Chapter 516 The Enigma of Nolan and Leon’s Condition

?Nedra watched the unfolding battles with interest from a distance. She had hidden her presence so well that even Leon’s strongest summon present, Kaladin, was unable to catch the slightest hint of her presence through his widespread lightning senses.

“This is an interesting battle, don’t you think?” She asked the young, white haired boy that stood a few feet behind her with a smile.

“Yes, Mother.” The white haired boy, who looked to be in his late teens, nodded his head as he watched the fight with rapt attention. His mind eagerly soaked in all the little hints that he was able to glean from the fast paced fights between each duo.

The young boy was none other than the little White Millipede that Nedra had been carrying everywhere with her ever since she had assumed her proper matriarchal position over the White Millipedes. His name was Nolan, and he was now an A rank. However, through some obscure means that was available to Nedra through her racial traits, she had been able to bypass the system and sneak him up to the Celestial Realm while making sure that he did not endure any backlash.

This was incredibly dangerous, as the abundant amounts of Divine Power that circulated through the entire Celestial Realm was enough to choke and kill any A rank in a matter of moments! ʀᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛʀs ᴀᴛ Nov(l)ꜰre .t

However, Nolan was a special case. There was something different about him compared to other beings, but he was able to withstand the amounts of Divine Power passing through his body, while also absorbing minute amounts of it to improve his level and strength. It was something unheard of! Even Leon’s abilities were not as ridiculous as that!

‘Perhaps it is because he is linked to me, just as I am linked to Leon.’ Nedra thought to herself.

Nolan shared a special bond with Nedra, although not a Spirit Companion bond like Nedra shared with Leon. The bond between them was like a special Mother-Son bond that had been tied to their souls, allowing them to share their energies with one another. Nedra?guessed that it was this bond that allowed Nolan to withstand the Divine Powers, somehow pushing that burden to her, a God, who was not bothered by the energies. This allowed him to be in the Celestial Realm without suffering any backlash.

Regardless of what it was that Nedra thought, the two of them continued to observe the battle from beginning to end.

In the past months, Nedra had been focusing on herself. Some might have seen this as a selfish act, as she was bond by soul to Leon, so she should have been by his side. However, Nedra did not see it that way. She believed that her strength was too ordinary to be worthy of fighting alongside Leon. Whenever they took action together, Nedra could not help but find areas where she was lacking in comparison to Leon and she had been plagued by her inability to provide concrete help to him in recent times.

‘It’s different now.’ Nedra smiled confidently. In the time she had spent in seclusion, she had focused on deepening her understanding of the Laws her Domain were centered upon – Mind and Soul.

The Laws of Mind and Soul were two rather obscure Laws. Depending on how one utilized them and deepened dependence on them, they might turn out strong, or mediocre.

When Leon had been reviving powerful Gods and celestial beings, there had been quite a few that possessed understanding of those Laws. Nedra had been able to learn directly from the experience of those ancient beings, quickly deepening her understanding of the Laws and also avoiding whatever pitfalls that those before her had taken. This allowed her strength to rise at a meteoric pace, while also remaining pure and untainted, allowing her to be able to show devastating power whenever she fought.

‘Leon, when will you emerge?’ She thought to herself and her mind drifted. The sight of the battle faded from view and what appeared before her was a chaotic realm that was covered in dark clouds and purple lightning. The ground beneath her was all black water, but the water was set ablaze by purple flames. Devastating winds tore through whatever pieces of land that were in the distance while rousing the black water underneath her.

At the center of this storm was none other than Leon. He was clad in nothing, leaving his obsidian bones exposed to the ravaging elements. His black bones burned with purple flames while bolts of purple lightning struck down at him intermittently. Gusts of wind surrounded him like tornadoes, threatening to tear him apart.

Parts of Leon’s body succumbed to the elements, turning to ashes that were blown away by the strong winds, but those parts were reconstructed by the purple flames, better and stronger than ever. The cycle repeated itself again and again. Each time a part of him succumbed, it would be restored in an even better state than it was before.

Nedra watched all this with a worried look. It looked like Leon’s body was doing fine as it was constantly being restored, but this was all slowly eating up his energy and that energy was not being replenished. If this went on until he was drained, then there would be no energy left for him to restore his body, which would eventually lead to his death.

Not only that, but the chaotic surroundings also showed how terribly Leon’s internal space was doing. If he could not restore it in time, then it would collapse on its own. If that happened, then even if Leon woke up before his energy ran out, then he would still be in a terrible state for a long time.

Nedra would help if she could. However, the help she could provide was limited. That was even considering the fact that a portion of their souls were merged. This was a trial that only Leon himself could overcome.
