Just thinking about it, Luo Qi and Chu Ge walked in from outside with smiles on their faces.

"Mr. Chu, look, I said the Princess Consort came specifically to see you."

Luo Qi pointed at Ru Xue, who was sitting in the hall, and said with a smile.

Chu Ge smiled faintly and said, "I’ve troubled Boss Luo again."

As they spoke, they entered the hall.

Ru Xue saw Chu Ge and stood up with a slight smile, "Mr. Chu, we meet again."

"Thank you, Princess Consort, for your concern." Chu Ge slightly nodded, as a gesture of courtesy.

Not in front of the Prince would he bow, let alone to the Princess Consort!

Ru Xue naturally knew he wouldn’t bow to her, so she didn’t insist, "I just heard that you’re leaving tomorrow, so I came specifically to see you off."

She stood up, walked in front of Chu Ge, her eyebrows like ink, casting a subtle glance.

Chu Ge smiled, "Thank you, Princess Consort, but I’m just enlisting in the army, there’s no need for such a grand farewell."

Originally, he wanted to say it was making a mountain out of a molehill, but then thought better of it. If you belittle someone’s good intentions, that’s something he couldn’t bring himself to do!

Ru Xue, smiling shyly, "Mr. Chu, what are you saying, there’s no grand affair here. I originally wanted to come alone, but they insisted on following me, fulfilling their duties, so I didn’t stop them."

Chu Ge gestured for her to sit and said, "Princess Consort, please have a seat."

Ru Xue didn’t move, she stood there, gently raised her gaze, eyelids lightly lifted, casting a glance toward Chu Ge, an imperceptible scent spread around her.

Chu Ge subtly frowned, held his breath, and took a slight step back, "Princess Consort, please sit."

He made the gesture of inviting her again, this time everyone’s eyes were on Ru Xue, it was impossible for him to ignore it and not act!

Ru Xue’s expression slightly twitched, reluctantly turning back to her seat, silently pondering how her two attempts at using the Fox Charm Technique on Chu Ge had no effect, which was quite strange.

She had just used scent, turning her hand lightly in her sleeve while smiling shyly, releasing a fragrance from her palm that spread around, which no one breathing could escape!

Yet she saw Chu Ge’s eyes were extraordinarily bright, completely unaffected, leaving Ru Xue feeling slightly defeated. Could it be that Chu Ge isn’t interested in women?

Chu Ge seemed to have guessed Ru Xue’s thoughts, he slightly curled his lips and said to her, "Perhaps the Princess Consort has her exceptional traits, but to me, the Princess Consort is still the high and mighty Princess Consort. Maybe you care for the people and wish to be a respected good Princess Consort, but I’d suggest aiming your intentions at a group, not an individual."

The words got to this point, though indirect, Ru Xue understood Chu Ge’s implication.

He was clearly telling her not to have any ulterior motives towards him.

Ru Xue understood, and Luo Qi and Luo Jiu did too, but out of respect for Ru Xue, they didn’t show it.

Luo Qi’s lip twitched, thinking probably only Chu Ge could be bold enough to say such things.

However, looking at Ru Xue’s demeanor, she didn’t seem upset, casting doubt in his mind—could the Princess Consort be interested in Chu Ge because of his appearance?

He had heard how the concubines of the nobles, often lacking their husband’s attention, would seek lovers out of loneliness. But this was the Princess Consort! At the conscription site, he had seen the affection between the Prince and Princess Consort, admired by all.

So he dismissed this possibility.

Luo Qi got lost in thought, and it took Luo Jiu patting his shoulder to recall him back.

"Brother, what are you thinking? The Princess Consort is asking you something."

Luo Jiu softly said.

"Huh?" Luo Qi was stunned, did the Princess Consort just say something? What did she ask?

"Yes, the Princess Consort just asked if you were reluctant to see Feng Luo join the military."

Luo Qi cleared his throat, bowing to Ru Xue, "Thanks for your concern, Princess Consort, but whether I’m reluctant or not doesn’t change Feng Luo joining the army."

Ru Xue slightly nodded, "That’s true, but our kingdom’s laws aren’t strict, it prohibits women from joining the army, yet an exception was made for Miss Feng Luo."

"Princess Consort might not know, even though a military doctor has ’military’ in the title, it’s not considered military service, so women can become doctors with the army, which is permitted."

Luo Jiu explained, quietly thinking how this explanation exploited a loophole in the law known by all but corrected by none.

"By the way, I didn’t see the Old Gang Leader, I’ve heard he also intends to enlist. Quite a story if both young and old from the Beggar Gang enlist, it’s unbelievable!"

Luo Jiu laughed, "Indeed, it’s not believable, like you visiting our Beggar Gang twice, that’s not believable either."

Ru Xue’s lips twitched, remarking how straightforward ancient people were.

"I’ve seen the people, and said what needed saying, it’s time for me to go."

Standing up, Ru Xue glanced unwillingly at Chu Ge, meeting his gaze.

She saw it clearly this time, Chu Ge’s eyes were dark brown, ordinary, yet his gaze was uniquely bright.

Startled, she thought she underestimated Chu Ge.

She had considered working with Ye Liang to bully him, now realizing she needed to reconsider their collaboration.

Neither she nor Ye Liang could handle Chu Ge alone; only together would they have a chance.

Leaving the Beggar Gang, Chu Ge’s gaze lingered in her mind, reminiscent of the Palace Master’s.

His brown pupils were larger than most, vibrant, not something ordinary people have.

No wonder her Fox Charm Technique failed on him.

She speculated that Chu Ge’s power was at least mid-stage Grandmaster level.

Facing a Grandmaster level figure, she and Ye Liang... could they handle him?
