The Black Necromancer

Chapter 451 The World's Reaction

Nero and Kaladin’s breakthroughs came the day after Nedra and Grokus’. News of their ascension was soon spreading through the Central Continent through various means. When people heard of this, they found it hard to believe. A newly established power already had such strength backing it up? But then again, this was tied to the mysterious Leon Cromwell who had risen up with such speed a couple of years ago without warning.

“He has done it again, shocking the whole world.” In the Gublin Empire, Leonidas stood at the highest point of his castle and looked to the south where the Cromwell Empire was located. He had a complicated expression on his face. He could scarcely believe how far Leon had come.𝒪𝓥𝐥xt.𝗰𝚘𝑀

He still remembered quite clearly that the first time his empire had been directly involved with Leon, Leon had still been a mere Pseudo A rank being. Now, he was a God, and multiple of his subordinates had also become Gods.

Elsewhere, deep under the sea, in the Empire of Oceabal, Ursula folded her arms over her chest as she sat back on her majestic throne. Her advisors were gathered at the base of the throne, having just shared their thoughts on how they should treat the Cromwell Empire from now on.

The advisors proposed forming a closer bond to the Cromwell Empire, just like the one they had with the Purple Peninsula and the Gublin Empire. Ursula had no objections to that. It was not easy to get in the good graces of a God, and she was happy that she had built the beginnings of a friendly relationship with Leon while she could.

Meanwhile, in the Armstrong family, a cheery atmosphere filled the entire mansion.

“Your friend, Leon, and his summons are up and active and you are still middling about at A rank. Where is that Armstrong fire?!” Dion cackled as he slapped Jet’s back, sending his grandson stumbling forward.

“Ha ha…” Jet rolled his eyes with a small smile and a dry laugh. “Not everyone has the monstrous talent that Leon has, grandfather. You should know that, you old relic.” He rebutted playfully.

Dion paused in shock, surprised at the sharp rebuttal of his grandson. “You little brat!” He growled and created a giant hand of water to smack Jet but Jet promptly teleported away.

All around Datar, people that were familiar had similar reactions. They were happy that an ally or friend of theirs was doing well, but it also made them long for higher peaks. Many people went into closed training in order to grow their strength as quickly as possible.

As people who stood at the top of the world, they also felt the change in atmosphere. To them, it was almost as if the ambient mana in the atmosphere was dancing with joy. It also became much easier for them to comprehend the Laws that formed the world!

This was a massive boon to everyone who wished to break through the limit of the world and become a God. Their paths had never been clearer!

However, not everyone was in a merry mood. A certain powerful human who went by the name of Andrew Aurelius was in a downcast mood as he nursed a jug of beer in the corner of a tavern.

Andrew had spent a lot of time to get to Nylenor, the heart of the Elven Empire, only to fall short of his goal, which was to make the newly crowned Empress of Rivera to fall for him.

“Man up, Relly. It was never meant to be.” Margaret, Andrew’s teammate said as she patted Andrew’s shoulder while holding her own jug of beer. Her cheeks had even gone a bit red as she was already a bit past tipsy.

“Leave the man to drink away his heartbreak, Meg.” Shane murmured as he sat back with his arms folded over his chest. His eyes were sharp as he constantly kept watch of their surroundings. He was the only one who had chosen not to drink so he could keep a clear head. In fact, even if he had chosen to drink, the chances of getting drunk were slim. That was because there were very few things that could muddle the heads of powerful people like themselves. If ordinary people drank a sip of it, then they could kiss their lives goodbye.

“Psh! If we leave him, then he’ll drink to death! Who cares if his feelings were unrequited?!” Margaret suddenly barked and slammed her jug on the table, causing it to shatter into pieces. The drink in the jug spilled over he hand and the edges of the table.

The commotion drew over many stares, as well as the irritated glare of the owner of the tavern who had been watching them for some time now thanks to Andrew’s frequent groans and Margaret’s loud voice.

Shane sighed and quickly used magic to clean it up. The glass on the floor also hovered in the air for a bit before quickly reforming a jug and landing on the table with a soft sound. It was empty, though. He then looked apologetically at the owner who simply nodded his head.

“You two are being ridiculous. Instead of wasting our time here, I think its best if we do what we are best at and find some good missions here.” He scolded the two A ranks that he traveled with.

“Boo! You’re being a buzzkill!” Margaret, in her drunken stupor, said loudly.

Shane could only sigh and shake his head. He looked out of the window of the tavern and up at the evening sky.

‘Up there, there are Gods. The news is that a few people have already begun ascending… When will we join them? Will we even be able to?’ The Elf thought to himself as he turned his attention back to his two comrades. They were all powerful Peak A ranks. Before, they did not know the path to ascension, but now, it seemed that path had been reopened. Now, it was up to them to make that leap.
