Chapter 92: The Legends Who Still Lived
Rin had made his decision on impulse.
At first, it had simply been an emotional reaction. After hearing Kaan’s story, however, he couldn’t stop thinking about it.
The more he thought about what had happened to those children—those Divine Knights—the more disgusted he became.
How could a god do something like this? How could someone who was supposed to be worshipped and trusted by countless people turn against those very same people?
Rin looked at Kaan, his expression becoming serious.
"Kaan, can you tell us more about this god?"
Kaan hesitated.
"Who is he? What kind of powers does he possess? And, most importantly..."
Rin’s voice became quieter.
"Why did he torture you for so long?"
Kaan fell silent. For several moments, he simply stared at the ground.
Then he looked toward his friends. The other children were gathered around the fire, listening.
Kaan took a deep breath. And he began to tell the story.
For more than an hour, Rin listened.
He listened to every detail. The rise of the Divine Knights. The fall of their commander. The arrival of the god. The experiments. The endless years of suffering.
The transformations that had changed their bodies. The curse that prevented them from leaving.
And the strange power that had bound their souls to this place. By the time Kaan finished speaking, Rin remained completely silent.
He had entered this world believing that everything around him was part of a story.
A novel. A world written on pages. But now, sitting in front of these children, Rin could no longer think of them that way.
They weren’t characters. They were people. People who had suffered for hundreds of years. And all Rin could feel was disgust.
Kaelith, however, seemed much calmer.
"I believe the story is slightly different from what you have been told," he said.
Kaan immediately turned toward him.
"In what way, Master?"
Kaelith’s crimson eyes narrowed slightly.
"Lucien."
Everyone became silent.
"Lucien was blessed by the God of Life and three other gods."
Kaan’s eyes widened. Kaelith continued calmly.
"That means that, at this moment, he is a demigod."
Rin immediately looked at him.
"What does that mean?"
Kaelith turned toward Rin.
"Unlike us, Lucien became immortal because he was loved by the gods."
He paused.
"Which means... He is still alive."
Silence. Kaan stared at Kaelith.
The answer completely contradicted everything he had believed for the past thousand years.
If Lucien was truly immortal because of divine blessings... Then the commander they had believed was dead might still be somewhere in this world.
Kaan swallowed. There was another thing that bothered him.
How did this incredibly jealous and possessive man know so many details about Commander Lucien?
Kaan hesitated before speaking.
"Master, if you don’t mind... Could you please tell me your name?"
The moment those words left his mouth, panic appeared on Rin’s face.
Oh no.
According to the history of this world, Kaelith was the one who had killed Lucien. And Kaelith himself had admitted that he had killed Lucien several times.
Rin opened his mouth. But before he could say anything—
Kaelith answered first.
"My name is Kaelith."
His tone was completely indifferent.
"I am the King of Demons."
Kaan froze.
"And I am an old friend of that hopeless romantic named Lucien."
Kaelith gestured slightly toward the empty space beside them.
"The one whose voice you keep hearing but cannot see is Sol, the God of Air. And he is also an old friend of Lucien."
Kaan’s expression became completely blank. For several seconds, he didn’t move. Then his face slowly turned pale.
The King of Demons...?
This man was the legendary ruler of Hell? The same demon king who had destroyed nations? The one who had devastated countless cities?
The one who, according to the legends, had killed Commander Lucien?
Impossible.
Kaan stared at him.
"Master..."
His voice trembled.
"I don’t think you should joke about something like that..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Sol interrupted.
"He isn’t joking."
A laugh came from somewhere nearby.
"He really is Kaelith. Hahaha!"
Kaan’s eyes widened even further. Behind him, five of the children immediately fainted from shock.
The remaining children were terrified. As for Kaan...
He seriously began wondering whether he had finally gone insane. Maybe he had suffered so much that his mind had finally broken.
Maybe he was imagining everything. Because there was absolutely no way that the legendary King of Demons was standing in front of him. And the legendary God of Air was casually talking beside him.
Kaan looked around desperately. Nothing. No one. Only Kaelith.
Rin looked at the scene and remained silent.
I knew this was going to happen.
He sighed internally. Then he turned toward Kaelith.
"Is something wrong, wife?"
Kaelith asked the question as though the entire scene around them was completely normal. Rin stared at him.
"No..."
His voice sounded exhausted.
"Everything is wonderful."
Kaelith nodded.
"Good."
Then Rin looked back toward Kaan.
"Now that we know the story, shouldn’t we start looking for Lucien?"
Kaan didn’t answer. Rin frowned.
"Kaan?"
Still nothing.
"Kaan, do you have any idea where he could be?"
Kaan wasn’t mentally present anymore. His mind was still struggling to process everything he had just heard.
He had read stories about the God of Air and Kaelith. According to those stories, Kaelith and Sol, together with the God of the Moon, Noctis, had once attacked the heavens.
They had fought against countless gods. And Kaelith had once fought side by side with Commander Lucien.
If everything he had just heard was true... Then Kaan was standing in front of two living legends.
His eyes began to sparkle. The fear slowly disappeared. It was replaced by something completely different.
Curiosity. Excitement. Almost like that of an obsessed fan meeting his favorite heroes.
He had so many questions. Too many questions. But there was one thing he wanted to know more than anything else.
Kaan looked toward Rin.
"Master..."
His voice was filled with admiration.
"If your brother is the God of Air... And your husband is the King of Demons..."
He paused.
"Then that means you must also have an incredibly important position, right?"
Rin stared at him.
Please don’t look at me with those hopeful eyes.
He sighed.
"I’m sorry."
Rin pointed toward himself.
"But I’m human. That’s all."
Kaan blinked.
"What?"
"Exactly."
Rin turned the conversation back toward the important matter.
"Now, can you tell us where Lucien might be? Or where this Fallen God could be?"
Kaan finally forced himself to concentrate. He thought for several moments.
Then an old memory suddenly appeared in his mind. The commander’s castle.
"I think..."
Kaan’s voice became more certain.
"He should be in the castle."
Rin’s eyes narrowed.
"The castle?"
"Yes."
Kaan nodded.
"I remember that place. That was where we fought for the last time..."
He looked toward the others.
"We were taken there before everything happened."
Rin slowly turned toward Kaelith. Kaelith remained silent. From somewhere nearby, Sol’s laughter could be heard.
Rin sighed.
"So..."
He stood up.
"It’s settled."
His expression became determined.
"It’s time to go to the castle."
Kaan looked at him.
"The castle?"
Rin nodded.
"We’ll find Lucien. And we’ll find out exactly what happened."
Kaelith’s crimson eyes gleamed.
"If that is what my wife wishes... Then we shall go."
Sol laughed.
"Well, this should be interesting."
Rin looked between the two of them. Somehow, he already had a bad feeling about this.
But there was no turning back now. The fate of Kieve had already begun to move.
And none of them knew what awaited them inside Lucien’s old castle.
Meanwhile...
Far away from the tunnels beneath Kieve, inside a magnificent castle decorated with gold, a completely different scene was taking place.
The walls were covered in luxurious decorations.
Golden ornaments reflected the warm light of countless lamps. Beautiful women moved throughout the enormous hall, attending to the man seated comfortably in the center.
The man himself looked remarkably handsome. He looked like a painting, his golden eyes made you melt with pleasure, but it seems that this Falled god loved wealth more than anything else, and besides gold, he also loved women.
He lounged comfortably while one of the women offered him grapes. The woman looked at him shyly, and the god scrutinized her from head to toe, she was just his type.
He accepted them without much thought, his attention wandering around the room.
He had no idea what was coming. He had no idea that someone was already on his trail. And he certainly had no idea that three people were coming toward his castle.
For the moment, he simply continued enjoying his luxurious life, wondering which woman he would choose to accompany him that night in bed. Every night, there was a different girl; he never slept with the same woman twice. The reason was simple. I think no one deserves to be chosen twice in a row, but now he was completely unaware...
That the legends he thought belonged to the distant past were already coming for him.
