It’s infuriating that Liu Daqing gave her so much face, with all the exaggerated praises and joys along the way — as if this daughter-in-law brings great honor.

Zhang Chuchu fumed: Is there really something so worthy of pride?

There are so many ladies from prominent families, yet your family chose to marry a penniless woman and feel so proud about it. Isn’t this all pretentious?

Always bragging about South Country University, is South Country University going to feed you?

However, no matter how angry or heartbroken Zhang Chuchu was, she completely broke down upon hearing these words.

“The bride is actually a graduate of the prestigious South Country University… In our circle, there are many famous school graduates, but none are from South Country University… The few before this were already quite old…”

Zhang Chuchu turned and left in anger.

No one knew she was ever here until she had gone far away.

The wedding banquet was very simple.

But the dishes were exquisite, not sloppy at all, completely tailored to the guests’ interests and tastes, truly thoughtful.

Knowing Yan Xixi was already pregnant with Wan Donglin’s firstborn, which is significant, the relatives and old friends were discreet enough not to push for drinking and revelry.

The couple politely toasted everyone around.

Gradually, the banquet came to an end and people dispersed.

As the sunset, the bougainvillea at the corner bloomed profusely, overshadowing the surrounding grape trellis.

It was harvest season, and the grapevines intertwined, with clusters full of fruits hanging heavy on the branches.

Yan Xixi sat under the tree cooling off, lying comfortably on a lounge chair. After all, with a child on the way, and having been busy all day, she felt much more relaxed lying down.

Wan Donglin’s siblings and Liu Daqing were busy seeing off the guests, while she took some spare time in the midst of the bustle.

Thinking to herself, weddings are truly tiring. Despite being so low-key and simple, it was still many times more overwhelming than expected. If it weren’t for Wan Dongmei and Liu Daqing being busy throughout, she wouldn’t be so free.

Feeling dazed, reminiscing about those days when, if not burdened by her mother, she could casually marry someone. What would the wedding be like? Like most couples, hiding away in the room to count red envelopes before the guests leave? Then using the money from the red envelopes to settle the banquet bills?

Someone quietly approached.

But not really silently — it was the sound of high heels, very crisp, and judging by the sound, the visitor’s posture must be incredibly graceful.

She slowly opened her eyes.

Opposite her, standing in the sunset, was a person.

The woman was dressed elegantly, in an evening gown, holding a top-tier luxury bag, adorned with expensive jewelry… dressed as though attending an Oscars ceremony.

The woman stood afar, observing her with a critical gaze, from head to toe, and then from toe to head.

Yan Xixi had changed into casual clothes, yet still in a very refined skirt, lazily leaning on the lounge chair, black hair, black eyes, her face showing a rosy glow, but the sharpness and vigilance of the past were gone, replaced by unmatched gentleness and smoothness…

The visitor’s sharp gaze fell on her belly, immediately understanding.

Yan Xixi spoke first, smiling: “Hey, Rina. What a surprise.”

Rina smiled charmingly: “The third young master didn’t send me an invitation, yet I came uninvited upon hearing the news. Are you displeased by having an unexpected guest like me?”

Yan Xixi laughed: “Really appreciate you coming all the way…”

Rina approached.

Her walking posture was the result of long-term training, swinging her hips and waist, extremely graceful, even women find it pleasing to watch.

As she drew closer, Yan Xixi gently said: “Please sit.”

She still stood, staring intensely at Yan Xixi: “I want to give you a mysterious gift, would you be interested?”

Yan Xixi lazily asked: “What gift?”

She softly said: “I think this gift is something you definitely need… For example… why Huang Xiaojue asked me to attend your wedding!”
