The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 1311 - 1251: Am I Dreaming
Sienna Johnson stared at the man in front of her, dazed for a while before she stopped doubting and confirmed that she was not dreaming. It was Adrian Desmond, truly Adrian, this was not a dream.
Adrian had come to rescue her, just like she had always hoped.
"Adrian." She choked out his name, tears falling.
"Why are you crying again?"
"You bastard, why did you take so long to rescue me?" Sienna hit him, venting all the fear, confusion, and anxiety she had been feeling.
"I’m sorry for being late." Adrian pulled this woman into his embrace, thinking if he had been even a moment later yesterday, she might have died.
He would have been holding not this soft, warm body, but a cold corpse, and he shuddered at the thought.
Adrian couldn’t imagine his life without Sienna Johnson.
"Adrian, I’m scared..."
"..."
Sienna cried to Adrian, "That Night Owl bastard locked me in the cemetery... I was so scared... I was always hoping you’d come to rescue me, but you never appeared..."
"I swear, I’ll never lose you again."
Yet Sienna kept crying, and Adrian couldn’t soothe her, "Why are you like your mom?"
"I am like my mom, so what?" Sienna said unreasonably.
"Alright, alright, you’re like your mom, I love it too."
Adrian wiped her tears, but they were not cleaned away; instead, his hands were wet with her tears. She had lost a lot of weight lately and looked quite haggard, like a flower lacking nourishment, a sight that pained Adrian deeply.
"Both arms and legs are injured, aren’t you smart? Why did you make yourself so miserable?" Adrian was both heartbroken and angry.
Sienna hit him again; Adrian didn’t dodge at all. There weren’t any outsiders here, getting beaten by his wife wasn’t embarrassing where no one could see.
"Stop hitting, your arm is injured; it doesn’t hurt me when you hit twice, but your arm should be hurting."
"Isn’t it because of you? If not for you, would I be like this..."
"..."
"You’re useless, you can’t even protect your own woman."
This sentence struck Adrian’s heart; he suddenly fell silent. Sienna had hit him for quite a while, seeing no reaction from him, she raised her eyes to meet Adrian’s gloomy face.
She stopped hitting.
"Why did you stop?" Adrian asked, he wasn’t angry with her.
Someone once said that only with the closest people do you dare to vent your emotions without any care because you know no matter how unreasonable you are, the other person won’t abandon you.
"Go ahead and hit, anyway, no one sees." Adrian said kindly.
Sienna wrapped her arms around Adrian’s neck, speaking with lingering fear, "I thought I would never see you again, I thought I would never see the children again..."
"But aren’t you seeing us now?"
"..."
"Alright, stop crying; your eyes are all swollen."
Sienna pushed Adrian down, straddling him, Adrian laughed, "Missed a man."
"Missed you."
Adrian’s hand placed on her back, with a turn, the two shifted positions, Sienna was held in his embrace, not hurt at all.
"Now you’re hurt, better to rest and recuperate."
Sienna: ...
Adrian was always passionate about matters in bed. They had been separated for so long, yet Adrian restrained himself. Sienna naturally wouldn’t think this man had lost interest in her; he only loved her, so he cared for her, so he controlled himself.
Sienna hugged his neck, wholeheartedly trusting this man.
"I grilled fish, come and eat."
"I’m injured, can’t eat seafood." Sienna replied.
"What then?"
By the sea, the most plentiful food was various fish and shrimp, if she couldn’t eat them, what could she eat?
"Where are we now?"
"On an island where I used to stash money."
Sienna asked, "The island shrouded in mist."
"Mm."
"I also thought of coming to this island for a temporary hiding place, didn’t expect you to bring me here."
"This shows our minds are in sync."
Adrian picked up a fruit wrapped in leaves and handed it to Sienna, "Can’t eat fish, have some fruit."
Sienna took it, seeing the fruit had been washed, leaned against Adrian, and started eating.
"How did you find me?" After crying a lot, Sienna’s heart felt much better.
Having someone to be vulnerable with felt so good.
Sienna turned her head to glance at Adrian, noticing this man was also slimmer. She had been kidnapped by Night Owl; this man hadn’t had it easy either.
"I went to the Imperial Mausoleum, but you had already been taken by Night Owl, then I went to the dock, tracking the yacht Night Owl had taken, and silently followed along."
Sienna asked in surprise, "You followed us? But why didn’t I see any boats?"
"I was underwater."
"..."
"I originally planned to sneak onto the yacht and secretly take you away, but you were hurt, so I didn’t dare act rashly. Who knew you’d jump into the sea yourself."
"..."
"Did your brain get waterlogged? Why on earth would you jump into the sea?"
Sienna explained, "I met a fellow countrywoman on the yacht named Victoria Logan. Initially, I wanted to pass a message to you through Victoria Logan, but Night Owl discovered it.
Night Owl wanted to kill Victoria Logan; I spoke up for her, which angered Night Owl.
Night Owl told me to jump into the sea; at the time, I thought it was an opportunity."
Adrian mocked, "What kind of opportunity is that? An opportunity to die? Do you know today if I hadn’t shown up in time, you’d be dead!"
Thinking she could have died, Adrian became angry at her recklessness.
"I had no other choice, Night Owl wanted to take me to Kalare. If I went to Kalare, escaping would be even harder."
"..."
"Night Owl wanted to take you to Kalare?" Adrian frowned.
"Yes. Night Owl said Kalare is a place without a government, it’s safe there."
Adrian said, "It is safe."
Sienna still wished to discuss more about Night Owl, but Adrian interrupted her, not wanting to continue.
The fruit wasn’t big; Sienna was hungry, after a few bites she finished one, Adrian handed her another, but Sienna didn’t want to eat anymore.
"How could just one fruit be filling? You should eat another."
Sienna shook her head, nestled into Adrian’s embrace, closed her eyes, and said, "I’ve been sleeping poorly, very tired lately, hold me, let me sleep a bit."
"Alright."
Sienna sat on Adrian’s leg, her head resting on his arm. Adrian held Sienna like a baby; she slept soundly while Adrian gazed at Sienna’s sleeping face, touching it over and over...
She thought it was a dream; he feared it was a dream too.
