The patterns were formed from blood essence, crimson and stabbing to the eye, radiating a breath of grim resolve and sorrow.

All the old Cultivators participating in the Array sat down cross-legged at the same time, both hands forming the thunder seals secretly passed down by their various sects, chanting ancient, obscure Thunder Spells.

Their Daoist robes billowed without wind, the Gang Qi around them like burning candles, crazily surging toward the Array Map.

Rumble—!

Not coming from the Nine Heavens, but from the depths of the earth that had been befouled by the Evil God’s power!

The muffled yet violent thunder sounded as if the Earth Veins were roaring.

Strands of Yin Thunder, dark in hue yet containing the Supreme Yang and Strong Power of Evil Breaking, burst forth from the blood-colored Array Map like ferocious dragons imprisoned for ten thousand years suddenly breaking through the soil!

Chi chi chi—!

Where the Yin Thunder passed, the gray-blue freezing mist that chilled the Divine Soul was like boiling soup splashed onto snow, letting out a shrill dissolving sound, great swathes being evaporated and purified.

One thick bolt of Yin Thunder was like a spear of Divine Punishment, stabbing toward the northeast.

There lay the faint, flickering phantom of Baba Yaga’s chicken-legged wooden hut!

"Awooo—!" A non-human, venomous shriek of resentment came from the void.

The crooked wooden hut phantom shook violently, blue-blood-like ice crystals even seeping out from the window lattices.

The dense fog shrouding the camp was actually hacked apart and shattered by this Earth Evil Yin Thunder, drawn at the cost of lives, blown away by more than half!

Light once more penetrated; though still dim, it was enough to make their field of vision much clearer, allowing the divided army to finally see each other.

At the Array Eye’s center, the old Cultivators hosting the Array had their bodies shrivel at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Their skin lost its luster, clinging to bone; their hair instantly turned dry and white as snow, drifting down with the wind.

The fire of their lives was burning out at a furious pace.

Just as their fleshly bodies were about to completely collapse and turn to flying ash, Daoist Zhao Ming suddenly snapped open his turbid eyes.

Using the very last scrap of strength, together with all the fellow Daoists beside him, he let out a final roar:

"Thunder Department, execute evil, ten thousand Divines in attendance—!"

The rolling sound waves dispersed the remaining fog, resounding above the entire battlefield.

Before the words had faded, a dozen aged bodies simultaneously exploded with a thunderous boom, utterly vanishing between heaven and earth.

Only that Peach Wood Sword, deeply thrust into the snow, was left behind, its glow gradually dimming...

......

The dense fog grew thin; the view grew wide.

The soldiers who had been cut apart from each other now saw those blood-stained yet steadfast faces, saw the fallen comrades, and saw those old Taoists who had gone to their deaths without hesitation, leaving no bones behind in order to win them a single breath of life.

Grief and rage replaced panic, burning fiercely in the chests of the remaining Great Xuan soldiers!

"Form up! Close in toward the Central Army!" Officers of every rank rasped their throats, shouting themselves hoarse.

The soldiers swiftly gathered from scattered small circular formations into larger defensive arrays.

Long spears stood like a forest, firearms were remounted, relying on the remaining fortifications and wagon frames to rebuild a defensive line.

However, this brief respite bought with the lives of so many experts came at too grim a price, and the time was far too short.

Those "Suppressing Objects" and "Array Bases" that symbolized protection and order had, under the prior sabotage by Ninja and the subsequent backlash of Evil God power, already been destroyed eight or nine out of ten.

Without the support of these "anchors," the faint Evil Qi possessed by the camp itself could no longer form any effective barrier.

The gray-yellow dense fog that had been scattered by the Earth Evil Yin Thunder, under the urging of several Evil Gods, surged in again from all directions!

Thicker than before, colder than before.

Even worse, amid the earlier chaos and the fog’s obstruction, the army’s direction of movement had gone awry.

When the fog thinned a little, everyone suddenly discovered that they had already been forced back into a deadland called "White Tiger Gully"!

Behind them was a steep cliff face covered in hard ice; to both sides were jagged, unscalable ridges.

The only exit lay directly ahead—precisely where the fog was deepest, where the Evil God’s power coiled, and where Ghost Soldiers and beasts watched like tigers eyeing their prey!

With Evil Gods blocking the front and sheer cliffs behind, and no path to flee to the left or right.

The remaining Cultivators were mostly young disciples of their sects, and most were wounded; together with the Liaodong Iron Cavalry, they were trapped fast within this White Tiger Gully.

Despair, like a shadow, once again shrouded every heart.

General Gao Zhenxiong’s armor was stained with blood; staring at the dense fog rolling in once more, his face turned iron-blue.

Slash!

Li Yan’s eyes were blood-red as he cleaved an Onmyoji cleanly in two.

He knew that relying on his own strength, he had absolutely no way to reverse the heavens.

"Protect me!"

With that thought, Li Yan barked harshly at Wang Daoxuan, Sha Lifei and the others beside him, then suddenly sat down cross-legged.

He gripped the Hook Paper tightly in his palm, sinking his mind into it.

To communicate with cross-realm Divines, especially outside the Divine Land of the Divine State, was anything but easy.

Yet it was not impossible.

Back when he was recovering in Japan, he had faintly sensed a trace of aura.

Though it was elusive, it was still hope.

Li Yan did not hesitate in the slightest; facing the Hook Paper, he spat three mouthfuls of blood essence containing his Lifebound Essence Qi in succession.

This method would consume his foundation; it was the first time he’d used it.

At the same time, his hands flashed like butterflies weaving through flowers, instantly casting out three Astral Orders!

At the issuing of the first Astral Order, the Sha Qi of the Hook Paper surged; Li Yan’s face turned deathly pale, his body shuddering violently.

At the issuing of the second Astral Order, the Astral Bane almost solidified; the Hook Paper burned like a branding iron, and fine threads of blood seeped from Li Yan’s seven orifices.

The third Astral Order—sent!

Li Yan grunted low, blood spilling from the corner of his mouth.

The Hook Paper, put bluntly, was a small-sized passage to the Daluo Law Realm.

What he had to do was to expand this passage as much as possible.

Forcing himself to endure the agony like his Divine Soul being torn apart, his mind finally followed that faint link and extended outward.

Li Yan’s spirit grew somewhat dazed; at last, he pierced through layer upon layer of barriers and touched that vast and distant existence!
