The Black Necromancer

Chapter 308 Shameful Retreat

“Hahaha! That boy never ceases to amaze me!” Leonidas boomed with laughter as he watched the Demons retreat. With the retreat of the A ranks that thought they could put down Leon, the entire Demon army had called for a retreat.

Leonidas had nearly jumped in to save Richard when Leon suddenly appeared. But his sudden appearance had given Richard enough breathing room to counter attack Rudy. The latter had frozen as soon as Leon appeared, and it had cost him a lot. He was badly injured and covered in vicious claw marks as he fled the battlefield.

The black fur that had spread over Leonidas’ face as he had been prepared to fight slowly vanished. Although he still had much fur all over his body, it was not as intense and ferocious as it had been moments ago.

“He really is special, huh?” Ursula hummed beside Leonidas. As Peak A ranks, it was only normal that they knew a lot. They also knew of the existence of Divinity, and they had clearly sensed it in abundance as Leon performed his shenanigans earlier.

As the two spoke amongst themselves, Leon landed on the ground not far from them. The white flames around him had long since faded away, allowing him to look more ordinary and less majestic.

“Bravo! That was quite the show!” Leonidas clapped his hands at Leon. “I’m sure you planned that dramatic entry.” He laughed.

“How did you know?” Leon grinned back.

“Because that is what I would have done.” The man winked and laughed loudly.

While Leonidas was laughing, Ursula stood to the side and continued to examine Leon. She had to reevaluate him now after seeing his performance. She had already squeezed out the fact that he was a God’s Envoy from Leonidas, and the matter of how two Gods had come to see Leon before he had vanished was also shared with those of importance among the defenders.

However, never in her life had she seen a God’s Envoy display such strength. Normally, they were indeed a cut above the rest, but this was just too exaggerated in Leon’s case. Right now, as she looked at him, she could only feel the power of a Low A rank that was straddling the line between Low and Mid, but nothing more.

But such a person should not have been able to defeat Axel. Not to mention the speed of how he did it.

Ursula recalled the fact that all Envoys of Gods could tap into a tiny bit of Divinity from their Gods in dire circumstances. However, that tiny bit would have only given them an edge. It was just like touching a pool with the tip of your finger. It did not get you wet even though you came in contact with the pool.

But in Leon’s case, it was almost as if he had been bathing in Divinity before coming to the battlefield. The white flames were also something that struck her. It did not look like something that could be produced by Divinity that would be aligned with Unholy energy. It was just too… pure.

‘Who is this man, really?’ She thought to herself before donning a small smile and walking forward.

“Leon, that was quite a show you put up there.” She complimented him as she stopped by his side and hooked their arms together.𝗈𝒱𝗅xt.𝗇t

“Err, thanks.” Leon smiled a bit, but it did not show because of the stiffness of his skull.

“Now that you have returned, we should plan how to push back against the Demons and drive them off the continent. Their presence here is making things much more difficult.” Leonidas said.

As he spoke, the other A ranks that had been fighting in various parts of the battlefield. One notable person that caught Leon’s eye was the winged figure of Amelia Steelheart.

The blonde woman landed gracefully and the golden wings on her back faded away. She somehow radiated a pureness that seemed to blind the eyes of anyone who looked at her with less than sincere thoughts. As soon as she landed, her gaze turned to Leon and a fire lit up in the depths of her eyes.

“Leon Cromwell, we meet again.” She greeted Leon.

“Indeed we do.” Leon nodded his head. He was supposed to have beef with her, but at the moment, he could not care. Instead, he had much more to do.

“I should get going. I have a few things to oversee.” Leon turned to Leonidas who had assumed the role of the overall commander of this whole army.

“Already? You just got here.” The man frowned.

“I know, but this is rather important. When I return, then we can kick off the plan to push the Demons back. In the meantime, I will leave someone else in my stead.” As Leon said that, a burst of darkness rose up beside him, revealing the figure of none other than Axel.

The man stood with a pale face and dark red eyes. He had been turned into a rather strange Undead by Leon’s powers that had been boosted by Divinity.

“I am at your service, Master.” Axel bowed his head to Leon.

Normally, Leon had a habit of renaming his summons that had already possessed identities before becoming his servants, but this time, he did not rename Axel. He felt that the name was already fitting enough for the man.

Everyone paused when they saw the man. They knew of his ability and how important he was to the other side. The man was a lone mercenary with mixed origins. He was a hybrid of a human and Demon, so he had some traits of both. However, he only looked like an average human.

His Vector Manipulation skill was so overpowered that they could only imagine how powerful he was now that he had become Leon’s summon.

“He can be a useful asset on the battlefield. I will also leave a few of my summons here to help things out.” Leon told them before nodding and turning away. He made his way away from them and took to the skies to get to the nearest teleportation formation.
