Chapter 147: I Accept
Chapter 147: I Accept
Sienna picked up her chopsticks and started eating.
The moment the first bite touched her tongue, all of her attention shifted to the food.
She hadn’t realized how hungry she was until now.
The rich flavors instantly captured her attention, and before long, she became completely focused on enjoying the meal. The premium sushi practically melted in her mouth, and every bite seemed even better than the last.
For several minutes, she forgot everything else around her.
Including the man sitting across from her.
Only after she finished the last piece of sushi on her plate did she finally remember that Zachary was still there, watching her with amusement.
Her eyes lifted from the table.
Zachary was eating much more slowly than she was.
He sat comfortably in his chair, looking completely relaxed as he lifted his wine glass and took a small sip. The soft lighting above the dining table cast a warm glow over his features, making him look unfairly attractive.
As though sensing her gaze, he looked directly at her.
"Do you like the sushi?" he asked thoughtfully.
Sienna nodded immediately. "Hmm, this is delicious."
The answer seemed to satisfy him. For a brief second, a faint smile curved his lips.
"Do you want some more?" Zachary asked as he reached into his suit jacket and pulled out his phone. "I can ask them to send more right now."
Sienna was stunned by his words. This man could simply make another luxury dinner appear whenever he wanted.
She swiftly shook her head to gently decline the idea.
"Thanks, Zach, I think I’m good. And I’m already full, too."
It wasn’t an excuse. She genuinely couldn’t eat another bite. Between the sushi, wagyu, unagi, and fruit, she felt completely satisfied.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes." She smiled to reassure him.
Zachary stared at her for a moment before placing his phone back into his pocket.
"Alright."
A comfortable silence settled between them as they continued to enjoy their dinner.
The dinner had been surprisingly pleasant. There was no awkwardness, no pressure, and no need to force conversation. The quiet atmosphere felt natural as they finished their food, sipping wine between bites and casually looking at each other, smiling.
Sienna found herself able to relax during dinner. The tension she had been carrying at the beginning of the evening melted away.
When the silence stretched on, and Zachary made no mention of the answer she still owed him, Sienna began to think that perhaps he had forgotten about it. Maybe he had decided not to ask again. Or maybe he was giving her more time.
The possibility made her feel secretly relieved.
She calmly leaned back in her chair, gently swirling her wine glass as she felt more relaxed and at ease.
But just as Sienna began to believe the matter had quietly passed, she realized she had been mistaken.
Suddenly, Zachary’s gentle voice broke the comfortable silence between them.
"Sienna..."
The sound of her name on his lips immediately drew her attention. She slowly lifted her gaze from the wine glass in front of her and looked at him.
"Yes?" she asked softly.
For a brief moment, Zachary remained silent, as though carefully choosing his next words.
"About the answer," he said quietly, never looking away from her. "Do you promise me...?"
Sienna already knew exactly what he meant. "I accept," she said at once.
For a second, neither of them moved.
Then Zachary smiled. It wasn’t his usual calm smile. It was genuine, bright, and happy. The kind of smile she rarely saw from him.
The sight made something inside her melt completely.
Without realizing it, a smile appeared on her own face as well. Happiness spread through her heart so quickly that it almost overwhelmed her. She had never imagined that simply seeing someone else’s happiness could make her feel this emotional.
Then—
Zachary slowly rose from his seat.
Sienna’s eyes followed him automatically. She watched him walk around the table until he stopped directly beside her.
Suddenly, she didn’t know what to do. Her heart was already beating too fast.
She wasn’t even sure whether she should stand up or remain seated.
Instead, she simply looked up at him and waited.
Several seconds passed.
Zachary didn’t speak. He simply looked at her. Then his hand moved under his suit jacket as if he were taking something out.
Sienna’s breath caught.
A second later, he pulled out a small black velvet box.
The moment she recognized it, her entire body froze. Her heart skipped a beat so hard in her chest.
Her fingers immediately intertwined tightly in her lap. The closer reality came to confirming her suspicion, the harder it became for her to breathe normally.
Before she could calm herself, Zachary suddenly lowered himself to one knee.
Instantly, she gently pushed back her chair to face him.
’Oh my God...’ The words echoed inside her mind. ’He was really doing it. He was actually proposing to me! Properly, too.’
Her heartbeat became so loud she could barely hear herself think.
She looked down at him and found his eyes brighter than she had ever seen them. There was confidence there, but also hope. It was the look of a man who wanted only one answer.
"Sienna Adams," Zachary said gently, his voice carrying a warmth that reached straight into her heart. "Will you marry me?"
As he opened the box, a diamond ring caught the soft light above the dining table and sparkled beautifully between them.
For a moment, Sienna couldn’t speak. Her vision blurred as tears gathered in her eyes before she could stop them.
Everything felt unreal.
The romantic dinner.
His patience.
His care.
The way he had looked at her all evening.
The way he was looking at her now.
All of it suddenly became too much for her heart to contain.
Slowly, a tear slipped down her cheek. Then another.
Zachary’s expression softened immediately.
"Sienna," he said with a helpless smile. "You’re supposed to answer me, not cry."
