The Boys: Viltrumite Evolution Panel

Chapter 237 Mark’s Special Training

  • Next Chapter

Mark felt quite relieved.

He originally thought his father was a solitary hero, but it turned out there was a whole bunch of kinsmen, and their status in the Universe was quite high. After all, they weren’t ordinary cosmic beings; they could go around policing between Planets.

The last one he saw like that was the Land of Light from the comics.

As for why there was a Land of Light on Earth, it was because starting from the last century, a Lucas’s comic publishing company had mysteriously appeared, creating all kinds of superheroes.

There was the Black-Cloaked Vigilante, showing a White chin, fighting crime in the damp and dark Gotham.

And Superman wearing red trunks.

As well as an entire Ultraman series.

Mark had been a comic fan since he was a child, and he wanted to become a superhero one day. He never expected that he truly was a lucky one.

"Continue the training, Mark!"

Nolan rested for a while and resumed special training with his eldest son. He wanted to help Mark master his abilities as soon as possible and then report back to His Majesty the Emperor.

"Fine, what project are we going to do this time? Practical combat? Or keep throwing baseballs?"

Nolan’s mustache twitched slightly, and a smile appeared at the corner of his mouth. "None of those. Let’s go push a meteorite; this can train your bench press ability and greatly break through the upper limit of your physical strength!"

Push a meteorite to train bench pressing?

Mark suddenly felt that even if Nolan didn’t work as a superhero, he could open a gym.

That was simply a genius idea!

So... am I going to die?

Nolan patted Mark’s shoulder. "You are still too thin, kid. You must train your muscles so that you can win the favor of the girls of our kind. We are a race that worships muscle monsters."

He clenched his fist, displaying his huge biceps.

"So you also won Mother’s favor by virtue of your muscles?" Mark chuckled endlessly.

Nolan shook his head and said, "That’s not it at all. It was purely my personal charm."

Mark: "..."

His father sure knew how to tell a good joke!

However, Mark glanced at the muscles on Nolan’s body and felt truly envious. When would he ever possess such muscle density?

The father and son entered the deep Universe.

Mark took a deep breath and began to hold it. A Viltrumite didn’t have the ability to breathe in the Universe, relying purely on a pair of thunderous lungs to forcefully hold their breath until breathing the next breath of air.

"Your lungs haven’t completely changed yet, so you can probably only survive in an anaerobic state for a few hours. Let’s make it quick." Nolan disappeared in a second, and when he appeared again, he was already holding a large meteorite in his hand.

This meteorite was ten times larger than the one that destroyed the dinosaur clan back then.

"Alright, kid, this is as simple as throwing a football. I’ll throw the meteorite toward Earth, and you do your best to stop it from falling and push the meteorite away. If you can’t do it, Earth goes... boom!"

Mark’s mouth twitched. "Father, you’re joking, right?"

Nolan raised an eyebrow slightly.

"Do I look like I’m joking?"

He raised his right arm and tossed the meteorite away with a single arm. Sure enough, that meteorite plummeted toward Earth.

"Holy shit!"

Seeing this, Mark didn’t hesitate anymore. With an accelerated burst, he caught up with the meteorite, then flipped over to land underneath it, pushing outward with all his might.

When Mark first awakened his abilities, he was roughly about the same as the comic version of Homelander. After special training, Mark’s various stats skyrocketed by dozens of times, but pushing such a massive meteorite was still somewhat beyond his capabilities.

After all, for the most conventional meteorites, by weight, tens of trillions of tons were just loli-tier.

Mark’s meteorite was at least maiden-tier.

Nolan crossed his arms and followed behind Mark. After all, he wasn’t some demon; he wouldn’t actually let the meteorite hit the surface and smash Earth to pieces, otherwise the Emperor would smash him to pieces!

"Tighten your buttocks, exert force with all the muscles in your body, seriously feel your limits, and then surpass them!" Nolan encouraged.

Mark’s face turned red from holding back. "My steel gate is already welded shut, but this... this is too heavy!"

He pushed upward with both arms, but the meteorite was as heavy as a mountain and kept falling.

Especially the closer they got to the Planet, the gravitational drag caused Mark’s arm combat suit to shatter inch by inch, and even his muscles and blood vessels burst open. Blood gushed out, freezing instantly upon contact with the air.

Nolan frowned. "Young people nowadays simply can’t compare to us back then. When I reached adulthood, I had to receive a mixed beating from my parents. If I couldn’t defeat them, the outcome was Death!"

"Really? My Grandpa and grandma whom I’ve never met are actually this brutal?"

Mark still had the mood to reply.

"Yes, my iron-boned mother was the victor in the reproductive battle. According to Earth’s saying, she could be considered to have forced herself upon my father, and then gave birth to me, so we don’t have much affection."

Nolan felt a bit sentimental.

Mark was finding it a bit hard to process.

Pushing a meteorite ten times the size of the one that destroyed the dinosaurs was already a hell-level challenge, and his father was still frantically stacking buffs nearby.

"Alright, then could they be considered to have died a worthy Death?" Mark asked.

Nolan shook his head. "Your grandmother died of the scourge virus, but your Grandpa didn’t. He showed due paternal love at my coming-of-age ceremony and now holds the position of Imperial Staff Officer, helping His Majesty the Emperor handle state affairs."

"I plan to take you back to see him when you are capable of long-distance planetary jumping. Every Viltrum baby born outside must rely on their own ability to reach the Imperial Sanctuary; only then is the test considered complete!"

The veins on Mark’s neck bulged, and his consciousness was almost becoming blurry.

"So you really don’t plan to help me out? I really can’t carry this anymore, Father!" Mark pushed upward with his last bit of strength, actually making the meteorite pause for a moment.

But once his strength ran out, weakness followed immediately. The meteorite smashed squarely onto Mark’s face, knocking him to spit out a mouthful of fresh blood.

Then it swept invincible downward toward Earth.

"Sigh!"

"Young people nowadays simply can’t compare to us back then!"

"If it were according to the old Empire’s rules, it would be a miracle if you brat could survive your coming-of-age ceremony!"

Naturally, Nolan couldn’t just sit by and watch his son get smashed into a two-dimensional figure, so he could only fly down, easily lift the meteorite, and throw it deep into the Universe.

Mark was covered in blood, looking miserable to the extreme.

"We can’t go back like this, your mother will curse me to Death. Eat some high-protein food to recover!" Nolan turned a blind eye to his son’s miserable state; he had been much more miserable than this back then.

Nolan took Mark to wash up in a large lake to rinse off the blood and dirt, then hunted a few beasts and directly made some wild barbecue.

As for the animal protection association...

Hehe.

"How many half-breeds like us can successfully return to the Sanctuary?" Mark rubbed his arms. After ingesting high-protein food, Mark’s injuries healed very quickly.

In just a few days, he would be able to recover seven or eight tenths.

"Basically eighty percent of them can go back. The old Empire turned people into ghosts, and the new Empire turns ghosts into people. We no longer follow the iron-fisted strategy of those years. As long as I determine that you are qualified to challenge, I will send an evaluation application to the Empire headquarters."

"They will send an examiner to supervise, and along the way, at least three Viltrumites will accompany you to ensure no accidents happen to our descendants, especially one like you..."

Nolan emphasized deliberately.

"One like me?" Mark seemed to have some speculation. "What do you mean? Is my identity rather special? It seems your status in the Empire is not low, Father! At least you’re some kind of official!"

Nolan shook his head. "That’s not the reason; it’s bloodline purity! We Viltrumites have powerful reproductive genes and can successfully give birth to offspring with many races across the Universe!"

"Whether it’s the interstellar Zerg, the mechanical Protoss, or various fluid races, these newly born descendants will gradually turn into the appearance of a Viltrumite as they grow over time."

"But when they reach the stage of complete growth, they retain the characteristics of their native race, such as the habits and skin color of the Zerg, the creation parts of the mechanical Protoss, and the fluid properties and skin color of the fluid race. But you are different!"

Mark listened attentively. The things Nolan was recounting made a Viltrum child in a foreign land listen with rapt fascination.

Nolan patted his son’s shoulder. "At the stage of your birth, you were just like the native Viltrum race. There are also quite a few children like you on Earth; nowadays inside the Empire, they are called the new generation!"
