The corners of Yao Tang’s lips twitched, as more cool air exuded from her body. The grip she had on her cup tightened even further.
Qin Jing glanced over at the cup to see that the ends of the glass had whitened. Any tighter and glass shards would come flying out of her hand.
She inched farther away from her friend.
There was no way she was going to drag her into this!
Even Lin Xin and Fang Hui could tell that this was no joking matter to her. They glanced over at their friend and also followed Qin Jing’s actions. There was no way that they were getting caught in the crossfire.
!!
Yang Nian, noticing this, pursed his lips in confusion.
However, the strange man seemed to think nothing of it as he walked over to Yao Tang. The smile on his face, if possible, widened.
“I wanted to look for you for months, but they wouldn’t let me come! They said something along the lines of how busy you were, but I told them that you obviously missed me, right, Commander Yao?”
His eyes sparkled with obvious joy.
Qin Jing could feel the entire booth becoming even colder than before. Her nerves were calling on her to leave the restaurant, but she resisted.
Meanwhile, Fang Hui was too focused on finding out who this man was. Why did he look so familiar?
However, when the man neared them, he finally remembered.
His eyes widened and excitement bloomed in his chest.
It’s him!
“I can’t believe it!” Fang Hui jumped from his stool. His cheeks were flushed and his fingers seemed to be fidgeting.
Upon seeing his excited look, Qin Jing glanced over at the others, confused.
In the beginning, they had assumed that Fang Hui appeared to be a responsible and serious man. He didn’t appear to be easily shaken by just about anyone.
They didn’t expect him to be completely flustered by the strange man’s presence.
Then who was this?
Qin Jing pursed his lips, with Lin Xinstaring carefully at the stranger. However, no matter how long they looked, they still couldn’t tell who he was.
Yang Nian, however, recognized him almost immediately.
He was the concertmaster of the Yunmei Orchestra!
“Xiao Jing!” Fang Hui gazed at the man in complete amazement. His bottom lip was trembling as his hands lay stiff on his sides.
Xiao Jing wasn’t surprised by the sudden outburst, having experienced this on a daily basis. He simply nodded at the man, indicating for him to lower his voice.
“You know who I am?” he asked casually.
“Of course! The Yunmei Orchestra is amazing! You’ve always been my role model,” he said, nodding rapidly. “I even have your poster up on my wall!”
“You’re also in an orchestra?”
“Yes!”
He had always thought that the Yunmei Orchestra was far above his league. He never thought that he’d be speaking to the concertmaster himself!
Today was his lucky day!
“Then I expect great things from you.” Xiao Jing smiled.
However, when he turned to Yao Tang, resentment flashed in his eyes. “I thought you agreed to not bringing any newcomers in.”
His voice was so low that no one else had heard him.
Yao Tang didn’t say a word.
When the man felt her cool gaze, a chill shot down his spine. Immediately, he quieted down and didn’t say anything more.
One look was enough for him!
Why did she look so angry? It wasn’t as if he had done anything bad. He even brought the thing she had requested all the way from City D. Could he have offended her?
After thinking for a while, he met her cold stare.
“Where’s the Tombstone?”
An indescribable feeling surged through his heart and he hurriedly replied, “It’s in the car. If you want it, I’ll bring it over now.”
He was certain she’d be pleased by this.
Yao Tang crossed her arms over her chest. “Then I want to see it now.”
“Oh.”Xiao Jing was a little surprised before nodding. “Then we can go over now and take a look.”
“Hm.”
