Chapter 163 Delayed Wish
“Just you left.”
Leon heard those words, but he still had no idea what to ask. If he asked for something as simple as making himself stronger, then he felt as if he would not be able to utilize the full potential of this wish. Money? Fame? He did not need any more of those.
Slowly, he floated forward until he arrived in front of the three mighty Gods. But before he could open his mouth to speak, Michael waved his hand.
“You have still yet to decide on what you want to wish for. I will handle your case separately. Go back for now.” He said, and in the blink of an eye, Leon found himself back with the other chosen ones. All of them stared at him with shocked expressions on their faces.
“Now!” Before anyone could pose any questions to him, a loud voice drew their attentions. The three Gods had gotten up once again and Michael was speaking. “We shall send you back, but only after we watch the highlights of your battles that impressed us.” He snapped his fingers, and a large screen appeared in the air.
At the same time, a similar screen appeared in the air over anyone who was paying attention to the finishing moments of Divinity’s Bout. The screens then began showing the highlights of the fights and different scenes of the chosen ones.
A huge amount of people were focused on these scenes, and a good portion of them were even more focused on the possible appearance of a certain Undead. However, none of the scenes of Leon fighting were brought up. Only the other chosen ones were shown to the masses, which generated a fair bit of confusion.
“That Undead performed really well in the battles. Why is he not one of the chosen ones?”
“Especially against the boss of the fiftieth floor!”
“These other chosen ones don’t look so special to me…”
“Look, it’s the guy who fought alongside the Undead. If he’s there, then why is the Undead not there too?”
A lot of confusion was generated amongst the masses, but there was nothing they could do. The Gods had chosen the best, and they could not alter anything.
The clips of the highlights were quickly shown to all before the screen vanished. The attention of the chosen ones then turned back to the Gods.
“An additional reward. Congratulations, and keep striving to reach the top.” Michael snapped his fingers again and small rings appeared before each of the chosen ones. These rings were special rings that had a spatial property. There was a large amount of internal space within these rings, created through high level Space magic.
Ordinary spatial rings that had an internal space of about two meters by two meters at best were already very valuable and enough to have nobles and other influential and wealthy people running mad with excitement. The ones provided by Gods could only be much better!
After the chosen participants had accepted the rings, white light suddenly flashed around them, and they were teleported back to the places they belonged.
When Leon opened his eyes after the teleportation had been completed, he found a group of people staring at him with incredulous looks on their faces.
“You are a chosen one.” Curtis stated without a hint of doubt in his tone.
“Yes.” Leon nodded. It was not a secret.
“But you did not show up in the highlights just now.” Curtis was confused.
“Don’t know why.” Leon shrugged. He himself did not know why, but he was happy nonetheless. At least, it would mean that no one would immediately find out of his identity. Perhaps later on, those who were also chosen would figure it out, but for now, it meant no one would be able to piece together his identity just yet.
Curtis remained silent and decided not to pursue the matter further. It was doubtful that Leon would even be remotely behind the reason for himself not appearing. How could he interfere in the workings of a God?
“Anyway, I’m tired. I haven’t had a proper rest since Divinity’s Bout started. I’m going to get a room.” Leon told the group. Before he could walk off though, Curtis stopped him with another question.
“Hold on, where is Nedra?” He asked. He had not seen Nedra before, and still hadn’t seen her after Leon returned, so he was beginning to fear the worst.
“Here!” With a cheer, the millipede queen took on her human form, appearing as a petite girl. A wide grin was on her face as she appeared.
“Ho! How did you do that?!” Curtis nearly jumped away. He had not been expecting her to pop out of nowhere.
“Secret.” She held a finger to her lips and winked at the poor boy. Curtis’ face went red and he took a couple more steps away from Nedra.
“Alright, bye. You guys have fun.” Leon turned away and waved at them, leaving Nedra to entertain them. He walked up to the caretaker of the inn who had come out as the place was getting busy, then quickly paid for a room and got a key.
He walked up the stairs to his room, brushing by a good number of people. The corridor was bustling, and many people were coming into the tavern to drink and have a good time. A good number of the people present in Fort Bender were participants of Divinity’s Bout, and a decent number of them had come back with their pockets laden with riches, so now, it was time to celebrate!
Leon made his way to his room, and when he stepped in, he looked out of the window. It was night time, and the moon shone brightly through the spaces in the shutters. He quickly opened up the window and a wave of cool air hit him in the face. With the cool air flowing through the room, he laid down to get some much needed shut eye in order to rest his mind.
But alas, it seemed rest was not for him.
BOOOM!
