Chapter 82: The BL system is Back

Everything Rin had discovered so far came down to one terrifying conclusion:

He was inside the world of his favorite novel. And the obsessive man staring at him as if he were the most precious treasure in existence was Kaelith—the main character of the book.

The plot of Betrayal had been simple at first.

Kaelith had lost the person he loved. Again. And again. And again. Every time fate separated them, Kaelith became a little more broken.

Eventually, his soul and mind had been shattered beyond recognition. He went insane.

And the once-beloved character Rin had admired from behind his computer screen became a terrifying killing machine.

If you spoke too loudly in his presence, you could be punished. If you crossed his path, you could become a target. If you dared to challenge him, the consequences could be devastating.

A war could begin simply because someone had made the wrong decision. An entire kingdom could be destroyed.

Yes... This was the Demon King.

Kaelith.

And this lunatic whom Rin had once admired from the other side of a computer monitor was now kneeling in front of him, looking at him as though he were a priceless gem.

Rin stared at him for several seconds. Then he sighed.

"So... tell me. How long are you planning to keep me here?"

Kaelith tilted his head.

"What do you mean, wife?"

Wife. There it was again. Wife this. Wife that.

Rin’s eye twitched.

"Look, I’m a man. And whatever happened between us last night wasn’t completely my choice."

His expression became colder.

"Besides, I don’t know you. You dragged me here from another world, brought me here against my will, didn’t explain anything, and now you’re taking away my freedom completely."

He stared directly at Kaelith.

"What normal person would be happy about that?"

Rin continued speaking with the expression of someone who had been deeply wronged. He even managed to make himself look like a wounded maiden.

At least, that was what he was trying to do. Kaelith simply watched him.

And somehow, Rin immediately felt the atmosphere becoming more dangerous.

"Forced?"

Kaelith’s voice suddenly became colder.

"An explanation?"

He slowly moved closer.

"A man?"

His crimson eyes narrowed.

"Why should I care about any of those things?"

Rin’s heart skipped. Kaelith leaned closer to him.

"You belong to me."

His voice was quiet.

"That is the only explanation you need."

Rin stared at him.

"And besides, you weren’t forced."

Kaelith’s expression changed slightly.

"Your soul answered my summons."

He reached toward Rin.

"That means that, somewhere deep inside your soul, you love me."

Rin’s expression went blank.

What is this lunatic talking about?

Love him?

The thought immediately reminded him of a conversation he’d had with Ji Huo.

He could almost hear his coworker’s voice again.

You must have really liked the main character if you cried that much.

And Rin’s own answer came back to him.

Liked him...? I think I loved him.

Rin had said those words while his eyes were still swollen from crying.

His expression slowly changed.

Wait.

Are you saying my soul answered Kaelith’s summons because of that?

There is no way. I wasn’t talking about that kind of love!

Rin looked away.

But Kaelith noticed immediately.

"Wife."

His voice became suspicious.

"Are you thinking about another man again while I’m standing right here?"

Rin looked back.

"Again?"

Kaelith’s hand suddenly caught Rin’s face.

"Do you really enjoy upsetting me this much?"

"Let me go!"

Rin struggled against his grip.

"We need to talk!"

Kaelith’s expression darkened.

"I believe I already told you that I don’t accept betrayal."

He leaned close enough that Rin could feel his presence.

"Even if you merely think about someone else..."

His crimson eyes became frighteningly intense.

"I consider that betrayal."

Rin’s heart sank.

This guy really is insane.

Kaelith smiled.

"So it seems I have no choice."

He leaned closer.

"I’ll simply have to fill your thoughts with me."

His smile became unsettling.

"Then you won’t have any room left to think about anyone else."

Rin’s expression turned cold.

"If you come any closer, I swear I’ll never forgive you."

Kaelith stopped. For the first time, something changed in his eyes. Pain.

It was there for only a moment, but Rin saw it.

"You won’t forgive me?"

Kaelith whispered.

"I’ve already done enough things you won’t forgive."

His eyes lowered. There was genuine sadness hidden beneath his madness.

"But that’s all right."

He looked back at Rin.

"Because you’re here now."

A faint smile returned to his face.

"You’re mine."

His voice became almost painfully quiet.

"So I don’t need your forgiveness."

Another day passed. Rin eventually woke again.

Kaelith was sleeping beside him. Finally. The Demon King had actually fallen asleep.

Rin carefully turned his head and stared at him.

How am I supposed to escape from here? How am I supposed to get information?

Even if Rin somehow managed to leave this room, the demons outside would probably kill him before he made it anywhere.

There was absolutely nothing in his favor. He was trapped in the world of Betrayal.

He was surrounded by demons. The final villain had decided that Rin belonged to him.

And apparently, Rin’s own soul had answered the man’s summons.

This is hopeless.

Then—

[Welcome, Host. Welcome.]

Rin froze. That voice. He had heard it faintly on his first night here.

His eyes widened.

Who are you?

[Host, I am the BL System. I am your faithful assistance system.]

Rin blinked.

Faithful assistance?

BL System?

His expression became strange.

So, in the end, this book really was about a BL relationship...

[Correct, Host.]

Rin stared into the empty air.

I can’t believe this.

The system continued.

[Your primary mission has been activated.]

"What?"

Rin’s voice was barely above a whisper.

[Host, discover the truth once again and return Kaelith to his normal state.]

Rin’s eyes widened.

The truth?

"What are you talking about?"

He whispered the question. But before the system could respond, another voice came from behind him.

"You’re talking to another man again."

Rin’s entire body froze. A cold hand grabbed him and pulled him back against the pillow.

Kaelith was already above him. His crimson eyes stared directly into Rin’s. Rin’s heart nearly stopped.

Fuck. He heard me.

Kaelith lowered his voice.

"Wife..."

It was almost a whisper.

"Is it really so difficult for you to listen to me?"

He rested his head against Rin’s shoulder.

"Really..."

For a moment, everything was silent. Then Kaelith suddenly shouted.

"DO YOU HAVE TO SEDUCE EVERYONE?!"

His crimson eyes glowed with a dangerous red light.

Rin’s entire body went stiff.

"No..."

His voice trembled.

"It’s not what it looks like."

Inside his mind, Rin was screaming.

System!

SYSTEM!

The system responded calmly.

[Host, return Kaelith to his normal state.]

Rin’s eyes widened.

[Secondary Mission: Reduce Kaelith’s hatred.]

Rin stared at Kaelith.

[Reward: Permission to leave this room.]

Rin’s mouth twitched.

Reduce his hatred...

He looked at Kaelith’s glowing red eyes.

Wait.

Normally, when a character’s red eyes glow in the darkness... That means imminent danger, right?

System... You’re not sending me to my death, are you?

There was a brief pause. Then the system answered.

[Absolutely not, Host.]

Rin’s eye twitched.

That isn’t reassuring!

Kaelith was still staring at him. His expression had become almost childlike in its confusion, despite the terrifying aura surrounding him.

"Why do you keep doing this?"

His voice was quieter now.

"Tell me, wife..."

Kaelith looked genuinely lost.

"How can I make you mine for eternity?"

Rin stared at him. Kaelith continued.

"What else do I have to do?"

There was something broken in his voice. Something that didn’t belong to a cruel Demon King.

For just a moment, Rin didn’t see the terrifying character from Betrayal. He saw someone who had lost the person he loved so many times that he no longer knew how to love without fearing another loss.

Someone whose desperation had turned into obsession. Someone who had forgotten where love ended and possession began.

Rin swallowed.

The system told me to return him to normal.

But how am I supposed to do that?

He looked at Kaelith. The Demon King was waiting for his answer.

Rin’s mind was racing.

I need information. I need to understand this world.

I need to figure out what happened to the real Kaelith. I need to find a way out.

And most importantly—

I need to survive.

Rin slowly took a breath.

He had absolutely no idea what he was doing. But apparently, his first mission was to calm down the most dangerous character in the entire novel.

The same character who had destroyed kingdoms. The same character who had lost his beloved countless times. The same character who had become known as the Demon King of Calamity.

And now that man was looking at Rin as though Rin alone could determine whether his world continued to exist.

Rin stared into those crimson eyes.

Then he thought:
