Chapter 188
Chapter 188: Why Did She Get to Have It All?
Qin Jing stuffed the gift into the other piles of boxes. Her face was emotionless as usual. Added by the careless shrug she had just given, it was obvious that she couldn’t care any less for them.
Yao Ran’s frown deepened even further.
Qin Jing turned around to her good friend. A smile brightened her entire face as she pulled Yao Tang into a hug. “Sister Tang, I love your dress. It suits you,” she praised, clasping her hands together.
Everyone turned around to glance at Yao Tang, wanting to see what the eldest daughter of the Qin Family was talking about. At the sight, they also smiled.
The girl was quite a beauty, but upon seeing Qin Jing recognize it herself, everyone could see just how close they were.
Yao Tang simply smiled in reply.
Yao Ran, who was standing beside her, couldn’t help but frown in irritation. Why did she have to be in the spotlight all the time? Her gaze shifted to the box sitting on the table and then back to Yao Tang.
No one was paying attention to her! All of their eyes were on that bitch — with so much adoration and admiration hidden in their state. What had once been for her was now for Yao Tang. She clenched her fists.
Why?
The young woman grabbed the edges of her skirt, feeling an overwhelming sense of loss from the sudden shift.
Qin Man frowned as well.
“Sister Tang!” Qin Jing glanced at the box in Yao Tang’s hand. “You’ve prepared a gift!”
The bag was quite large.
No one could tell what was inside.
“Happy birthday,” Yao Tang said softly, handing the bag to her friend. Cheng Yan, who was standing beside her, smiled at the birthday celebrant. In close proximity were Meng Yangand Lin Xin, clapping their hands together.
Warmth surged through Qin Jing as she accepted the bag. Who’d have thought that celebrating with friends would feel this great? “Thank you,” she responded.
Madame Qin, who was standing at the back, nodded in greeting at Yao Tang.
Qin Rui didn’t bother nearing the crowding people. Instead, he leaned against one of the pillars, staring at the scene transpiring before him. He didn’t expect that Cheng Yanwould attend the birthday party. It seemed that the heir of the Cheng Familytruly had a lot of spare time in his hands when it came to the young woman standing right beside him.
“You’re amazing, Sister Tang!”
Qin Jing clutched the gift bag to her chest. Whatever was inside, she knew for a fact that it must have been perfectly curated by her best friend. And that was enough.
After all, it was the thought that counted!
These things couldn’t be measured by money or any other monetary value. Hell, it could’ve been a pile of stones, and she still would’ve hugged the hell out of her.
When Yao Ran saw the bright smile that crossed the heiress’s features, she couldn’t help but furrow her eyebrows. The tips of her nails dug into her flesh, drawing blood.
She couldn’t understand why.
Why didn’t Qin Jing look twice at the gifts that she and her mother had prepared for her? Why did Yao Tang’s gift deserve such a reaction from her?
Why the hell was Meng Yang so fond of this country bumpkin?
And how did she get that Diamond Card from Tian Run Mall?
None of this made sense! Hell, she shouldn’t have been able to afford any of them. They were all supposed to be hers! Hers! Why did Yao Tang get to have it all?
As the thoughts rushed into her mind, Yao Ran gritted her teeth. Her eyes were tinged with red as she regarded the young woman before her.
Despite the green-eyed monster brewing in her heart, she forcefully plastered a smile onto her face as she walked forward. “Jingjing, Sister Tang must’ve given you an exquisite gift for you to react that way,” she insisted. “Why don’t you open it now and let us see what she’s given you?”
Her bright voice echoed across the room.
The smile on Qin Jing’s face dropped. It was obvious that Yao Ran wanted to stir even more trouble for Sister Tang. The grip she had on the bag tightened even further.
This girl really had the balls to do such a thing at her party!
Despite this, everyone seemed to follow the same thought process as they edged even closer to the celebrant. “Yeah, let us see what she’s given you!”
“I wonder what Miss Yao Tang had given you!”
“Yes, I want to see it too!”
“Come on, Miss Qin Jing, don’t be stingy.”
The more people spoke out, the more curious they became. After all, they also wanted to know what had made the Qin heiress so happy.
