Chapter 1548 - There Must Be a Traitor
Chapter 1548 There Must Be a Traitor
Lin Che heaved a sigh of relief and thought of taking a look inside to see how Yu Minmin was doing.
A moment later, the doctor came out.
“Doctor Chen, Mrs. Gu, don’t worry. Both mother and son are safe. The child’s about four kg.”
The doctor wiped off his sweat. Helping the First Lady to deliver was really a nerve-wracking event. Now that it was over, he heaved a sigh of relief.
Lin Che quickly ran in and saw Yu Minmin lying there with the newborn in her arms. She looked haggard, and her whole body was soaked in sweat as though she had used up all her sweat in her life. But her lips had a satisfied smile as she looked at her child.
When she saw Lin Che enter, she held onto her. “Thank goodness it’s over. I thought… I couldn’t take it anymore…”
“Alright, alright, it’s fine now.” Lin Che hugged her and looked at the child. She smiled. “The boy looks a lot like his father.”
Yu Minmin looked down and smiled in relief.
Just then…
“Minmin.”
Gu Jingming entered and looked at her with worry.
Yu Minmin got a shock. “Jingming…”
He immediately said, “Minmin, why didn’t you tell me? It’s such a big matter. Your body…”
He took a few steps to be beside Yu Minmin.
Lin Che quickly got up and gave her spot to Gu Jingming.
Gu Jingming lowered his head to look at the child, and then at Yu Minmin.
Yu Minmin asked, “Why are you here?”
“Why wouldn’t I be here?”
“I didn’t allow them to tell you…”
“Silly, am I still a man if this is not made known to me?”
“But…”
“What happens at home depicts the governance of the country. If I can’t even be a man good enough at home, what right do I have to govern the country?”
Yu Minmin felt even more grieved.
She felt that she was dragging him; she could not do anything.
Gu Jingming hugged her and looked at the child. “Our child…”
Lin Che watched the family of three huddled together and felt very moved.
She quietly walked out and left the two to be alone.
When she was outside, she saw Gu Jingze hurrying over with a solemn face.
“What happened?” Lin Che looked at Gu Jingze with curiosity.
Lin Che held onto Lin Che lightly. “When Eldest Brother got wind of the news, he left the entire house of generals and returned on his own.”
“But…”
No wonder Yu Minmin did not want to let Gu Jingming know. Seeing Gu Jingze’s state, it seemed like the matter would get very serious.
Gu Jingze said, “Did Yu Minmin send someone to inform him?”
Lin Che shook her head. “Of course not.”
“Then, if this matter got to my brother’s ears, it looks like…” Gu Jingze lowered his head, touched his chin, and got into deep thoughts.
Lin Che’s eyes flew around. “That means that someone wanted your brother to know on purpose?”
Gu Jingze did not say anything but looked at her, as though agreeing with her guess.
Lin Che asked, “Then… does it mean we have a traitor among us?”
Thinking about this, Lin Che went through her head.
She could not think of anyone on her side who would betray her.
Dong Zi and the rest had gone through so much with her. Why would they do such a thing?
However, Gu Jingze was right. Only a few of them knew about this. The doctor and nurses were Chen Yucheng’s people. If his people let the news out, then it was his side that had a problem.
Gu Jingze said, “We need to be more cautious in the future.”
“I think the highest possibility is those doctors and nurses from Chen Yucheng’s side. But… if not, it’ll be wronging a good person. I hope we will find evidence.”
“I’ll check on them one by one,” Gu Jingze said.
Lin Che felt it was gloomy on her side and was a little worried about her people.
No matter who it was, she would not be able to take it.
—
Outside, the news of Yu Minmin’s birth had gotten out. People were already talking about it before congratulations were offered.
Gu Jingming had left an enormous pile of military matters for his wife’s labor when he quickly returned home.
Some felt it was romantic.
“The President loves his wife so much. I envy the First Lady.”
“The President is a good example of being a man.”
“The President is full of love.”
“The President knows how to be human.”
However, some others did not feel the same.
People on the internet started inciting that the President had neglected the military matters amid a war and abandoned his entire house of generals.
“Mr. President has to make the country his priority. First, there is the country, and then there is home. In front of the country, anything else is a small matter.”
“Such an important matter, and it can’t be compared to a small matter at home. I feel sad for this country.”
“We feel that we have to ask if Mrs. President is important, then what about us?”
In an instant, everyone started questioning.
A string of topics questioned if the President was qualified enough to continue being their leader.
—
Yu Minmin was at home looking after the children. Reputable confinement ladies were engaged in helping her with her confinement.
They had not entered but met at the door. They spoke to each other. “I heard it’s serious this time.”
“I don’t know what Madam’s secret formula is to make Mr. President…. Like her so much.”
“If you say she’s pretty, she’s not very pretty. If you say she’s gentle, I don’t see her being gentle.”
“I thought they said that it was because she had good ties with the other Mrs. Gu?”
“Are you talking about Gu Jingze and his family?”
“Yes, yes.”
“Haha, now it looks like it is the case. Anyway… if the one in my home treats me half as well, I’ll rest in peace.”
“Not that it’s bad, but what’s the use of disregarding his career and only treating her well? Now because of her ignorance, she implicated the President to get reprimanded.”
“The main point is, this is not the first time.”
They were worried.
They were working for Gu Jingming, relying on the Gu family for their livelihood. If Gu Jingming had some problems… they were worried…
After entering through the doors and seeing the children, there were some compliments.
These days, Yu Minmin has gotten used to everyone’s compliments.
Seeing how everyone had taken a look, she passed her child to the nanny to bring him in to rest.
The few people looked at Yu Minmin. “Everyone’s saying they envy Madam now.”
“Yeah, they’re saying Madam is blessed that Mr. President adored her so much.”
Yu Minmin drank some tonic soup and looked at the people who seemed hesitant about saying something.
“Just say what you’re thinking.”
A few of them looked at one another and told Yu Minmin, “It’s just that we’re thinking on Madam’s behalf. We’ve been on good terms with you for so long, and everyone’s like sisters.”
