Episode 71 - Feelings [1]
─────────────────────────────────
"Ugh...!!!"
I felt a sharp pain throughout my entire body. A groan escaped me as I slowly regained consciousness.
"Aah!"
I took a deep breath, desperately inhaling air as if I had been suffocating.
Then I slowly exhaled, but the moment I did, a terrible pain shot through my chest.
This wasn’t the first time I had experienced pain after all my Traits were sealed following the use of the Eyes of the End.
However, this time was different.
The pain in my chest was far more intense than usual.
It was probably because of the final blows I had received to both sides of my body at the hands of Cardinals Abraham and Julius.
I brought my right hand toward the affected area and gently pressed against the soft spot as I tried to sit up.
It was a terrible decision.
"....!?"
"A-ah... I-it hurts, it hurts..."
My ribs creaked slightly, and I could feel some of my bones shifting out of their original positions.
Worse yet, I could even feel some of my organs moving inside my body.
I quickly lay back down.
I didn’t try to sit up again, much less get out of bed.
’Okay... So, where the hell am I?’
From what I could feel, I was lying on an oddly soft bed.
But that wasn’t the only strange thing.
Just a few seconds ago, I had been sitting in front of a campfire, alongside...
"......!"
’What is this feeling?’
I frowned in confusion.
It was as if I had forgotten something.
I could swear that... I had been chatting with someone while eating fish in front of a campfire.
But I couldn’t remember any of the people who had been there.
In fact, even the very idea of having been sitting in front of a campfire felt strangely unfamiliar to me.
’Whatever happened, my memories have been erased.’
However, there was something I remembered clearly.
It was the sea and the beach.
Everything related to that place remained vivid in my mind.
That meant the memories from that moment hadn’t completely disappeared.
They had probably been temporarily erased, along with the memories of the people I had been talking to.
In any case, before trying to make sense of it, I first needed to figure out where I was.
"Ugh..."
I brought both hands to my temples as a severe headache began to set in.
I tried to remember what had happened right before I had been on the verge of death.
’That voice... It was Veronica’s, right?’
I remembered the last voice I had heard before "dying" and appearing in the middle of the beach.
And among all the thoughts that had crossed my mind at that moment, one stood out above the rest.
How the hell had Veronica gotten there?
’Right... What happened to the Main Mission?’
The moment I thought about it, the Mission Window appeared within my mind.
Instantly, several system notifications unfolded.

I silently read the final notifications.
However, before I could fully process them, the Mission Window suddenly changed.

I silently read the new Main Mission.
".....!?"
’Okay... I never thought I’d have a chance to inherit the remnants of a Fallen God’s power.’
The Yellow King was known as an Evil God for a rather simple reason: he ruled the Infernal Plane.
That’s what the texts claimed, no matter where you looked.
However, according to my memories, the Yellow King had been a Neutral God.
But then, suddenly, one day during the Divine Era (the era preceding the Mythical Era), the Yellow King died within his own domain.
In the final Layer of the Infernal Plane, only his blood remained.
There was no trace of his body.
I also didn’t know much about the circumstances surrounding the Yellow King’s death.
’Mhm... As far as I understand, the Yellow King was already injured before his death because of a fight with other Evil Gods.’
But aside from that, I didn’t know anything particularly important.
What interested me the most was this Entry Pass.
I didn’t even know that a Yellow King Legacy existed.
’Judging by what’s mentioned in the mission, there are participants.’
I looked at the mission’s time limit again.
Four months.
It was a fairly short period of time.
At that point, it was probably December 3rd.
That meant I had until April of the year 780 before the time limit ran out.
’By then, if I complete the Main Mission I received after unlocking Emiry’s Ring, I will have already recovered the memories of all my past lives.’
I didn’t know what would happen to me after recovering all my memories.
I also didn’t know what kind of person I would become because of the personalities and emotions accumulated throughout all my past lives.
And, of course, I had no idea what consequences or privileges would come with recovering those memories.
In any case, after carefully reading through the new Main Mission, I let out a sigh.
’First there’s the mission related to my memories, and now this one. That means there will be more missions that aren’t part of the Main Missions related to the Holy Land Chapters.’
Chapter Four would begin in five days.
The events of this Chapter revolved around the Academic Exchange between the Holy Academy and Elvenheims Academy.
’And Chapter Five...’
Just thinking about it suddenly gave me a headache.
Chapter Five should begin sometime in May.
In other words, within a month from now, if I managed to complete this new Main Mission related to the Yellow King’s heir, I would immediately move on to another Main Mission.
"Aah, my life is going to be filled with Missions from now on."
It wasn’t like I was complaining.
After all, these Missions had to serve some kind of purpose.
I had noticed that each of them was guiding me toward a goal, a plan, or something along those lines.
’It’s like the necessary progression to face the final enemy of a story.’
In any case, while I remained absorbed in my thoughts about the new Main Mission, my master’s voice suddenly resonated loudly within my mind.
’A-Adel, you’re really awake.’
".....!"
Genuine surprise welled up inside me.
It was the first time I had heard my master say my name.
However, putting those thoughts aside, I replied:
’Awake, in pain all over, but completely alive.’
A sigh of relief escaped my master.
Then, all of a sudden, her figure appeared in front of me in her Spirit form.
Without saying a word, she flew straight toward my face and hugged me.
"....."
That was when I felt tiny droplets fall onto my forehead.
They were so small that they could barely be noticed, but I could feel them as her tiny arms wrapped tightly around my face.
Caught off guard, I didn’t know what to say as she silently cried.
’I thought you had actually died. Do you know how close I came to fainting from a heart attack when I saw you lying on the ground with a hole in your chest?’
I gave her a faint smile and replied:
’How was I supposed to know? I was actually dead at the time, you know?’
’You’re really making a joke right now.’
Upon hearing my response, she pulled away from me and began floating a few inches away.
I quickly apologized to her before asking:
’How much time has passed?’
’Two days. It’s around five in the afternoon right now, and you’re on the Preserver Islands.’
The Preserver Islands.
That was the name I had given the islands where the Church of the Preserver I had created through a ruse was located.
Over time, many people had moved to these islands.
Moreover, I had managed to find them after going through my memories.
Originally, these islands were destined to become the base of a group of villains. However, since I had claimed them, they now belonged to me.
On top of that, I had moved the islands from their original location to somewhere quite far away and drawn a Ten-Star Magic Circle that created an illusion, acting as a barrier around all the floating islands.
Thanks to that, it was impossible to find them through normal means.
’Wait, who exactly brought me here?’
The answer came immediately.
’That girl, Veronica. She also brought Rinna. And, by the way, although I wasn’t there when it happened, who was responsible for the attack you received?’
"......"
I didn’t answer immediately.
The moment I heard her question, my memories came rushing back.
The spear piercing through my chest.
Rinna, with the magic circle over the palm of her hand.
And the sensation of my body being pierced through.
However...
’It was the Pope. I thought I had killed him, or at the very least, that he couldn’t move, much less do anything. It was simply... a miscalculation.’
As I answered my master’s question...
Clank!
Suddenly, the door to the room I was in opened.
Then, I heard a couple of footsteps approaching.
