Chapter 172: Chapter 172: Giant Form

As it drew closer, the group hiding in the trees couldn’t help but hold their breath in tense anticipation.

Even while crawling, it was almost twelve meters tall. How terrifying would it be if it stood up?!

Luna Dawson screamed internally. "Damn it! How are we supposed to fight this? Should I chop at the back of its neck? Can a Fourth Rank even grow this massive? What kind of giant variant is this?

"It has to die! If we let it keep devouring other High-level Creatures, humanity is truly doomed!

"There’s only one of it! We have two Fourth Rank fighters, so the advantage is ours! We have to end this quickly!"

While Luna was internally debating, the creature had already bounded over to the edge of the woods. It was so close that they could clearly see every wet, sticky gleam clinging to its dark red musculature.

The freezing wind carried flurries of snow through the treetops, but Luna felt the air instantly freeze. That deformed head was turning toward their direction at a teeth-grindingly slow speed, the eerie green light deep within its eye sockets locking onto them with pinpoint accuracy!

Luna hastily pulled out earplugs and tossed them to the group, then pulled out an RPG to blast it first and ask questions later.

"Plug your ears! Aim for its mouth and fire!"

After speaking rapidly, Luna hoisted the rocket launcher onto her shoulder and hopped onto Rollo’s back.

Kevin Keane followed close behind her. "Little Sweet Potato, you take Evan and Old Man Forrest."

Hearing this, Little Sweet Potato immediately darted onto Evan Olson’s head. "Okay!"

Lynn Shelby grew completely excited, nodding furiously and clapping his hands. "Did this guy eat a giant pig or something? Looking like that!" He showed absolutely no fear of the monster before him.

"It has a huge body and turns slowly. We’ll beat it with speed!" Evan’s fingers moved in a blur as he shoved the earplugs in, speaking as fast as a rolling drumbeat.

Before his words even faded, Luna and Kevin had already pulled the triggers on their RPGs!

BOOM! BOOM!

Two massive explosions practically overlapped as the twin rockets, trailing scorching exhaust flames, smashed precisely into the monster’s bulging chin!

The agonizing pain caused the Tier Four Zombie to abruptly arch its back. Its gargantuan head thrashed wildly, shaking the surrounding trees so violently that the accumulated snow plummeted from the branches, hitting the group’s shoulders with a stinging force!

A deafening roar rolled from its throat, the soundwaves sweeping past along with the frigid wind, leaving everyone’s eardrums ringing. As the fire and smoke rapidly cleared, their hearts sank.

The monster’s chin was completely unscathed!

It clamped its massive mouth tightly shut while the muscles around its neck bulged madly, stretching so taut that the skin glistened!

"Not good! Dodge!" Luna yelled.

BOOM!

The monster abruptly opened its cavernous maw. A compressed fireball the size of a basketball, carrying a monstrous wave of heat, shot toward the tree trunk where they were standing like a cannonball! Wherever the fireball passed, the air itself warped from the extreme heat, and the tree bark instantly charred and smoked!

In the nick of time, Little Sweet Potato’s vines firmly wrapped around Lynn and Evan’s waists. The plant violently lunged forward, leaping nimbly between the tree trunks. The instant they evaded the fireball, the two men took aim, firing their rockets straight at the humanoid, toad-like monster.

On the other side, Rollo had anticipated the attack. The moment the monster began gathering its strength, the beast leaped into the air with Luna and Kevin on its back. Kevin raised his left hand, and purple electricity exploded outward with a CRACKLE, instantly coalescing into a massively thick pillar of lightning!

"You ugly bastard! If you don’t have any skin, don’t come out here and disgust everyone!" Kevin roared. The pillar of lightning struck straight at the monster’s head with a piercing shriek that tore through the air!

Bolts of lightning crashed down like divine punishment, completely enveloping the creature.

The purple arcs of electricity writhed wildly, illuminating the gloomy forest and the side of Kevin’s face. A bloodthirsty smirk curled the corner of his mouth as he kept his left hand pressed downward, an endless torrent of lightning surging from his body. It seemed as if his power would never run dry. The purple lightning surrounding him grew so dense that it nearly solidified into a cocoon of light, making him look exactly like a manic damage-dealer holding nothing back, solely focused on unleashing pure destruction!

HISS!

Struck head-on by the furious lightning, the monster’s surface instantly carbonized into a scorched black. Its sticky bodily fluids evaporated into white steam under the intense heat, and it let out an ear-piercing shriek.

This shriek far exceeded the limits of human endurance. The soundwaves formed faint, black ripples visible to the naked eye, spreading outward in all directions like a tidal wave. The group felt as though their heads had been struck by a heavy hammer, their vision darkening in bursts.

Fighting through the extreme dizziness, Kevin stared fixedly at the monster’s mouth, which was wide open from its screaming. "Now!"

Luna immediately understood and fired another rocket. The projectile drilled perfectly into the monster’s mouth.

With a resounding BOOM, it exploded, sending a scarlet mist of blood, minced flesh, and shattered teeth flying in all directions!

"It’s working! Keep bombing it!" Lynn’s eyes lit up. Completely ignoring the ringing in his ears, he repeatedly pulled the trigger. Rockets flew toward the monster one after another. Even if they couldn’t deal a fatal blow, he was determined to keep its attention firmly locked on him.

Though Rollo was nowhere near the monster’s massive size, the beast was astonishingly agile. Like a blur of black shadow, he charged straight for the monster’s face, his razor-sharp claws glinting coldly as they swiped at its eyes. Before the creature’s giant palm could swat him, Rollo sharply gained altitude. His movements were seamless, toying with the monster as if teasing a cat, yet every strike carved bone-deep gashes into its flesh.

"Rollo! Attack its chin!" Luna shouted, her voice slightly raspy from the biting wind.

In the blink of an eye, Rollo changed direction. His twin claws ruthlessly tore into the muscles at the monster’s chin, which had already been loosened by the explosion!

"Watch out for the blood spray!" Kevin warned.

The moment his warning left his lips...

BANG!

SQUELCH!

The wound on the monster’s chin instantly burst open! A geyser of scarlet gore, mixed with minced flesh and bone fragments, erupted outward, spraying over a ten-meter radius!

Acting almost entirely on instinct, Kevin extended a long arm and instantly pulled Luna securely into his embrace. He was already tall and broadly built, his arm thick enough to encircle more than half of her body. This embrace completely enveloped her within his protective shelter.

Luna felt her entire person being thoroughly shrouded by a solid, scorching-hot body. Her back bumped against his broad chest, which felt as rock-hard as an immovable stone wall. Even the chaotic air currents from the splattering gore were completely blocked by his towering figure.

No matter how fast Rollo was, he couldn’t entirely dodge the blast. Half of his body was splattered with the boiling hot gore. Kevin, positioned on the beast’s back, was thoroughly drenched. The stench of rotting blood assaulted their nostrils, making it smell as though they had just been dragged out of a pile of corpses.

Even though she was shielded by Kevin, some bits of flesh and blood still splattered onto Luna’s exposed left leg, leaving a nauseatingly sticky sensation.

Seizing the opportunity, Little Sweet Potato rushed forward with Lynn and Evan. Countless thick vines stabbed into the wound on the monster’s chin with the precision of venomous snakes. Once firmly rooted, they instantly tore outward in a frenzied pull!

Evan’s voice rang out, "Attack the wound! Don’t stop!" Rockets and superpowers were relentlessly smashed into the gaping gash as if they cost nothing.

The monster roared, spinning wildly in sheer agony. Its massive feet kicked up the accumulated snow on the ground, stamping deep craters into the frozen, rock-hard black earth. With one hand, it frantically tore at the vines wrapping around its body, while its other hand desperately covered the bloody hole in its chin. Yet, it was completely unable to stem the endless tide of pouring blood and excruciating pain.
