Chapter 721: Toppling The Masses (1)
By the time she came out, it was already dark. The streetlights by the side of the street lit up one after another. Shi Yao stood by the roadside for a moment before walking toward the bus stop sign not too far away.
She raised her head and stared at the bus stop sign for a moment before carrying a cake and waiting quietly for about ten minutes. When she saw that the bus she was going to take had arrived, she queued up to follow the crowd and get on the bus.
The capital at around six o’clock was the peak of the night, and it was the most congested time of the day. The bus stopped and swayed for about an hour before it finally reached where Shi Yao was going to get off.
She walked for about seven hundred meters before arriving at the entrance of Lin Jiage’s apartment complex.
It was fortunate that she had lived here for a month before, so she had been in and out quite a few times. The security guards remembered her, so when they saw her, they didn’t stop her. On the contrary, they even chatted with her for a bit before opening the door for her.
The residential area where Lin Jiage’s apartment was located took up a lot of space, and there were plenty of greenery as well. It took Shi Yao around ten minutes to reach Lin Jiage’s apartment.
She tilted her head up and counted from floor to floor. When she reached the 21st floor, she realized that Lin Jiage’s apartment was pitch-black.
He had told her before that he didn’t live in the Lin family’s old mansion, so he lived here instead… even though he had renovated other properties, he had never lived in one before, so he wasn’t used to it either… So, he was busy with something and hadn’t returned yet?
Shi Yao scanned her surroundings before finding a lounge chair. She put down the cake and sat down on the chair, playing with her phone while waiting.
Time didn’t pass by too quickly, but it wasn’t too slow either. Unknowingly, Shi Yao’s phone popped up with a notification saying that the battery was less than 20% .
Only then did Shi Yao take a look at the time. It was already ten o’clock… Lin Jiage wasn’t back yet?
With this thought in mind, Shi Yao raised her head once more to look at the 21st floor. The windows were still pitch-black.
Shi Yao didn’t bother with her phone anymore. She raised her head and stared at the windows of Lin Jiage’s apartment for an indeterminable amount of time. Only then did she realize what she was doing at that moment?
To think that she couldn’t help but buy a cake, come to his house, and wait for him downstairs for nearly three hours… This was something that she would never do in the past.., but today, she actually did it all without even realizing it… just when did he start to have such a huge influence on her?
But all along, she was the one who insisted on breaking off the engagement. Now that the engagement was really broken off, what could she possibly do now… running to his apartment like this?
Shi Yao suddenly felt a little timid. She looked at Lin Jiage’s pitch-black window, then at the cake in her hands. After struggling for a long time, she finally chose to stand up and leave with the cake in her hands.
She walked along the same path as before, heading toward the entrance of the residential area. However, she had only taken two steps when a car drove up to her. The headlights of the car were still on, making it difficult for her to open her eyes.
She stopped in her tracks and moved to the side. Due to the blinding light, she subconsciously raised her hand to cover her eyes.
The car quickly drove past her.
After the blinding light disappeared, Shi Yao put down her hand and raised her foot once more. However, before she could take a step forward, the car that she had just driven drove back and stopped beside her.
Instinctively, Shi Yao turned her head around. As the window of the back seat slowly rolled down, Lin Jiage’s face, which could topple any living being, slowly fell into her eyes.
