Chapter 191 Trouble On The Horizon
“Purge it quickly!” A humanoid figure said quickly and raised his hands. A bright, white-gold light shone from the tips of his fingers, coalescing into a mass of energy that seemed to burn the very air around him.
Beside him, eight other figures made the same gesture. Together, the nine Undead Priests gathered Holy energy into a mass above their heads.
The air of the Desolate Lands twisted and morphed at a level that was nearly unnoticeable to those who were not paying attention. It was like the effect that was generated when heat was gathered in a single point.
“Now!” When the energy had reached a peak, the one who spoke earlier gave the signal. Together, the nine of them unleashed all the gathered energy.
Whoosh!
Boom!
The orb of white-gold energy surged forward like a blob, and slammed into the distant cliff. The energy melted into the wall without doing much physical damage to it, but a massive cloud of dust, along with the rumbling earth, followed the impact of the energy on the rocks.
“Well done.” The one at the front said with his hands on his hips as he watched as the dark rocks regained a bit of color to them. They had been tainted with the Unholy energy that permeated through this land, and the job of himself and his colleagues was to purge the land.
The name of this Undead Priest was Jordan. He was one of the priests that had banded together to kill Leon back in the final boss room of the Tower of Trials.
At first, Jordan had dreaded being turned into an Undead when he was on the verge of death, but there was little he could do at the moment. But now that he was already here, he did not really mind it. This was a form of immortality in a way. As long as Leon lived, so did he.
As Jordan was about to order the others to begin moving to the next cleansing site, he suddenly felt a strange fluctuation in the distance.
‘Strong people!’ Jordan immediately noticed what was wrong. As a Priest, he senses were top tier. Although the foreign presence he had sensed a fleeting, he was still sure that something was off.
Immediately, even before passing an order to the others around him, he instead contacted Leon with the utmost speed and relayed the situation to him.
“Ready up! We need to stop whatever it is that is heading this way.” Jordan told his priestly colleagues and quickly left his position to find a better spot where he get a clear view of the surroundings. Standing on top of a large boulder, Jordan was able to see a bit more around him, but he was unable to spot the fast approaching cloud of black smoke that was sticking close to the ground. It was almost as if it was not there at all.
“What…?” Only a few seconds had passed when Jordan got to the vantage point he was when he felt a sharp gust of wind. Then he was suddenly flying in the air. His body was breaking up into pieces, utterly devastated from a single strike.
Even thought he had been hit already, for some reason, he still could not spot the person who had hit him.
But he did not fear death, for in the next moment, he felt a surge of mana well in his body, and then he was being remade. The moment he returned to his full power, his senses spread over the surrounding area as quickly as possible, and he regrouped with the other priests. Together, they were more than capable of taking care of themselves, but there were also other battle oriented summons in the surrounding area. They were already on their way.
.
.
Back in the white walled town that Leon had conveniently named White Fort, Leon sat down within a closed chamber within the temple in a meditative position. Only a moment ago, he had been deep in meditation when he suddenly got an alert from one of his more recent summons, Jordan, a priest.
Jordan had alerted him to someone attacking them, and he had immediately responded when he felt Jordan die only moments after he had alerted Leon.
‘There should be no strong people there. Except for… Demons.’ Leon grinned and stood up from the mat on the floor. He stretched, feeling his joints pop satisfyingly, before donning his black robes and leaving the room.
Immediately, he began rallying his elite summons that were spread around the town doing various things. Nero was sparring with the human warriors, while Kaladin was exchanging pointers with the mages. Nedra was off doting on the White Millipedes, while the others were also off doing their own things. Leon had let them roam free so that they could work on their skills before they were ready to embark on Michael’s missions. The moment they received his summons, they dropped everything and appeared by his side.
“Master.” The chorus of greetings rang out along Leon as he walked.
“Everyone, I hope you are ready for some excitement. There is trouble on the horizon.” Leon told them as he walked to the town’s gates.
“We are ready!” Nero spoke for them all as he clenched his fist. The air around him grew hazy as his violent mana ripped through it.
“Good, we will leave immediately.” Leon nodded and paused.
