Chapter 431 Alvar's Retreat
No words were exchanged between the two combatants anymore before they both sprung into action. Their movements were blurs to even Peak A ranks, and in an instant, an entire area became a dead zone. Anything that entered could be torn to shreds in the next moment.
Boom!
Leon’s sword clashed with the spear of Alvar’s golden spear and a powerful shockwave spread out. They both pushed back and in the next moment, hundreds of strikes were exchanged between the two. Deep gouges were torn in the earth and any rocks that were sent into the air were shredded into dust in the next moment.
All this was just the raw martial prowess of the two fighters. No magic had been used yet at this point.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Black and golden waves of light flooded that area of the battlefield, blinding anyone who tried to spectate the battle. Only certain people were able to discern what was truly happening underneath the cover of all the light, dust and thick and rolling mana.
Alvar gritted his teeth as he found himself at a disadvantage against Leon. When it came to pure strength, he was on the backfoot against his opponent. It was for this reason that he abruptly decided to switch up his approach and add in his vast and deep expertise of magic into the fight.
The moment he made this decision, Alvar did not waste any time before casting the strongest spells that he could cast instantly without any preparation time. A golden-white light instantly bloomed between him and Leon and a golden flame lit up on the tip of his spear as he stabbed forward, carrying an explosive force with his strike.
Leon was not any slower than him. His pitch black sword swung an arc while carrying a burning black flame with it.
Bang!
The two powerful energies collided and created an explosion that forced them back, but it did not interrupt their movements.
Three black fireballs appeared behind Leon and arced through the air, shooting straight at Alvar. In response, Alvar waved his spear and a golden snake rushed at the three fireballs, swallowing them before imploding from the potent energy contained within it.
“Hup!” Leon held out his right hand and pulled back and Alvar felt a sudden force grab hold of his body, sending him flying straight at Leon.
“Argh!” Golden flames burst out around Alvar and the force around him lost its hold. However, he did not have enough time to guard against the follow up attack as Leon suddenly appeared right beside him and slashed at his waist.
Bang!
Alvar’s body was sent flying to the ground, creating a large crater. The armor around his body was dented where Leon had hit him and a black and corrosive power began to eat away at the armor.
‘How did he get so strong so quickly?!’ Alvar thought to himself as he jumped out of the crater, narrowly dodging the black fireballs that crashed down into it. Before he could catch his breath, a dark purple light flashed over his body and he felt his body become sluggish and weakened. A murky green light followed right after and the state of his armor immediately deteriorated. A feeling of his body failing him rose up within him, but he quickly purged his body of the effects of the two debuffs.
Unfortunately, Leon’s goal of slowing down Alvar had already been achieved. He appeared behind the Elven Emperor and grabbed him by the back of his head. A terrifying force slammed into the back of Alvar’s head, sending his eyes spinning. Leon once again applied his Mystic Eyes debuff skills. As he did so, he kept on using his Gravity magic to slam into the back of Alvar’s head, making it harder for the Emperor to react and counter attack.ππ±πΏπ©xt.π°πͺπ
A dark red cube suddenly appeared beside Leon. It was as small as his eye socket and was revolving on its axis. All of a sudden, with each revolution it made, it grew larger and larger until it became large enough for Alvar’s body to fit inside.
This cube was the Cube of Infinity that one of his newer summons, Garrix, had used to trap him when he was still a Low A rank. He intended to use it to trap Alvar now, as he was currently more useful alive than dead at the moment.
Alvar’s eyes snapped open in shock when he saw the Infinity Cube. He naturally knew of this powerful treasure. He knew of what it could do, and he knew that escaping from it would be incredibly hard if he was caught. Especially if the cube remained in the possession of Leon, where he could constantly suppress whoever was trapped inside.
Just before Leon could engulf him with the Infinity Cube, a bright light burst out of Alvar’s body and he vanished right from Leon’s grasp.
“What?” Leon paused, having not expected his opponent to vanish so suddenly. It was unexpected for him to have been able to carry out such an instant teleportation technique while under heavy suppression like so.
His powerful senses swept over the vast battlefield but failed to find any traces of Alvar. He could only sigh as he figured that the Emperor had fled with his tail between his legs. It was a smart move, as if he had stayed any longer, then he would probably have been sealed by Leon in the Infinity Cube.
Leon then looked around the battlefield. Even after he and Alvar began fighting, the battle between the Elven defenders and the Rebels had not halted. In fact, it had become even more fervent! Blood was spilled and bodies were burnt under the powerful spells of mages. Bodies were split and bones were crushed under the heels of overbearing warriors.
Leon’s cold, eyeless gaze passed over the battlefield and the Elven defenders felt chills run down their backs. They knew what awaited them. But even still, their movements became more rushed and careless, intending to drag down one more rebel to the afterlife with them.
