The Black Necromancer

Chapter 24 Delving Back Into The Nest

When morning rolled around, Leon led Elena and his entourage of summons to the Ghost Millipede Nest. He was much stronger than before, and even though he had not yet maxed out his levels, with the creatures he would be facing, he guessed that he would be able to max them out while fighting. The same applied to his summons.

“Is this safe?” Elena asked hesitantly as she climbed down the hole that led into the millipede nest.

“Very. With my little army, we should be able to last well down here. And besides, I don’t plan on taking us down to the queen’s chamber right away.” Leon replied casually.

He had been planning a trip down here for a while now. He planned to lead his millipedes and Kaladin into the nest, killing the millipedes that they could. When they had all maxed out their levels, then they would descend the dark pit in order to reach the Obsidian Pool, where they would all advance for the first time, while Leon would advance his race for the second time. After that, they would climb back out, then wipe out the millipedes.

“If you say so.” Elena sighed and followed Leon deeper into the nest. In less than a minute, her jaw dropped to the floor, and her wide eyes were staring all over the tunnel. She had finally seen the High Grade Mana Crystals.

“These are all Mana Crystals! I can’t tell their grade, but they look to be of high purity, which means they must be quite good!” Elena exclaimed happily.

“They are good, but I have already laid claim to them. You can’t take any.” Leon held up his right index finger and wagged it like he was teasing a child.

Elena pouted, but she did not say anything more. She kept following Leon, and before long, they came across their first millipede. This one was just like the others on the outside, the ordinary Ghost Millipedes.

Leon immediately summoned his dozen Undead Millipedes, and they rushed forward to do combat with the Ghost Millipede. The little critter had spotted them earlier, and immediately uttered a screech to call upon its brethren. In just a few short moments, the tunnel was already filled with over a dozen Ghost Millipedes, and a couple of Ghost Millipede Soldiers.

Kaladin strode forward with his right hand raised. His left hand was folded against his chest, and with his robe, he looked like some kind of faithful preacher that had come to spread the word of some God to the unbelieving peasants of some slum.

A ball of lighting and a ball of fire rotated around each other in his held up palm. With a flick of his wrist, the lightning shot out in a bolt, striking one of the Ghost Millipede Soldiers. It was thrown back, and was badly injured, while its companion was merely a bit scorched.

The fireball was sent out next, and with a small explosion, it engulfed the second Ghost Millipede soldier. It was also badly injured, but not dead. Their levels were high enough for them to survive the two attacks, but they were so badly injured that they could no longer move.

“Go ahead and wipe them up.” Leon told Elena.

Elena moved quickly, whipping out her twin daggers as she rushed forward. Although her level was low, she had received an abundant amount of training from her father, who was a strong warrior. With practiced motions, she stabbed her swords into the openings in the carapace of the millipedes that had been carved open with Kaladin’s attacks.

[Level 76 Ghost Millipede killed. You have leveled up!]

[Level 54 Ghost Millipede killed. You have leveled up!]

[Level 64 Ghost Millipede killed. You have leveled up!]

[Level 67 Ghost Millipede killed. You have leveled up!]

Only four of the Ghost Millipedes had survived the onslaught of Leon’s Undead Millipede, but each of them had yielded Elena a level. She was shocked, but she realized that she needed to kill the larger millipedes quickly, before they succumbed to their wounds.

[Level 62 Ghost Millipede Soldier killed. You have leveled up!]

[Level 73 Ghost Millipede Soldier killed. You have leveled up!]

[You have leveled up!]

[You have leveled up!]

Elena was stunned as she was spammed by level up notifications. She had known that Leon and his minions were strong, but she had not expected that the creatures that his mage follower had almost one-shotted would be a whole tier above the smaller ones! She had thought that they would only be a little stronger at best, but now she was reaping the benefits when she did not even do much!

“Let’s keep going. If we move fast enough, we can reach out goal before long.” Leon urged and kept on moving forward. He send his Undead Millipedes ahead so they could do battle against any Ghost Millipede they saw. With their strengths and numbers, they were even able to fight against a Ghost Millipede Soldier, so Leon did not fear for them getting wiped out!

Ten minutes into their run, a couple of the Undead Millipedes had already reached max level, while the others were close. Even Kaladin and Nedra were in their nineties.

,m “What level are you now, Elena?” Leon asked.

“Um, hold on, let me check.” Elena said and pulled up her status.

“Level 57. I just need 43 more levels to max out.” She quickly replied with glee. Her leveling speed was so fast with Leon’s help!

“Good.” Leon nodded, “Let’s keep going.” He said. This time, they moved much faster, and he allowed his summons to kill a lot more creatures. If they maxed out their levels, then they would leave it all for Elena. After she was done, he would also get to work with leveling up.
