Chapter 269 Garrix's Plan
“Sometimes, some people experience a sudden burst in power upon reaching a higher rank. Unlike others that need to retreat to consolidate their new power, these ones have a more explosive breakthrough. Perhaps that is what we are seeing now.” Leonidas chimed in.
“You are right. This must be a temporary outburst, or else, I would be quite afraid of what will happen.” Gael agreed.
“Imagine hundreds or thousands of A rank summons…” Dorian’s face crumpled. He could not help but think of the worst. Even now, he was not yet completely used to being around Leon due to his nature as an Undead and a being born of Unholy Energy.
“He will be a truly frightening being if that happens, and there is no doubt he would be able to take over the world. However, that possibility is nothing short of fantasy. It is impossible for such a powerful being to exist if it is not a God.” Leonidas said firmly.π£π xt.πΈπ
At this point, Leon returned to the group.
“I have dealt with the Phantom Millipedes.” He said with a stiff tone. However, he did not share his suspicions of their origins to the rest. That was for him to take care of on his own. He needed to find the queen of the ghostly creatures and end her as soon as he could.
“That was quick.” Richard was surprised as he threw an arm around Leon’s shoulders.
“Mhm, it wasn’t much of a challenge. They were all C rank monsters.” Leon hummed and folded his arms as he observed the combat power that his two Obsidian Skeleton summons were showing.
“Don’t you think they are strange? Its weird how they suddenly appeared when the Demons made landfall.” Richard ran a hand through his hair as he spoke.
Everyone agreed with Richard’s statement. Already, a few of them had come to the conclusion that the Phantom Millipedes were Demonic Beasts. However, Leon thought differently and harbored doubts on the origin of the Phantom Millipedes.
“I will handle searching for the nest of these Phantom Millipedes and wiping them out.” He voiced his intentions.
“That’s fine with us.” The others agreed. They believed that Leon would be the best person to handle this matter, as he had many powerful summons, and unlike the living soldiers, if his summons fell in battle, they could still be risen.
Leon nodded and didn’t say anything more. He would need to form a proper plan on how to sniff out the nest of the Phantom Millipedes. He needed to do more than just spreading out his summons through the Desolate Lands. There was just too much space to cover.
‘I will ask Kai if he can make anything to help me search for them.’ Leon thought to himself.
Kai was a genius when it came to crafting inscribed and enchanted gear. Perhaps he could make something that would make finding the millipedes easier. Even if it only barely worked, being able to find hotspots of gathered millipedes would be a great step forward.
The battle soon came to an end as the Demonic Beasts began to pull back. Thousands of them had fallen in battle without being able to make any gains, so the Demons who were in charge of this attack had decided to pull back and prepare for an attack on a larger scale.
.
.
“Your Excellency, Garrix.” A Demon bowed his head as he stepped into a small chamber that was made of stone. A single being sat crossed legged in the center of the room, meditating. The being was covered in black armor, but red light glowed through the gaps in the armor. A bright red light flashed behind the visor of the helmet when the Demon spoke.
“What is it?” Garrix asked. Garrix was the Undead that had been sent by the strongest Undead King to capture or kill Leon.
“I bring news concerning the frontlines.” The Demon spoke with a bit of hesitance.
“Go on…” Garrix nodded his head and the malevolent aura around him lessened a bit, relieving pressure from the Demon’s shoulders.
“The Undead Necromancer you asked us to watch out for has appeared. He was able to fend off the attack of the Demonic Beasts thanks to three of his summons which possess A rank strength.” The Demon bowed his head and placed the report in front of Garrix.
Garrix remained silent as he picked up the sheet of paper and read through it. At a certain point, the light behind his visor lit up and the air around him turned violent and hot, forcing the Demon to take a step back as several small cuts appeared over his skin.
“Y-Your Excellency, Garrix!” The Demon exclaimed as he fell down, bleeding all over.
Garrix did not reply, but simply stood up, the air around him abuzz with malevolent energy. The red energy was so powerful that gashes appeared all over the stone room around him. Luckily, the Demon was spared and he quickly ran out of the room before he would be sliced into pieces.
‘A summon with a Sword Domain?’ Garrix thought to himself. He had been a sword enthusiast before his death, and that enthusiasm remained even as an Undead being. Seeing the report that gave a short description of Nero’s abilities, Garrix was enthused.
However, he did not forget the reason he was here. He quickly regained his composure and shoved his excitement to the back of his mind.
‘First, I must capture the Necromancer. Then I will take him to the master.’ Garrix nodded his head as he calmed down. He walked out of the ruined room and passed the shaken form of the Demon that had come to give him the report without even paying attention to the shaken Demon. There was no doubt that the Demon was scarred mentally, but he did not care. He only had one thing on his mind right now, and that was completing his objective.
