Chapter 273 The Transformation of Night City

However, before Johnny could continue mocking, Lucas suddenly turned his head and looked at the corner where Johnny Silverhand was standing. Logically speaking, Johnny was just a data stream consciousness.

Medically speaking, he could at most be considered V’s secondary personality.

Yet Lucas actually saw him. "Oh ho! Isn’t this the old rocker boy, the badass who dared to blow up Arasaka Tower back in the day, now scared of even a cyberpsycho? Can’t V just kick this thing to death casually?"

"Wait, no! Actually, what you said makes sense. In a sense, our V is the biggest cyberpsycho of them all!"

[What the fuck?! He... he can see me? He can even hear me speak?!]

The electronic cigarette in Johnny’s hand almost dropped to the ground. Although that thing was also constructed from consciousness, it was enough to show Johnny’s shock.

"You! You can see this asshole?" V was also shocked.

Johnny: "..."

What kind of talk was that?

"Alright, it’s time to fulfill my promise!" Lucas snapped his fingers casually, and the Relic, which was completely a negative buff for V, was purified in an instant.

The hidden ailments eroding her nerves were completely resolved, while Johnny Silverhand’s consciousness code was extracted by Lucas and reshaped into a bionic body constructed from nanobiotechnology.

He originally wanted to get some Vibranium, but with a Vibranium body, who knew what kind of trouble Johnny would stir up again.

This kid was definitely a restless troublemaker.

"Johnny? What the fuck!"

V instantly felt the changes happening in her body. Her brain was clearer than ever before; there was no nonstop nagging voice of Johnny in her head, and she could no longer see his shadow.

Indeed, she could no longer see his shadow.

Because Johnny was standing right in front of her, completely intact, holding onto the wall and vomiting profusely.

"Take a deep breath, don’t be nervous! It will be over soon!" Lucas’s voice drifted over feebly.

Click!

Johnny simply fell headfirst to the ground and passed out.

"What’s wrong with him?" V stood up from the chair, her pair of fair, long legs making people unable to look away.

However, how much of those legs were still flesh and blood?

"It still takes a certain amount of time for the neural links to get used to the new body. After all, consciousness is equivalent to a soul. But extracting consciousness using technological methods will only net you a string of code."

"As for me! I restored this string of code back into a real soul. In other words, Johnny is now a genuine living person!"

"Well, at least on the soul level!"

V looked confused. "So... you mean you turned a string of code into a real soul? Fuck! What kind of person are you anyway? I used to think you were a rogue AI beyond the Blackwall, but now why do you feel like a god?"

"Are there gods in this World?"

"Of course there aren’t!" Lucas walked with his hands behind his back, pacing around the room, his gaze falling on a weapon on the shelf.

To call it a weapon wasn’t entirely appropriate.

Because that thing looked somewhat like a lady’s pleasure toy.

"Awesome, V! Your tastes are actually so bold!" Lucas clicked his tongue in wonder.

V looked along his gaze. That thing was something sent to her by some smelly woman, even named Sir John Phallustiff. She thought it was some kind of katana, but it turned out to be...

"Don’t misunderstand!"

"Mhm, no need to explain, I understand everything!" Lucas wore a look of knowing it all.

After some conversation, the atmosphere gradually grew harmonious.

V sat back down in the chair, her two long legs crossed and propped up on the table, completely not caring about Lucas’s gaze.

"Speak, big boss. What do you see in me? I’m just a mercenary. Why is a big shot of unknown origin like you investing in me everywhere? I don’t believe in any bullshit love!"

"Uh! I was just thinking, what if you’re a good girl?"

Lucas looked serious.

V squinted her eyes. "Of course I’m a good girl—smoking, drinking, getting perms, occasionally blowing someone’s head off with a big gun, or charging into Arasaka Tower on a bloody rampage just like a cyberpsycho!"

"Yet I am indeed a good girl!"

"What, are you interested? I’ll go take a bath in the bathroom!"

Awesome, V!

Lucas shook his head, "Picked up a bottle of synthetic beverage from the table."

"So even gods can feel embarrassed!"

"However, this lousy place has been sick for too long. Everyone eats artificial meat, human tissues are mixed into the pollutants in the sewers, and the streets are filled with punks, ruffians, or hyenas cutting out other people’s corporate parts."

"Who can be a traditional good girl in Night City? It’s already not bad just to survive! But for a savior, opening wide the doors and doing business isn’t out of the question either!"

"To a certain extent, I’ve kept myself quite pure!"

Lucas shook his head. "Alright, V! We’ll talk about it if there’s a chance in the future. If I invest a few hundred trillion into you, can you start a corporation and take down Militech, Kang Tao, and Zetatech those folks directly?"

"Huh?" V no longer knew what expression to use to describe it.

She opened her computer, revealed her account, and then looked expectant.

"Sure! My account is right here. I wouldn’t say I’m stably poor, I can only say that earnings don’t come as fast as spending. Nowadays, investing money in yourself is safer than leaving it in the bank waiting to be stolen!"

"Your regulatory system is definitely hacked by the Blackwall!" Lucas reached out and swiped across that string of numbers.

Immediately after, V saw a string of zeros turn into 99999999...

She rubbed her eyes. "What the fuck?! This is my bank account? Why is it longer than my ID number and social security number combined? Did you transfer all the money from the major corporations to me?"

"Money is just an insignificant currency; what truly matches is the corresponding resources. Even if you possess this money, I’m afraid you still won’t be able to deal an effective blow to those corporations."

Lucas casually tossed out some technology, and then, like in Red Alert, spawned a bunch of mechanical soldiers at the port.

Cyberpunk corporations, to a certain extent, were actually equivalent to countries.

Several major corporations had fought real wars with live ammunition, and their territories were all seized through warfare.

Therefore, having money and technology wasn’t enough; one needed sufficient military force.

Over the next few years.

The entire Night City ushered in a new Master.

"Universe Technology," led by V, rose from the ground up. The technologies Lucas casually tossed out were even more absurd than magic in the Cyberpunk worldview.

For example, the [Molecular Pure Meat Printer]. Such a thing only existed in futuristic science fiction, like the biomaker on the Orville; he had completely materialized it.

This technology could replace inferior synthetic meat and various algal pastes, allowing bottom-tier civilians to eat tender and juicy pure beef for just a few bucks.

Another example is the [Aquatic Ecosystem Purification Matrix]. This thing could purify the industrial sewage around Night City, completely reverse the acid rain wasteland, and turn it into pure Water that could be drunk.

There was also the [Micro Reactor], which phased out fossil fuels and high-pollution batteries, providing nearly free and inexhaustible eco-friendly energy.
