The Blade-Wielding Legend
Chapter 1745 - 880: Eerie Apparitions—Lost in the Fog (Part 3)
"Either be buried in the long river of history, disappearing completely as the last ancestors who remember you die."
He turned and his gaze swept over each mass of black mist: "Now, it’s time to return!"
"The Jianmu has pried open the rift in the Dharma Realm, the Heavenly Court Emperors collectively vanishing, the Yin Law and Heavenly Rules are teetering..."
"Why... can those sanctioned True Gods enjoy the incense?!"
"Why... do mortals use their crude imagination to shape you?!"
"Go, let these ants witness what a true ’God’ really is!"
The black mist roared and boiled!
The cave shook, stalactites fell down, crashing into the water pond.
Countless ancient, violent, barbaric thoughts intertwined and clashed, forming a silent roar.
Hu Li trembled on the ground, yet his teeth chattered with excitement.
He could sense that these "Ancient Spirits" summoned by Zhao Changsheng from the dust of history could easily crush those so-called Immortals at the Five Immortals Hall. And his act of sacrificing disciples and helping Jianmu connect the Earth Vein channel will surely yield greater rewards—not just longevity, but power...
"Go now."
Zhao Changsheng waved his hand, "Keep your eyes on the Liaodong Camp. The real show will begin once the Nameless Statue is brought back."
Hu Li bowed and retreated.
......
At the same time, at the Liaodong Frontline Camp.
The statue was placed in an empty tent at the northwest corner of the camp, its surroundings plastered with talismans, and eight Mystic Sect Disciples took turns guarding outside.
In the main tent, Li Yan, Wang Daoxuan, Sha Lifei, and several Taoist High Priests sat around, the wooden box laid open with the scattered items brought back from Wild Wolf Valley.
An old Taoist from Dragon and Tiger Mountain with the surname Zhang picked up a clay figurine, examining the inscriptions at its base, his brows furrowed: "Cui Family, Jin Family... these are confidants of the Goryeo royal family. If these curse killing techniques take effect, the enemy command structure on the front line will collapse instantly. But why mix in the names of Central Plains generals?"
"To confuse the eyes!"
A nun sent by the Mao Mountain Sect spoke in a deep voice, "Or perhaps these curses were never meant just for the Goryeo people."
"Look at these needles—’Cui Family’ figures are pinned with willow wood needles, willow wood is Yin, targeting the living; but ’Captain Liu’ is pinned with peach wood needles, peach wood is for evil exorcism, clearly targeting the dead, preventing their spirits from causing trouble."
Wang Daoxuan held the Turtle Shell Compass half a foot above the statue.
At first, the compass needle did not move, but it gradually began to rotate slowly, spinning faster and faster, until it emitted a creaking moan.
"The Earth Vein Qi has been activated," his face darkened, "this statue is like a funnel, pulling in the surrounding Earth Vein Yin Sha. But strangely, the Yin Sha absorbed is not being stored, but... dissipating, dispersing into the air."
The tent fell silent.
Everyone realized what this meant.
If the statue continues to draw in Yin Sha to disperse within the camp, the Fengshui layout of the entire military camp would slowly be corrupted, eventually becoming a place where Evil Spirits gather.
By then, no external enemies would be needed, as evil would breed within the camp itself.
"First seal it off."
An old High Priest from Dragon and Tiger Mountain concluded gravely: "Use a triple talisman formation to isolate it from the Earth Vein, and tomorrow, let’s have the geomancers accompanying the army examine which Earth Vein this statue is connected to."
However, sealing it was not smooth.
After the talisman formation was set, more dark red liquid began oozing from the holes on the statue’s surface, the liquid was corrosive, penetrating the innermost talisman paper.
After changing the talisman paper three times, it was only with the talisman ink mixed with black dog blood and vermillion that they barely managed to hold it back.
Nothing happened that night.
......
Next morning, before dawn, fog suddenly arose within the camp.
The fog was peculiar.
It wasn’t the milky white of ordinary morning mist, but tinged with gray and yellow, like mixed with dust.
Stranger still, the fog lingered only within the camp, ten steps beyond the camp wall it was still clear.
The fog was so thick it couldn’t be dispersed, beyond five steps one couldn’t see a person’s face, the lanterns on the flagpoles blurred into hazy glows within the fog.
Li Yan was awakened by urgent footsteps outside the tent.
He lifted the flap and stepped out, only to see figures looming in the mist, mixed with suppressed cries of alarm.
"Report—!"
A sentry stumbled in running, his face pale, "From the Supply Camp... three people are missing!"
"When?"
"Discovered during the shift change, the bedding is still there, but the people are gone, only a puddle of water on the ground!"
"Two missing from the Navy Camp as well!"
Another messenger rushed in, "They said they went out for a night call, but never returned!"
"Night watch soldiers at the stables disappeared, the horses were spooked and trampled, injuring several..."
Reports of disappearances came one after another.
In less than an hour, a total of seventeen people had gone missing from the camp, each disappearing alone in the mist, leaving behind only water stains or disturbed footprints at the scene, footprints that often abruptly ended as if the persons vanished into thin air...
