The Beautiful CEO’s Close Bodyguard
Chapter 1817 - 1803
Inside the cage, Chu Ge sat cross-legged. On such a night, he had no leisure to sit in the cage and appreciate the scenery.
Tonight, someone had drugged the food, and he discovered it. The Old Gang Leader also discovered it. He had intended to warn the Old Gang Leader, but the Old Gang Leader gave him a look, and at that moment, he understood.
What puzzled him was that the Old Gang Leader ate without hesitation. He himself was immune to all poisons, but he didn’t expect the Old Gang Leader to be too.
Chu Ge grew increasingly curious about the Old Gang Leader, but now was not the time to explore the Old Gang Leader’s background.
While transmitting energy, he heard the sound of wind and caught a faint powdery fragrance in his nose. Was there a woman in the camp?
Chu Ge wondered. Feng Luo was a woman, but she never used these vulgar perfumes. Moreover, this scent was quite refined, clearly not cheap. He furrowed his brows imperceptibly and continued to meditate.
In the shadows, Ye Liang changed out of her tight clothing and huddled there. The Old Gang Leader had just been here when she arrived. Initially, she thought she’d have to face two opponents tonight, but unexpectedly the Old Gang Leader was summoned away by the Prince mid-conversation. Truly, heaven was aiding her.
Chu Ge, don’t blame me for being ruthless. This is a mission I must complete!
Ye Liang silently muttered to herself. Half a cup of tea’s time had passed, yet Chu Ge remained meditating without any sign of trouble.
She couldn’t help but wonder. Had they not eaten the poison she administered? It shouldn’t be the case. She had clearly seen him eat it!
She glanced at the starry sky. If she continued to stay silent, she didn’t know what changes might occur. If the Old Gang Leader returned, it would become even more troublesome.
Thinking of this, Ye Liang covered her head with a scarf, preparing to charge out from the shadows.
Suddenly, her shoulder sank. Ye Liang’s heart skipped a beat. She quickly turned around, only to see a familiar face in front of her.
"Ru Xue?" Ye Liang sighed in relief, "You come and go without a trace, not a sound!"
Ru Xue’s face remained cold. She squatted down to glance at Chu Ge, then asked, "What are you doing? Planning to act rashly?"
"I waited for you to arrive late, and seeing time was running out, I decided to take matters into my own hands." Ye Liang answered truthfully.
"I hold a revered status, so coming out always involves trouble. Besides, are you planning to act against Chu Ge in broad daylight?"
Ru Xue only felt Ye Liang was crazy. This was a military camp, where any disturbance would trigger a massive response. Even if they succeeded in their task, escape would be impossible.
Ye Liang shot her a look, "Look closely, it’s nighttime now."
"So what if it’s night? So what if it’s day? This is a military camp, filled with soldiers. Even at night, there are patrolling soldiers. Your rash move is simply foolish!"
"That’s better than sitting and waiting for death!"
"Who said we need to sit and wait for death."
As they spoke, neither noticed that Chu Ge had slowly opened his eyes, looking in their direction with complex emotions in his eyes.
He turned to look at the soldier guarding him. The soldier, at some point, had fallen asleep, standing and dozing, as if about to topple at any moment.
Chu Ge shook his head slightly. He stood up from the cage, then chopped open the lock on the cage door with one palm.
With a clatter, the crisp sound did not wake the sleeping soldier, but it startled Ye Liang and Ru Xue, who were passionately talking nearby.
Ru Xue and Ye Liang quickly looked over at Chu Ge. By the time they reacted, Chu Ge was already standing in front of them.
Ye Liang suddenly stood up, raised her hand, and aimed a chop at Chu Ge’s neck. However, Chu Ge was faster; he grabbed her wrist, twisted and pushed, and Ye Liang was directly pushed to the ground.
"It seems you didn’t remember what I said."
Chu Ge said indifferently. He glanced at Ru Xue with a detached expression, his lips curling into a slight disdain, "Indeed, you two are together."
Ru Xue squinted at Chu Ge, "You recognized me?"
"So what if I did? So what if I didn’t?" Chu Ge retorted.
"I’m not in the mood for idle chat. Since you recognized me and know we’re coming for you, then let’s have an open fight." Ru Xue’s lips curled, not quite smiling.
Chu Ge sneered, "I disdain fighting with women. Ye Liang, I’ve told you before you’re not my match. The poison you used won’t affect me at all. It seems you didn’t take my words to heart."
Ye Liang got up from the ground, glared at Chu Ge coldly, and snorted, "Enough with the nonsense. Since everything is out in the open, let’s have a good fight!"
Chu Ge shook his head gently, "I won’t fight you. Leave now, before they discover you. If you delay, I won’t be able to save you."
Ye Liang frowned, "What do you mean? Are you looking down on us? Do you feel we aren’t worthy as your opponents?"
Chu Ge shook his head again, "You were mistaken. The first person I met in this time and space was you. You took me in, gave me food, and a place to sleep. Regardless of your intentions, I won’t forget this favor, and that’s why I’m letting you go for the second time. You have only three chances; if you attack me after that, I won’t be polite!"
Ye Liang pressed her lips tightly, "Chu Ge! I don’t need you to repay any favors. I took you in and fed you, for a purpose!"
"That’s your matter. Returning the favor is mine!" Chu Ge glanced into the distance. A team of patrolling soldiers was approaching. "People are coming; you better leave now. If not, it will be too late to escape."
Ye Liang was unwilling. She hadn’t acted yet! She came to kill Chu Ge! How could Chu Ge be so calm?
Ru Xue gave a meaningful look at Chu Ge and Ye Liang. After pondering for a moment, she walked over to Ye Liang, pulled her up, and said, "Come with me!"
Ru Xue soared into the air, taking Ye Liang with her, disappearing into the night.
Chu Ge watched their departing figures, slightly furrowing his brows. He wasn’t merciful like a Bodhisattva, nor a saint. To show mercy to someone who repeatedly tried to kill him? He didn’t know what came over him; it was just sympathy.
Yes, sympathy. He sympathized with Ye Liang, inexplicably.
Hearing footsteps behind him, Chu Ge remained as calm as ever. He returned to the cage as if nothing had happened, only the lock on the cage was broken. He shook his head slightly, what a pity for a good lock.
The patrolling team sped up their approach. The leader glared at Chu Ge, "What happened just now? I heard a noise."
Chu Ge sat in the cage, relying on the wooden rails behind him, chuckling as he watched the man, "As you see, what noise?"
