389 Unveiling The New Age Weapon Platform
“The princess is acting quite fishy. She’s been very secretive about the various projects that they are working on. As if she wants to surprise you.” Jet nudged Leon as the two of them walked through the underground city that the rebels had built after decades of consistent hard work.
“I noticed it too.” Leon shrugged as he walked with his hands folded behind him. He had finished meditating for the moment and wanted to take a relaxing walk through the stone streets of Duskbloom.
A couple of weeks had passed since they arrived in Duskbloom Base. He had maintained contact with the outside world through his summons and connections with Rakon and others. Through them, he was able to get periodic reports on the situation outside.
While he was kept appraised of everything by Vera and the others, he wanted an unbiased and unfiltered source of information, which he was able to get through his own means.
So far, Leon was happy with everything that was going on in Fort White. With the war having come to an end, the speedy growth of many of his underlings, as well as the Demon boys that had defected to his side, and Elena, had slowed down to an extent, but not too much.
The reason why they were able to keep up a more consistent growth rate was because of Leon’s ownership of dungeons.
Although his dungeon had basically turned into A rank dungeons, it was not too much of a hassle to take control of the low ranked, low intelligence monsters and have them turn into fodder for the new C ranks to farm and get experience.
It was a brutal way to treat the minions that would fight for him in battle, but that was why he chose to use the ones with little intelligence. They would be nothing more than cannon fodder either way. It would be best to turn them into experience for his side than others’.
Concerning the matter of dungeons, when Leon had been in the Gublin Empire, he had hammered out a deal with Leonidas concerning the return of the Despair Dungeon to the empire. He had gained several special rights and privileges concerning the access to the dungeon, as well as a yearly payment for the next fifty years, that was worth a good portion of what the Gublin Empire earned from the dungeon on a yearly basis. The payment could be made in gold, gems, or other valuable resources. As long as it represented the appropriate value.
“Leon!” Leon paused as he heard the familiar voice of none other than Princess Vera Henisie.
A week had already passed since their arrival in Duskbloom, and over the course of that week, the two had gotten to the first name basis without the use of honorifics. Leon was a casual person by nature, so he had quickly gotten tired of the honorifics that the princess attached to his name. The princess had also told him to call her by her name if that was the case, and he had agreed.
“Vera.” Leon smiled as the princess approached the two of them. “What do you need me for?” 𝒩𝒪𝑣𝐿xt.𝗇t
“Ah, it was just a stroke of luck that I managed to catch you here. It’s finally time to show you what we have been working on!” Vera said excitedly. The way she spoke made the woman who was over seventy seem like a little girl.
“Come with me.” She said and turned to leave. Leon and Jet exchanged a curious look before following after her.
They soon left the busy streets of the underground hideout and began walking through one of the more narrow spaces.
“What exactly are you going to show us? We’ve been waiting to know this for a week now, a little sneak peek would be nice.” Jet probed.
“I’m sorry, but I can’t tell you much. Just know that it will shock you so much that you won’t be able to recover for a while. All I can say is that this might very well be the new way to fight wars after it is introduced!” Vera thought for a moment before saying.
“Hmm, fine then. We’ll wait to see this new weapon with our own eyes.” Leon hummed.
With that decided on, they followed until they reached the same passage that Vera, Mordred and Mirabel had gone through when they were introducing the airship to Vera. The door was unlocked by the guards, and soon, the cool, fresh wind of the dimension where the airship was constructed blew against their faces.
“Whoa, what the hell is this? A sky under the ground? Did we teleport?” Leon asked as he felt a subtle and barely noticeable change in the space around him.
“No, it’s a separate space entirely! This is a whole other dimension, just like the ones that summoners use to contract other worldly creatures!” Jet had read a lot of books from the library that belonged to his family, and so he possessed the proper knowledge to know what exactly this space that they had stepped into was.
“Wow, this is the first time I am coming into contact with something like this. I have a few summoners in my Undead Army, but I’ve never thought of setting foot into the dimensions that they contracted.” Leon said with wide eyes as he looked around.
As he was looking, he suddenly paused, as if he had been doused by a bucket of cold water and it was strong enough to affect him.
“I take it you have finally spotted the pride of us rebels. Feast your eyes upon the first of its kind, the first proper airship to grace this world, the Blood Breaker!” Vera walked to the front and spread her arms out, showcasing the majestic airship that had been painted in a coat of white and red with golden lines around it. “This will be the greatest weapon platform and will set the mark that begins the new age!”
The cliff that the dimensional door opened up to just happened to set them up on a good enough vantage point that they could witness as it hovered right in front of them.
