Chapter 1830: Chapter 1830: Cooking Personally

In the afternoon, Jian Dan went back to Li Garden early.

"Jin, you don’t need to cook tonight. I’m planning to personally prepare a lavish meal for Uncle. I’m heading to the backyard to pick some vegetables!" said Jian Dan as soon as she stepped through the door, addressing Jin who was busy in the kitchen.

"Oh!" Jin casually responded, but when it registered that Jian Dan said she would cook, Jin hurried out of the kitchen, only to find Jian Dan already gone.

Jin quickly took off her apron and went to the backyard.

In the backyard, she saw Jian Dan squatting in the vegetable patch, holding a mobile phone in one hand and following its instructions as she picked vegetables.

"Madam, let me do it!" Jin tried to speak in a normal tone as much as possible.

"Don’t worry, Jin, I can do it!"

"Madam, you’ve been working all day, it’s best to take a good rest. Let me handle it! Just tell me what you want to eat." Jin said as she prepared to enter the vegetable patch.

"Don’t move." Jian Dan stopped Jin, who had just lifted her foot to step into the patch. "Jin, trust me, I really can do it."

"But..."

"Jin, don’t you believe in me?" Jian Dan turned her head and looked pitifully at Jin.

"How could I not? I just..."

"Since you trust me, then leave it to me!" said Jian Dan, continuing to move through the vegetable patch.

Soon Jian Dan returned with the vegetables she needed, meticulously washed them clean, and began chopping.

Jin followed Jian Dan closely throughout the process, not daring to take her eyes off for a second, fearing that a moment’s inattention might cause a problem. A kitchen fire wasn’t a big deal, but an injury was a serious issue.

When Jin saw Jian Dan starting to prepare, she finally relaxed a bit, realizing Jian Dan wasn’t using the stove. She had found recipes on her phone and was making cold dishes.

A platter of tomatoes with sugar, a dish of spicy cucumbers, a bowl of cabbage with vermicelli, and a vegetable salad.

"Jin, look, isn’t it quite presentable?" Jian Dan proudly asked, glancing at Jin.

"Yes! Not bad at all!" Jin nodded.

"Right! I think so too!" Jian Dan was as happy as a child.

When Jian Dan just placed the dishes on the table, Uncle came home, and the kids came down from upstairs for dinner.

"Jin, why are there just four cold dishes today?" Xiaoxin asked, seeing the simple spread of cold dishes.

Chu Liyuan changed into casual clothes and joined them in the dining room, "The cold dishes are good, just the right change of pace for you all."

All five picked up their chopsticks simultaneously.

Jian Dan watched nervously, temporarily even forgetting to breathe.

As the cold dishes were tasted, four of them reacted normally, but only Xiaoxin spat out the food she had put in her mouth. "Jin, what did you do to this?"

Initially relieved by the other four’s reactions, Jian Dan’s mood dropped instantly due to Xiaoxin’s response.

"What’s wrong? I think it’s delicious, suits my taste perfectly!" Chu Liyuan said, taking another bite.

"I think so too!" said Jian Xiaokai, joining in.

"Yes, yes! Tasty, tasty!" Qian Lele laughed as she continued eating the cold dishes.

"Indeed, it’s not bad. This might be the best cold dish I’ve ever had," Kuaikuai spoke in a cold tone, but his words were exceptionally warm.

"Isn’t something wrong with all of your taste buds?" Xiaoxin looked at the four skeptically.

Qian Lele, seated next to Xiaoxin, tugged her sleeve and whispered a few words in her ear, prompting a 360-degree change in Xiaoxin’s attitude.

"Hmm! I didn’t taste properly just now, I’ll try again. Hmm! How did I taste before? It’s delicious, delicious!" she said, taking a couple more bites.

"You don’t need to comfort me; it seems I really have no talent for cooking. I can’t even follow a recipe and make it taste good!" Jian Dan said somewhat disappointedly.

"But it’s full of heart!"

All four kids spoke simultaneously.

Chu Liyuan held Jian Dan’s hand, "Full of heart."
