The Black Necromancer

Chapter 351 A Match Between Brothers (2)

Raegan scoffed and waved his spear at the two incoming golems. He slashed horizontally, creating two burning black lines on the chests of the golems, which subsequently blew up, scattering rocks and dost everywhere.

At this time, Daren had successfully created more distance between himself and Raegan. He rose four golems this time, while preparing multiple elemental spells at the same time. A fire ball, a wind sphere, and an ice javelin were formed around him at the same time.

“Have a taste of this!” Daren exclaimed and sent the spells out. The fireball was the first to reach Raegan. However, the spear wielding Knight did not appear scared. He firmly held his shield in front of him to receive the attack.

In the next moment, a totally unexpected thing occurred. Instead of exploding the moment it came into contact with Raegan’s shield, the fireball seemed to gain a sheen around it that originated from the kite shield. Raegan pushed upwards and the fireball soared into the sky before exploding.

Next was the ice javelin. It slammed into the kite shield and began to grow and spread. However, it was not able to take root properly on the surface of Raegan’s shield, allowing him to distance himself away from the spreading ice.

But that wasn’t all!

The wind sphere that had been cast last was hovering in the sky. The moment Raegan stepped toward Daren again, it exploded, raining down dozens of powerful wind blades on him!

Raegan was forced to stop and hold his shield above his head in order to prevent unnecessary damage to himself.

In the time that the spear wielding knight was taking care of this, Daren was already busy with casting more spells. Although his skill levels were not high at all, his mind was still strong and powerful enough for him to maintain multiple spells at a time while preparing even more!

“Whoa! It’s a sparring match!”

All of a sudden, a few people from the town approached the arena. They had been drawn in by the commotion that was creating a lot of noise and had come to see. They occasionally witnessed a few matches between the guards of the city, but it had become a rare thing lately.

As the first people began to take seats in the stands, more and more people were attracted. Even still, the two sparring Obsidian Skeletons did not let themselves be distracted by the crowd.

At this time, Raegan had somehow gotten close to Daren. He was just at a distance close enough to attack Daren with his spear. He stabbed forward while bursting with power at the last moment. But the space around his body suddenly hardened, constricting his movement ever so slightly.

This created a brief window which Daren eagerly exploited. He had used his meager control over space with Space magic to bind the space around Raegan. Unfortunately, Raegan was too strong, while his mastery over space was too weak, allowing the former to brute force his way through the bound space.

However, that brief moment was enough for him to strike out with his incredibly sturdy staff and smash Raegan’s jaw aside, sending his body flying away with great speed.𝒪𝗏𝔩xt.𝔬𝐌

Whoosh!

Raegan’s body slid for a distance before he was able to regain his footing. He stood with his head slightly bowed without moving.

“That hurt, brother.” He said slowly. His body was calm, but his tone spoke an entirely different story. He held out his hand with the shield and a dark light enveloped the shield. It warped and became smaller until it was reduced down to the size of an arm shield that was holstered on the back of his forearm. Then a second shield appeared in his left hand. He had chosen to go all out!

“I know. I made sure not to hold back when I hit you.” Daren said in response as he put more distance between himself and Raegan.

“I see. Then I will not longer hold back against you.” As Raegan spoke, his body was slowly enveloped in flames. Black and blue flames burned over his armor that was covered in fine inscriptions. The flames gathered around his visor, in the joints of his armor, and on his back.

“I will do the same.” Daren calmly replied. As soon as he finished speaking, a massive burst of magical energy erupted from his body. His hood was pushed back, revealing a skull that was blazing with all sorts of magical colors. Many colors burned in the flames that poured out of all the orifices of his skull. His arms spread and the ambient mana in the surrounding atmosphere answered his call, allowing him to levitate above the ground with no effort.

The two majestic sights spurred the crowd that had grown greatly to cheer. Their voices reached the skies as men pumped their fists and women screamed their lungs out. Everyone felt their blood pump through their veins so quickly that they thought it was boiling. Rarely did they ever get to see such a high level fight!

Kaladin and Nero turned to each other and shared a surprised look. They had only set up a simple spar. They never intended for it to get so serious, catching the attention of the people, while also making the participants of the spar to take it seriously and go all out.

However, this was not a bad thing. In fact, the more the two Obsidian Skeletons expressed their powers, the more accurately their two seniors would be able to evaluate their strength and plan their further growth path.

“The master will be happy to see them so strong. They cannot hold a candle to his might at Peak B rank, though.” Nero commented as he turned back to the arena. The two combatants were preparing to exchange a new round of blows.

“You are right. He was much more powerful than this back then.” Kaladin said, his eyes flashing with lightning as he recalled those earlier days. He also turned his attention back to the combatants down in the arena, eager to see more of what his master had created.
