Chapter 52 [Bonus Chapter] Forest Encounter
With a flash of white light, Leon found himself standing in the middle of a wide dirt path that was lined by a forest on either side.
“Huh?” He was shocked at how Michael had just sent him off without answering his question of how he would blend in. Leon raised a hand to slap against his skull, but froze in the next moment.
“What… is this?” He gaped in shock as he stared at the dark skin that covered his arm. He quickly raised his other arm to see it was covered in skin too, before hurriedly looking and patting all over his body.
“Hahaha!” He cheered and quickly opened his status page.

Leon was stunned when he saw his status. Aside from the stat increases, what truly drew his attention was the ‘Human Form’ beside his race, and the new skill <Adaptable Body>. Did the skill allow him to change into whatever form he wanted? If that was so, then did that not mean that he did not have to stick to just a human form?
‘This is amazing!’ He thought and clenched his fist. Also, he had gained a new stat with this form. After a bit of thought, he figured that the Vitality stat had to do with the fact that he now had flesh, skin and organ of a living being, so as long as that part of his stayed healthy and in top condition, his Vitality would not go down. The Vitality stat had given him another two thousand health points, which when added to his health pool, would be just short of ten thousand. This was a tremendous gain when compared to the measly hundreds of health points he had started out with when he initially woke up in this world!
Leon was just about to summon Nedra when he heard the sound of rapid hoofbeat approaching his location. He turned around to see a carriage speeding straight at him. Quickly he stepped out of the path to avoid being run over, but the carriage also began slowing to a stop.
“Oi, you there!” The coachman for the carriage called out to Leon in a rushed tone. The carriage quickly came to a stop right before Leon, and the coachman looked at Leon, “You can fight, yes? You are carrying a sword.”
“Hmm? Yes, I can fight. Any problem?” Leon raised a brow and folded his arms. He secretly enjoyed the feeling of being able to raise his eyebrows again, but that was not what was important at the moment.
“Good, we need your help. A group of monsters attacked our caravan. Our men are fighting a losing battle, and we need help, quickly.” The man said, his tone laced with deep urgency.
“And what’s in it for me?” Leon asked, not budging from his position. He had seen this a lot in movies and animations. Where a group of people would set up a trap to lure in a do-gooder, and then kill him or even worse. He was not falling for that.
“Please, we will pay you!” The man spoke urgently, his eyes bulging. Leon sighed and nodded his head at that. Either the man was a very good actor, or they truly needed his help.
“Alright, then. Let’s go.” Leon hopped up beside the man and the man turned the carriage around before whipping the reigns, sending the horses speeding forward at their fastest. Trees and bushes sped by quickly, and in less than a minute, the sounds of battle reached Leon’s ears. A wide clearing soon came into view, just beside the dirt path, where several injured people were doing battle against a hoard of hunched, towering creatures that wielded massive clubs that looked like they had been carved out from trees.
“ROAAARR!” A massive beast bellowed and swung the club in its hand at a brown haired man, who quickly stepped back to dodge, before diving right back in and stabbing his sword into the armpit of the beast.
Boom!
A small explosion of flames spread, and the beast was thrown back, slamming down onto the ground and raising a cloud of dust. However, its injury rapidly healed at a rate that was visible to the naked eye.
“Are those…” Leon trailed off with wide eyes as the carriage came to a stop. “Trolls?”
“Indeed, they are! Please, help my friends!” The coachman nodded animatedly and spoke.
“Alright.” Leon hopped off the seat casually and rolled his shoulders. He scratched his cheek as he activated a skill.
<Spirit Storage>!
Black smoke rose from nothing and spread around as many forms took shape underneath its cover.
Tap tap tap tap.
The sound of rapid taps exploded at once before dozens of black figures dashed out from underneath the cover of the smoke. Dozens of legs rushed forward, propelling Leon’s summons towards the battle as quickly as possible. In less than ten seconds, the first millipedes had already arrived at the battlefield, and were approaching the downed troll.
All this happened so quickly that the people fighting barely had the time to adjust before the trolls that they were battling against were drowned in a multitude of legs and chitin.
