The Beautiful CEO’s Close Bodyguard
Chapter 1802 - 1788
However, Chu Ge’s concern was unnecessary. Before he could step forward, the Old Gang Leader took a step ahead and pulled Feng Luo behind him, "At such an occasion, how can you say such things!"
Feng Luo pouted, "Old Gang Leader, I’m telling the truth."
"Alright, just shut your mouth!" the Old Gang Leader scolded softly. After reprimanding Feng Luo, he looked up at Prince He Shuo and said, "Your Highness, Feng Luo is young and ignorant, I hope Your Highness will not blame her."
A slight smile appeared on the Prince’s stern face, making him seem less cold, "Old Gang Leader, every word Feng Luo said came from the bottom of her heart. I will verify the facts. Tonight we only confirmed the Three Baptisms; we will confirm the others later and decide on punishment accordingly."
It was unclear whether he was referring to punishing Feng Luo or those soldiers. The Old Gang Leader felt uneasy; this was not typical of the Prince’s style, was it?
If it were in the past, he would definitely have pursued the matter thoroughly, but he quickly realized the timing and place. What’s the timing? This was his own territory; if anything else were discovered, he wouldn’t be able to save face.
The Old Gang Leader understood; the Prince was being cautious in his presence, not wanting to be laughed at. However, to put it another way, even if military discipline was a mess, if they could find the problem and correct it, that would still be good.
"Your Highness, although Feng Luo may have been disrespectful verbally, she had no disrespectful intent. Could Your Highness consider her youth and untie her?" the Old Gang Leader asked again.
The Prince hummed, "Untie Miss Feng Luo."
Feng Luo gained her freedom and rubbed her arm, as the bindings had been tight enough to almost cut off circulation. Those who tied her up must have been afraid she would run away, as they tied her tightly.
"Feng Luo, shouldn’t you quickly thank the Prince!"
"Thank you, Your Highness."
Just as Feng Luo was about to bow her head, the Prince stopped her.
"Don’t thank me just yet. Although I’ve untied you, I can’t overlook the disrespectful words you just spoke."
The Prince, holding a sleeve in one hand, looked at Feng Luo meaningfully, "But as it’s getting late now, once everything you mentioned is investigated, I will decide on your punishment."
Feng Luo pouted, "Yes, thank you, Your Highness."
"Old Gang Leader, you must be tired from the long journey. It’s better to head back and rest early."
The Prince instructed.
The Old Gang Leader knew he had more things to say to the soldiers that they were not meant to overhear. He bowed slightly and took his leave from the Prince.
Following them out were other military doctors, leaving only soldiers at the spot.
Back at the camp, the Old Gang Leader looked at Feng Luo with displeasure, "What happened tonight?"
Feng Luo, arms crossed, sat in the chair, "What could have happened? Just what you saw."
"I’m telling you, little lady, even when causing trouble, you have to consider the occasion. Look at you, making it hard for the Prince in front of so many soldiers, causing trouble on the first day; it’s impossible to stay peaceful in the coming days."
The Old Gang Leader had a face full of helplessness.
"Old Gang Leader, since when are you afraid of them?" Feng Luo looked at the Old Gang Leader suspiciously, feeling he was a bit strange today. When had the Old Gang Leader ever feared the Prince He Shuo? They would often argue fiercely in the court.
"It’s not fear but knowing when to hold back. Who are we? What’s our status now? Currently, under whose jurisdiction are we? You have to get this straight," the Old Gang Leader sighed. "We aren’t afraid of him, but we should understand our limits. Now we’re in their territory, following their commands. If we continue to show attitude, it’ll indeed be a joke."
Feng Luo felt unwilling, feeling the Old Gang Leader was deliberately making excuses.
"Enough about that, how about you two? You both were acting strange today. After dinner, you disappeared without a trace. Where did you go?" Feng Luo’s scrutinizing gaze turned back and forth on the Old Gang Leader and Chu Ge.
"It’s none of your business; it’s getting late. Go to sleep now." The Old Gang Leader waved at her to indicate she should go rest.
Feng Luo wouldn’t be dismissed so easily, "Old Gang Leader, even if you don’t say it, I know you and Chu Ge came to the camp with other things to do!"
"Didn’t you come to the camp with things to do too?" the Old Gang Leader retorted.
"I’m different; I’m here for our Beggar Sect Disciples, and you..." Feng Luo clicked her tongue, "Definitely up to no good!"
"You should stop nosing around, go to bed quickly. When the time is right, I’ll definitely let you know."
Through these words, the Old Gang Leader clearly admitted that what Feng Luo said was correct.
She knew it!
Feng Luo let out a smug hum, then hummed a little tune as she returned to her own tent.
After Feng Luo left, Chu Ge was somewhat puzzled, "Old Gang Leader, didn’t you say you need to activate the Time-Space Gate, and Feng Luo is the key? Why didn’t you tell her?"
"It’s not the time yet." The Old Gang Leader lightly shook his head, "You still don’t understand Feng Luo’s temperament? If I tell her now, she’ll drag you along tomorrow to see what the Time-Space Gate looks like. Her curiosity is too great."
That’s also true.
"Besides, we haven’t yet figured out the situation on Gourd Island. Once dawn breaks tomorrow, I’ll go and check it out."
The Old Gang Leader frowned. He couldn’t shake an uneasy feeling, hoping nothing goes wrong.
"How are you going to get to the island tomorrow?" Chu Ge asked, puzzled.
At dawn, the Old Gang Leader surely couldn’t fly over, or it would draw attention, wouldn’t it?
"Tomorrow I can disguise myself as a fisherman, go to sea with nearby villagers, and then get off at Gourd Island."
...
No one knows what the Prince said to the soldiers that night, but the next day, Chu Ge sensed a change in morale and atmosphere in the camp.
As usual, Chu Ge got up early to train, only to find that the soldiers were up even earlier, standing in orderly lines training.
What surprised Chu Ge even more was that the Old Gang Leader was already up early.
Yawning, he walked out of the tent, saw Chu Ge standing there watching, walked over, and said, "How did you sleep last night? Was it comfortable?"
Chu Ge smiled and nodded, "It was alright, there’s nothing to get used to or not."
He’s not picky about beds and can sleep anywhere.
He turned to look at the Old Gang Leader, noticing the fatigue on his face, and asked puzzled, "Old Gang Leader, what’s the matter with you? Didn’t you rest well last night?"
The Old Gang Leader nodded, letting out another yawn, "Yes, while I’m not picky about beds, sleeping in a tent feels a bit off, and those people got up so early to train, they woke me up."
