The Beautiful CEO's Dragon Blood Bodyguard
Chapter 2734 - 2733: Under the Laurel Tree
Chapter 2734: Chapter 2733: Under the Laurel Tree
Zhu Bajie was feeling happy, whispering to Long Fei while introducing the place, as if he often visited here.
The Broad Cold Palace was immense, originally the palace of the wife of the Primordial Demon Emperor, Moon Goddess Chang Xi.
The palace’s flying eaves and slanting roofs were meticulously and quaintly designed.
Where Chang’e resided, there was only a large hall at the front.
Most of the area at the back had closed doors, with a chilly silence and no one present.
In the courtyard in front of the main hall, there stood a massive laurel tree.
This tree was five hundred zhang tall, with an umbrella-like canopy and a tree trunk resembling a giant pillar, shading the entire courtyard.
Yellow little flowers bloomed on the tree, exuding a mild fragrance.
Chang’e invited everyone to sit in a pavilion nearby, where a rabbit came running and transformed into the figure of a woman, obediently serving tea to everyone.
She had two rabbit teeth, a round face, bright and lively eyes, and her smile was quite adorable.
Seeing her, Zhu Bajie chuckled, "Sister Jade Rabbit, it’s been years, and you’ve grown even prettier."
The Jade Rabbit Spirit shyly covered her face, and after brewing the tea, she transformed back into a rabbit and nestled in Chang’e’s arms.
Chang’e raised her hand to entertain, "Everyone, please taste the flavor of my Moon Palace’s osmanthus tea."
"It’s definitely delicious!"
Zhu Bajie opened his big mouth and poured the tea into it, wiping the corners of his mouth, he repeatedly exclaimed, "Delicious, delicious, everything Chang’e Fairy makes is delicious."
Long Fei and Jiufeng smiled watching, each sipping their tea.
The tea carried the sweet fragrance of osmanthus, rich and mellow with an unforgettable aftertaste, indeed carrying a unique flavor.
After a while, a robust man emerged from a side hall, carrying an axe to the laurel tree, beginning to chop it mechanically.
The laurel tree thudded, reverberating as the giant axe gouged open gashes.
Yet, in the blink of an eye, the wounds healed anew.
Observing this, Zhu Bajie shook his head, "This Wuu Gang truly has a one-track mind. After all these years, he’s still chopping trees here?"
Jiufeng curiously asked, "Sister Chang’e, what madness is this person under? I heard he’s from our Witch Tribe?"
"He is also a person of bitter fate."
Chang’e sighed, "He ventured out for the path of Dao, gone for three years. Upon returning, he discovered that the Demon Emperor and Moon Goddess’s grandson Boling had an affair with his wife, bearing three children. In a fit of anger, he killed Boling, but Boling’s corpse was buried by the Moon Goddess under the laurel tree, and his primordial spirit nourished within the tree.
It is said after many years, he will resurrect.
Wuu Gang, unwilling, seeks to destroy Boling’s primordial spirit, but was stopped by Moon Goddess Chang Xi.
After the Witch-Demon war, the Demon Emperor, Solar God Xihe, and Moon Goddess Chang Xi went together to death. As part of the Witch Tribe, Wuu Gang participated in the battle. His head was injured, losing consciousness, only remembering that the tree was Boling. Driven by physical instinct, he constantly chops the tree. Chop, sleep, wake, chop—never a day of rest."
Zhu Bajie listened, clicking his tongue, "This fellow truly is a ruthless character, never letting go of the grudge after so many years."
Jiufeng unsurprised, "Our Witch Tribe has such a nature, repaying grudges and favors. Knowing that it can’t be done, yet doing it—thus we have Kuafu chasing the sun, Hou Yi shooting the sun!"
Chang’e lowered her head, feeling sad, "In one’s life between heaven and earth, if there were less strife, there wouldn’t be so much slaughter."
Jiufeng held her hand, asking, "Sister Chang’e, are you missing Brother Hou Yi?"
Chang’e sighed, "What’s the use of missing? He’s been gone for so many years, I’ve long gotten used to it."
Jiufeng eagerly asked, "Sister Chang’e, have you ever thought, that Brother Hou Yi might still be alive?"
Chang’e looked at Jiufeng in disbelief, "What are you saying?"
"Brother Hou Yi..."
Jiufeng was about to speak, but felt her hand suddenly grasped.
Long Fei indicated silently from the side, shaking his head at her.
Jiufeng cleared her throat, then told Chang’e, "What I mean is, Brother Hou Yi was neither seen alive nor found dead back then, maybe he still has hope of surviving in the Human Realm?"
Chang’e shook her head, "Impossible, he was killed by the plotting of the Demon Emperor’s son, Daoist Lu Ya, there’s no such hope. Sister need not comfort me; I’ve long gotten used to living alone."
Jiufeng frowned, saying no more.
She, along with Long Fei and Zhu Bajie, finished their tea, stood up, and bid farewell to Chang’e, "Sister, rest well! I have business to attend to, farewell for now."
Long Fei also stood up, "We shall not disturb any further."
Zhu Bajie was reluctant, "Don’t hurry away! There’s some tea left, drink a bowl before going!"
"Marshal Tianpeng, do you want to be punished by the Jade Emperor again?"
Jiufeng held his large ear, dragging him out the door along.
Long Fei exchanged a glance with the dazed Chang’e in the pavilion, then followed Jiufeng and the others out.
Outside the door, Zhu Bajie lingered at Chang’e’s entrance, shouting inside, "Sister Chang’e, I’m here guarding you!"
Long Fei didn’t mind him, letting Jiufeng lead the way to the crack.
Jiufeng asked him, "Why didn’t you let me tell Sister Chang’e about Brother Hou Yi?"
Long Fei replied, "This laurel tree is not simple; I’m afraid if you do, it’ll bring trouble to Sister Chang’e."
Jiufeng raised her brows, "The laurel tree?"
Long Fei explained, "I just took a closer look; the Moon Palace’s terrain gathers Yin energy, and the laurel tree grows right on the formation eye. If it’s like Chang’e said, I’m afraid this tree is truly Moon Goddess’s preparation for her grandson’s resurrection."
Jiufeng was surprised, "You’re saying, Emperor Flame’s son Boling will resurrect?"
"Indeed!"
Long Fei nodded.
Jiufeng urged, "Then what are you waiting for, go over and help Wuu Gang burn this tree! This man disregards manners and shame, luring other’s wife, certainly not a good person."
Long Fei shook his head, "It’s not that simple. Moon Goddess is one of the gods of creation; the setup she laid is not so easily undone. The crack appearing on the Lunar Star seems to be an ominous sign."
"I have the same feeling!"
Jiufeng looked at him, "Many strange things have happened recently, it seems like many forces have their eyes on here. Your arrival is perfect, join me in investigating thoroughly."
Long Fei teased her intentionally, "Why should I help you?"
Jiufeng raised her charming face, pouting, "Don’t help if you don’t want to. But I might just tell your wife about your private meeting here with Sister Chang’e. I’ve heard she is quite a jealous person; wonder if she’d be jealous of Sister Chang’e?"
Long Fei coughed twice, "Don’t speak nonsense; I’m here to assist Marshal Tianpeng, not for private meetings with Chang’e."
Jiufeng sneered mischievously, "Do you think your wife’s sister would believe you?"
Long Fei smiled helplessly, "Alright, I’ll help you, okay?"
"That’s more like it!"
Jiufeng laughed proudly, "The Emperor feared his wife’s reputation; it turned out to be true. Speaking of it, I truly envy sister, having such a considerate husband like you."
Looking at her, Long Fei suddenly grabbed her wrist, staring directly into her eyes, "If you envy, just marry over; I’ll definitely pamper you like this!"
Jiufeng’s beautiful eyes shifted, her charming face blushed immediately, she pulled back her arm, "Dream on, if you fear your wife that much, marrying over would be a punishment for me, wouldn’t it?"
Embarrassed, she hurried away, afraid she might genuinely fall for Long Fei.
She dared not to forget the lessons from her past life.
