The Beast Tamer Who Sees Hidden Evolution Paths

Chapter 4: Three Evolution Forms, Material Requirements

  • Next Chapter

[Evolution Path One: Violet Resentment Orchid, Quality: Exceptional—Lower, Compatibility: 20%]

[Evolution Requirements: Beast level must reach Common 10. Core Evolution Material: Exceptional-grade Resentment Orb. Auxiliary Evolution Materials (click for details).]

[Beast Personality: Pessimistic. Resentment is the core personality. The closer the personality matches, the higher the evolution success rate.]

Beside this evolution path, Adrian also saw the form of the Violet Resentment Orchid.

Compared to the Violet Orchid, it was much larger. Four flowers swayed in the wind, and the shapes of the petals formed a resentful face. Just looking at it made one’s skin crawl.

Violet was one of only two beast companions in the house. Naturally, Adrian had spent the past two years actively collecting information about its possible evolutions.

But for most plant-type beast companions, the core materials and evolution methods were not publicly released by official sources.

Those formulas were usually held by high-level breeders as their personal foundations.

So when Adrian saw the evolution requirements column list the exact materials and proportions in such detail, his eyes lit up.

Knowing an evolution path and knowing how to actually evolve a beast into that form were two completely different things.

This Eye of All Spirits truly deserved to be a talent beyond S-rank.

The information on this panel alone already qualified him to become a breeder.

The difficulty of getting official breeder certification was another matter entirely.

With that, Adrian also understood why this evolution path had only a 20% compatibility with Violet.

The personality difference was too great.

He immediately looked at the second evolution path.

[Evolution Path Two: Violet Rain Orchid, Quality: Exceptional—Mid, Compatibility: 78%]

[Evolution Requirements: Beast level must reach Common 10. Core Evolution Material: Exceptional-grade Sweet Rain Orb. Auxiliary Evolution Materials (click for details).]

[Beast Personality: Gentle. Devotion is the core personality. The closer the personality matches, the higher the evolution success rate.]

Compared to the Violet Resentment Orchid, the Violet Rain Orchid’s form and appearance were far gentler.

It had only three flowers, but the buds were much larger. Purple dew rolled visibly on their surfaces.

In the Kingdom of Draconis, the Violet Rain Orchid was considered a very rare Exceptional-grade plant.

Ordinary breeders did not even have its evolution method. It was controlled by a few great families and organizations.

In terms of pure price, a single Violet Rain Orchid could not be bought without at least a million crowns.

After all, compared to the Violet Resentment Orchid, the Violet Rain Orchid was purely a support and production-type plant. The dew it produced was far more effective than the common-quality dew Violet currently produced each day. Naturally, it could generate much greater profit.

What surprised Adrian a little was this:

He compared the materials required for the two evolution paths.

The core material needed for the Violet Rain Orchid, the Sweet Rain Orb, was actually worth quite a bit less than the Resentment Orb.

It only went to show that evolution materials achieved their most precise effect when applied to a beast whose personality matched them.

Before he could see evolution paths, Adrian’s expectation for Violet had been to one day help it evolve into a Violet Rain Orchid.

But now, he clearly had a better option.

[Hidden Evolution Path: Violet Spirit Treasure Orchid, Quality: Exceptional—Upper, Compatibility: 99%]

[Evolution Requirements: Beast level must reach Common 10. Core Evolution Materials: Exceptional-grade Sweet Rain Orb, Exceptional-grade Spirit Treasure Liquid. Auxiliary Evolution Materials (click for details).]

[Beast Personality: Homebound. Devotion is the core personality. The closer the personality matches, the higher the evolution success rate.]

Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Compared to the other two evolution forms, the Violet Spirit Treasure Orchid looked almost naturally immortal.

Six flowers were arranged in a pagoda shape.

The buds were even larger than those of the Violet Rain Orchid. The dew on them carried a faint mist within the purple light, as if surrounded by immortal fog.

Adrian stared, eyes wide.

This was almost perfectly suited to Violet’s evolution form.

Homebound and devoted as core personalities were actually quite difficult to find in a plant.

They usually required experience, stories, and years of tempering to form.

To Adrian, to this beast feed shop, and to his late parents, Violet was the most precious treasure.

Being able to evolve it into the most suitable, highest-quality form was naturally what Adrian hoped for.

The Exceptional-grade Sweet Rain Orb was the same core material needed for the Violet Rain Orchid. If Adrian remembered correctly, its market price was around thirty thousand crowns.

He also knew the auxiliary materials. Together, they would not exceed ten thousand crowns.

But the Exceptional-grade Spirit Treasure Liquid—he had never even heard of it.

Still, with the Ember Seed and Westbrook Inheritor badges he had just received today, maybe he could search for this material in the Beast Tamers’ League marketplace.

Adrian kept looking at Violet, planning and arranging in his mind.

Violet had actually noticed Adrian’s arrival.

Seeing him lost in thought, brow slightly furrowed, she was startled.

Had the young master failed to awaken a good talent at today’s Awakening Ceremony?

That must be it. Usually, whenever he came back, he would stroke her flower buds and chat about everything that had happened at school.

Today he was so quiet. He probably did not know how to bring it up.

Violet was sensitive, but she was also a “mature” flower who had lived more than ten years.

Having watched Adrian grow up, she had plenty of experience comforting him.

Now, her two flowers dipped slightly, then snapped upright like a carp leaping. Two drops of dew landed precisely at the corners of Adrian’s mouth.

The sweetness spread through his mouth, and Adrian snapped back to the present.

Living Affinity let him immediately sense the “worry” in Violet’s heart.

He swallowed the two drops of dew, and his lips curved upward.

Usually, he might warn Violet not to feed him precious dew because it would affect customer orders.

But today, the fire and confidence in his heart left no room for such concerns.

Once Violet evolved, both the yield and quality of the dew would rise. A drop or two no longer mattered.

Adrian gently stroked Violet’s petals. “Violet, don’t worry about me. The talent I awakened is excellent, and it can help you evolve!”

“You’ve worked hard taking care of this whole family for so many years. Before she passed, Mother always talked about evolving you into a Violet Rain Orchid one day—to extend your lifespan and repair the damage to your foundation from producing too much dew all these years.”

“It won’t be long. Within this week, I’ll do everything I can to evolve you!”

“Then, no matter how many drops of dew you secretly stuff into my mouth, I won’t scold you!”

Hearing Adrian’s news, Violet’s emotions surged layer by layer.

She knew how precious a talent that could aid evolution was. It was the talent every beast companion hoped their tamer would have.

Now that Adrian had awakened it, it meant his path as a tamer could go farther, and his body would stay healthy…

He would be able to afford better things. He would not be tormented by changes in heat and cold like the two old masters. That was what mattered!

Violet’s purple glow brightened, showing her congratulations and heartfelt joy for Adrian.

Adrian returned to his room.

As he walked, he calculated in his head. He had saved some money over the years.

It was enough to pay for the Sweet Rain Orb and those auxiliary materials.

He needed to log into the official Beast Tamers’ League marketplace right now and see if there was any Exceptional-grade Spirit Treasure Liquid…
