Chapter 507 The Sting Of Defeat
Chapter 507 The Sting Of Defeat
The process that the Army of Destruction followed also hindered the plans of the Paragon of Undeath, but he felt that it was not too much of a big deal. If he could simply just swoop in and deal with Leon easily, then that would ruin the fun of the hunt. He loved to see those who had gained his interest squirm and try to escape his clutches, only to fail at the most critical moment.
As Devos fought against Raegan, the faithful minion of the Paragon of Undeath did his best to fight against the powerful foe that had charged at him. Raegan was by no means a pushover. Devos’ abundant experience after centuries of living did little to help him against the vicious onslaught of attacks that rained down on him.
Sure, his battle senses and intuition were much more refined after countless trials that he had gone through, but that did little to help, as Raegan’s senses were also firing at their peak. His fighting style was also very refined, as if he had been taught by a God.
Devos’ thoughts were not too far off the mark, as Nero had invested a lot of time in instilling Raegan with the essence of a warrior, turning the younger Obsidian Skeleton Ruler into the perfect fighter. Nero was sure that none could stand up in front of Raegan’s superior fighting skills.
However, Devos was no pushover, either. He exchanged blows with Raegan without losing an inch of ground. If he saw that there was no way to dodge an attack, then he would trade blow for blow, wanting to inflict as much damage onto Raegan as possible.
“YOUR BLOWS ARE WEAK!” Raegan bellowed as he threw himself onto Devos’ sword, the pitch black sword cleanly stabbing into his armor and piercing all the way through it, with its tip sticking out the back.
However, the blow had completely missed anything vital of Raegan. He had intentionally thrown himself on the sword in order to keep it busy while he got in close!
Whoosh!
Raegan’s spear suddenly shrunk, giving way for a short sword which he plunged into Devos’ side. The sword instantly erupted with dark blue and purple flames that caused Devos to let out a scream in pain. He felt his mind shake as the flames caused not only physical damage, but also attacked his soul directly!
It took much effort for him to find the strength to push Raegan off him and force Raegan to take back the shortsword. But even then, the burning pain lingered and Devos felt like his soul was constantly being stabbed with countless needles at a time.
“WHAT DID YOU DO?!” Devos’ yell shook the air as his composure fell apart. A hint of fear began to bubble within his soul.
“Hahaha! It took me some time, but I finally realized why you had that familiar flavor… You share a similar origin with my Master. But you are a mere summon. Your soul is WEAK! So, I targeted it! You are lucky that your soul did not shatter at once.” Raegan grinned wildly behind his helmet. The flames within his skull burned brightly, visible through his visor.
“I WILL MAKE YOU PAY!!!” Devos growled and tried to regain his composure.
“Try.” Raegan taunted as his spear returned to his hand. He held it up and pointed it at the angry summon. “Come.”
The words made Devos see red like an angry bull. He instantly charged forward at Raegan, but the latter was prepared.
When Devos was only a few meters away from him, the space around him suddenly solidified and stopped his movements for a second. However, that second was crucial and could decide the outcome of a battle on high level battlefields.
A magical rune formation appeared behind Devos and glowed before magic chains burst out and wrapped around Devos’ limbs, binding him in the air. This extended the time that Devos stayed invulnerable and exposed.
This time was more than enough for Raegan to carry out his killer move.
His spear burned with hot, black flames as he cocked back his arm. The flames did not singe Devos’ skin, nor did it make his armor hot. Instead, it burned his soul.
“No! NOOO!” Devos’ alarmed cry drew in the attention of his comrades and others that were around. But it did not make Raegan pause in his actions. He even became more focused.
BOOM!
The air around Raegan exploded as his arm blurred forward with a black light. A black light that struck Devos in the chest and shot out, continuing far off into the distance.
A hole was blasted clean through Devos’ chest and the charred hole was visible for all. There was no blood to be shown at the moment as all the blood in the vicinity of the injury had been evaporated by the blast. However, it was not long before drops of black blood began to drip from the wound.
Crack!
Devos’ armor cracked and his helmet shattered, revealing his face that was frozen with shock. His eyes were open wide, as if he was unable to believe that he had been bested by Raegan, who was such a young soul.
“I…I… lost?” Disbelief was all that was apparent from his words as his black eyes lost their luster and his body began to grow limp.
“Yes, you lost. Your pride was your downfall. And I shall kill anyone who covets my Father’s belongings in the same way as you.” As he said this, Raegan turned around and pointed his spear at the others that were still fighting, as if stating a Divine Declaration that was meant to be passed on to the masses.
His fight had been short, but intense. He spotted a few others that were also cleaning up their battlefields, but they had not been as forceful and intense as his own methods. They instead chose to preserve their strength and take it steadily in case any more powerful A ranks appeared out of the portal.
