did not debate the right and wrong of the war, but repeatedly asked this single question.
Horus laughed wildly, "Why? Have thousands of years of warfare taught you nothing? It is you who deceived us! You concealed the truth of The Warp from us! You treated us as tools, as pawns, just to accomplish your selfish grand design for humanity!"
"That is why I broke free from the shackles you forced upon me! I have seen the truth! I could have brought true liberation to the galaxy!"
"Why?" The Emperor still repeated.
Horus showed utter incomprehension, yet still retained a shred of father-son affection, "Look before your eyes, Father! Look at your Empire, torn to shreds by the sons you created with your own hands! You hid behind the high walls of Terra, driving other Primarchs to their deaths! Now you have finally stepped before me in person!"
"Kneel! As long as you submit to me! You can live, and as my prisoner, witness the birth of a new World!"
The grief in the Emperor’s eyes was replaced by a piercing coldness; he took a deep breath, and the psychic storm in the sanctum transformed into a golden ocean.
"Why?"
Even at this juncture, the Emperor was still asking.
Horus’s incomprehension grew a fraction heavier, "Father, what on Earth are you talking about?"
"You killed my children!" The Emperor’s gaze crossed over Horus, past the endless void, and Horus snapped out of it in shock, turning around.
But there was nothing behind him.
The Chaos Gods were snickering!
"Horus... my son!" Only then did the Emperor cast his gaze toward Horus, "You have been completely swallowed by the abyss, and what you bring is not freedom, but an irreversible long night of destruction for all mankind! I originally had no wish to descend this ultimate judgment upon you, but for the survival of humanity..."
"Wait, you two, excuse me."
An inopportune voice rang out, carrying even a hint of clarity that did not belong to this era.
Hum!
There were no ripples of teleportation from The Warp, nor any gravitational anomalies of physical warp jumps.
A black-haired youth, in the purest posture of a human, swaggered out from the nothingness, standing precisely on the centerline between the Emperor and Horus.
On the left was a longsword, on the right a warhammer.
"What?!"
Horus’s super senses, maxed out by the Chaos Gods, instantly fell into immense chaos!
In the vision of the Chaos Gods, the entire Vengeful Spirit was thoroughly blockaded, and not even a fly from The Warp could possibly infiltrate silently.
Yet the man before him... was as if he had been standing there since eternity past, natural, poised, without even the slightest fluctuation in the airflow around his body!
Only the Emperor’s pupils contracted sharply.
Black hair and black eyes, deep gaze, pure...
At this time, on the human side of the Warhammer Universe, there were actually still certain pure-strain humans, but this pure-strain still had some gaps compared to the concept of an Earthling, so a huge difference could be seen.
"Get lost! Despicable mundane ant!!"
Horus flew into a rage, completely unwilling to ponder whence the variable came, and swung the Worldbreaker warhammer back-handed, carrying the might capable of smashing a planet’s core raw, smashing straight down toward Lucas’s forehead!
Clang!
A crisp, light sound echoed through the sanctum.
The Warmaster’s personality was quite tyrannical!
Was this because he had been bewitched by the Chaos Gods and had an unstable mind?
Lucas didn’t even blink his eyelids, casually blocking upwards to parry that warhammer, and all the destructive fel energy, as well as the kinetic energy, vanished into thin air.
This was a display of divine power.
The counter-shock force rebounded upward, shattering the heavy armor on Horus’s right arm into web-like cracks, sending him stumbling back three large steps!
Horus’s face was filled with shock and suspicion, the chaotic black flames in his eyes twitching slightly.
"I was not talking to you, mister holding the warhammer, please do not butt in arbitrarily! Humans really are getting worse with each generation; no, Primarchs and humans can be considered two different species by now!"
Lucas did not understand the Warhammer settings well, but he also knew a few fragmentary settings.
Primarchs were ultimate modified warriors; compared to human genes, the gap between them was even greater than that between humans and bananas!
Seeing that Horus was about to attack again, Lucas couldn’t be bothered to look at him twice, and with a backhand wave, a gravity wave pinned the Warmaster to the ground, smashing both knees through the floorboards, rendering him unable to move.
The entire place fell dead silent.
The Emperor of Mankind was surrounded by a psychic storm, but could sense that the other party possessed divine power; that divine power was different from the chaotic essence of the Chaos Gods, nor was it like any deity from a chaotic and disordered faction.
His divine power was actually so pure!
A pure-strain human possessing pure divine power—could it be a Perpetual even older than himself?
The Emperor even suspected that he had fallen for Tzeentch’s illusion.
But that was impossible.
Nor could anyone disguise themselves as a human in front of him; the facial features of a pure-strain human were extremely obvious!
Thus, upon the Emperor’s majestic face, an unparalleled shock surfaced for the first time!
"You are a human? Our compatriot!"
"Sort of... I suppose?"
Lucas could hardly say whether he himself still counted as a human; Homelander had Compound V in his body, but at least he was still somewhat human, whereas he himself could no longer be considered human anymore!
Even a Meta-human from Earth could not take a bath in a solar storm or roll around in a black hole.
"Do you belong to the human faction?" The Emperor was still uncertain.
If there were another Perpetual as powerful as himself, then humanity would quickly end this civil war, and the tearing, betrayal, and despair lingering over the human faction would cease to exist!
"Of course, I have a heart of gold!" Lucas claimed of himself.
He had this kind of strength and didn’t really do bad things; his biggest hobby was just chiseling things, how could he not count as part of the human faction?
I’m afraid that even if the Emperor, along with the twenty Primarch warriors, a bunch of Astra Militarum, plus all of humanity, were bundled together, they wouldn’t be as pure-hearted as Lord Lucas.
No!
Comparing himself to the people opposite lowered his worth too much; bundled together, these folks didn’t even have as kind a heart as Homelander!
Homelander was just afraid of cyberbullying.
The scoundrels before him were hard characters determined to make the galaxy burn!
It’s in the bag!
The Emperor held his longsword, his psychic might surpassing before; although the son before him was heartbreaking, it wasn’t quite as painful in his heart anymore!
Well, it was still very painful!
But the human faction had gained another powerhouse, and a top-tier one at that—let the galaxy burn once more!
"I know what you are thinking—you want humanity to return to the era of the Great Crusade, prosperous, unmatched, sweeping across the cosmos! But joy turns into sorrow when it peaks; there is no empire that prospers forever, nor humanity that exists eternally!"
"You love humanity, but your love also drives humanity toward destruction!"
Lucas’s subsequent words caused the Emperor’s expression to startle.
"I know!" He nodded in tacit agreement.
"Oh, I forgot, you can foresee the future! You know you are going to sit on the Golden Throne, you also know the outcome of this battle, and you even know where humanity’s future is headed!"
