Chapter 2596: Chapter 2594: Layered Blockades

The blade came down, and it looked as if Wu Song and An Daoquan were about to be cut in half.

At that moment, Wu Song’s legs, like an azure dragon, suddenly lashed out at the two knife-wielding men in black.

Bang, bang, two explosive sounds.

The two men screamed and flew backward, crashing heavily into the mud wall behind them, causing the thatched house to collapse with a loud rumble.

Wu Song reached up and grabbed An Daoquan, vaulting upward and flying out.

A dozen shadows suddenly appeared, brandishing knives as they surrounded them, descending together.

One person stared at Wu Song, coldly saying, "The hero who fights tigers is truly as reputed."

Wu Song eyed the group, his expression tense as he asked, "Who are you? Who sent you?"

The man in black sneered, "You don’t need to know that. Once you’re down there, King Yama will naturally tell you!"

He raised his hand and conjured a golden gong.

"A cultivator?"

An Daoquan cried out in surprise and quickly hid behind Wu Song.

Though he was a Divine Doctor, his cultivation level was low, and he was not a Pill Alchemist; he had no defensive skills.

The man raised his hand and struck the gong, which rang loudly and vibrated violently.

The golden gong resonated, sending a sonic wave toward Wu Song and An Daoquan.

The sound wave shook the space, kicking up a layer of dust from the ground.

Simultaneously, Wu Song’s hand unleashed a golden light, breaking through the levels of the sound wave, and with a puff sound, pierced through the gong and through the man’s chest.

The dart, carrying True Immortal’s Might, shredded the man’s primordial spirit into ashes, which scattered as a golden light.

"Big brother!"

The other men in black were startled, immediately lifting their long knives to strike at Wu Song.

The sword energy unfurled like a series of ribbons, transforming into a net of swords enveloping Wu Song and An Daoquan.

"Break!"

Wu Song raised his palm toward the sky, and the palm left an imprint in the wind, shattering the net of sword energy with a loud crash.

He moved like a swimming dragon, seizing an arm of a man in black and snatching his long knife.

With one slash, he cut across the neck of the man in black.

Before one of the men in black could bring his blade down, Wu Song’s long knife had already cut toward the man’s right hand.

With a puff, the knife fell, and the hand was severed, spurting blood.

The man in black let out a scream as his neck was slashed, causing a fountain of blood.

His sword was like a chains of perdition, pursuing and cutting into the formation of knife-wielding men in black.

He slashed upward, cut horizontally, hacked downward, dropping three men in black in quick succession.

His actions were clean and efficient, each stroke meant death.

"Kill the weak one first!"

The man in black in front of An Daoquan raised his knife, only to see a row of silver needles fly up, whizzing and stabbing into their necks.

With one needle, their temples swelled with blood, and they fell to the ground dead.

Holding a silver needle, An Daoquan laughed as he stroked his beard, "If I don’t make a move, did you really think I don’t know how to kill?"

The remaining three men in black realized the situation was dire, exchanged glances, and turned to flee.

Wu Song’s golden dart shot out, the True Immortal level magical treasure tracing an arc in the air, hitting them on the thighs with a series of wet sounds.

Their thighs burst with blood, exploding with a thunderous crash.

They rolled on the ground, screaming in agony.

Wu Song approached with a knife, holding it against a man’s neck as he demanded, "Who sent you?"

The man in black was sweating as he rasped, "Kill me if you want, but if I frown, I’m not a real man..."

Before he could finish, Wu Song’s blade came down like a guillotine, separating his body from his head.

The potent knife aura obliterated even the golden core within his divine sea.

He placed the knife against the neck of the second man in black, but this man was quick, biting his tongue to commit suicide.

The third man in black cried out in terror, "Don’t kill me, don’t kill me!"

Wu Song demanded, "Speak! Who sent you?"

The man in black began to sob uncontrollably, "I’ll tell you, I’ll tell you, it was..."

Just as he was about to say the name, a flash of blood light appeared from behind, blasting him to pieces with a bang.

Wu Song and An Daoquan swiftly retreated to avoid the flying flesh.

An Daoquan exclaimed with furrowed brows, "Was that the Blood Light Curse?"

"This mastermind behind the scenes is so vicious!"

Wu Song nodded, quickly jumping onto a carriage, calling for An Daoquan, "Something must have changed at Yang Valley Pass, let’s return immediately."

An Daoquan dared not complain, leaping onto the carriage with Wu Song to rush back to Yang Valley Pass.

Among these men in black, the strongest was at the Divinity Transformation Realm, taken down by one of Wu Song’s darts.

The rest, at the Core Formation Stage and Enlightenment Realm, totaled about a dozen, which was not a negligible force.

In Yanggu City, a golden eagle landed at Rejuvenation Hall, perched on Ximen Qing’s wrist.

After a moment, the golden eagle flapped its wings and departed.

The Plague Demon Monarch, eating peanuts on the side, gloated, "Looks like the grand plan has failed."

Ximen Qing, however, calmly smiled, "I knew these people wouldn’t work out, just a bunch of unruly riff-raff. That’s why I’ve set up another line of defense outside the city. If Wu Erlang manages to get through, I’ll concede."

"You’re very confident?"

The Plague Demon Monarch replied with disdain, "This Wu Erlang is Iron Arm Immortal Zhou Tong’s disciple."

Ximen Qing said, "So what, just a Body Cultivator. Without divine skills, it’s ultimately futile."

On the only road to Yang Valley Pass, a man dressed as an ascetic monk stood, a zen staff by his side, holding a wine gourd, drinking.

A string of skulls hung around his neck, exuding a terrifying aura of yin energy.

He tilted his ear, hearing the sound of horse hooves approaching in the distance, his eyes shining like flames in the night as he stared ahead.

As the hoofbeats drew nearer, they were still some distance away.

The Dragon Blood Steed with deer antlers suddenly exploded into a mist of blood, sending the carriage rolling forward violently.

Wu Song darted back, pulling An Daoquan out as they landed.

Both their eyes fixated on the ascetic monk in the distance.

The monk looked at them and smiled coldly, "Good horse, just right to roast and eat for the Buddha Master!"

An Daoquan fixed his gaze on the skull necklace, furrowing his eyebrows as he spoke, "Are you the Arid Mountain Itinerant Monk who eats human hearts?"

"Divine Doctor An Daoquan, you have some insight."

The monk stood up, his black robe billowing in the wind, towering at over three meters, hefting the zen staff in his hand as he approached the two of them.

Wu Song’s brow tightened as he glared at the monk, demanding, "Who wants my life so badly that they’d even send an Arhat like you?"

An Arhat’s cultivation level is equivalent to the Daoist Celestial Venerate Realm.

With each step the monk took, the immense pressure he emitted felt like a monstrous beast relentlessly bearing down, making An Daoquan’s heart pound wildly.

Wu Song’s blood was equally boiling, sweat beading on his forehead.

Arid Mountain Itinerant Monk laughed heartily, "The dead don’t need to know so much. I already knew that your body is extraordinary, Wu Erlang, and your heart must taste great with wine. Dying by my hand tonight, you two won’t be disgraced!"
