The Apocalypse Strikes, I Became a Druid
Chapter 83 Interrogation
Chapter 83: Chapter 82: Interrogation
Golden flames flickered slightly in Han Ning’s Molten Gold Tiger Eyes. He didn’t answer at all.
The puddle beneath his feet exploded as his figure tore through the curtain of rain, instantly closing in on the burly man.
"ROAR!"
The tiger’s roar erupted like a thunderclap. Sound waves, almost tangible, rippled out in all directions. With Han Ning at the center, everyone within a radius of dozens of meters simultaneously froze. The three invaders who had sensed things going south and were preparing to flee bore the brunt of the impact.
"Argh!"
The average-looking man’s attempt to release Spiritual Piercing stalled. Blood shot from his eyes, ears, nose, and mouth simultaneously. The Mental Power he had gathered was forcibly scattered by the domineering tiger’s roar, resulting in a violent backlash. He clutched his head, letting out a shrill, miserable wail.
The scrawny man had just turned to flee and was about to evacuate when he felt an irresistible Spiritual Shock slam brutally into his mind. Seeing stars, his body began to twitch uncontrollably.
The rocky stratum on the short, stout man’s body rippled violently. He tried to raise his arms to block, but his movements were agonizingly slow.
In the brief moment everyone was intimidated by the tiger’s roar...
SWISH SWISH SWISH!
Dozens of dark green vines shot out from around Han Ning like Poisonous Snakes that had been lying in wait.
THWACK THWACK THWACK!
The vines pierced through the bodies of the three men, instantly stripping them of their ability to escape.
Han Ning didn’t pause for a fraction of a second.
BOOM!
He took a step forward. His right fist clenched, muscles bulging, as he smashed directly into the burly man’s hastily raised left arm.
The burly man was prepared. The skin all over his body turned the color of black steel, and a faint black membrane surfaced over his body.
Han Ning’s Tiger Fist collided with that black membrane.
The anticipated sound of bones effortlessly shattering did not ring out. A very faint, almost imperceptible sense of resistance traveled up from the knuckles of his fist, as if punching through a layer of tough rubber.
But it was only a faint trace!
BANG!
Overwhelming force erupted. A mist of blood exploded, mixed with bone fragments and mangled flesh. The towering man’s left arm, along with the black membrane covering it, was forcibly pulverized into airborne gore by this single punch.
"Argh!" The burly man let out a heart-wrenching scream, his body trembling uncontrollably from the agony.
Han Ning showed no mercy. His right leg swept out, lashing against the outer side of the burly man’s left knee.
CRACK!
The teeth-grinding sound of bone shattering was clearly audible. The burly man’s left leg twisted and snapped outward at a grotesque angle. Losing support, his massive body toppled to the left amidst his agonizing screams.
Han Ning continued the sweep of his right leg, viciously stomping down onto the shinbone of the man’s remaining right leg.
CRACK!
Another crisp snap rang out. The right shinbone broke on impact.
The towering man slammed heavily onto the soaking wet deck with a dull thud. With all four of his limbs shattered, only his torso and head were left twitching slightly.
From the moment Han Ning appeared, to his tiger roar intimidating the crowd, the vines instantly taking down three men, and the effortless crippling of the towering man’s limbs—the entire sequence took no more than a dozen seconds.
The deck fell into a dead silence.
Han Ning swept his gaze over the scarred and battered members of the Biyun Association, who were scattered haphazardly across the deck. With a thought...
HUM!
Six vines shot out. But this time, the vines’ targets were not enemies. They coiled around several Awakened of the Biyun Resort on the deck. A soft green halo lit up on the surface of the vines.
"Ugh..."
Chairman Wu only felt a gentle yet abundant warm current flow into his body from where the vines wrapped around him. The severe pain throughout his body miraculously eased by several fractions. He coughed violently twice and spat out a mouthful of clotted blood. His previously ashen face finally showed a trace of vitality.
Healed by Han Ning’s Rejuvenation Technique, the crowd gradually regained some mobility.
"Mr. Han Ning, thank you so much!"
Chairman Wu, Vice President Zhao, and several other Awakened nodded to Han Ning with immense gratitude. Then, Chairman Wu looked up at the other boats where fierce battles were still raging. Fury ignited in his eyes as he gritted his teeth.
"Anyone still breathing, come with me! Let’s crush these bastards once and for all!"
"ROAR!"
"Kill them!"
With the capture of the powerful Awakened led by the towering man, the remaining invaders retreated in defeat under the combined siege of Chairman Wu, the vice presidents, and the Awakened. Their defeat was like a landslide.
BANG!
"Ah!"
Sporadic gunfire was drowned out by the furious roars of the crowd. Soon, all the surviving invaders were tied up tightly and gathered on a single boat. After some discussion, Chairman Wu decided to interrogate this group separately, just as the police would question criminals.
Inside one of the sailboats, in a cramped bedroom.
The towering man and his three subordinates, bound tightly in layers of vines, lay paralyzed on the floor.
Worthy of being an Awakened with a tenacious Life Force, the burly man whose limbs had just been broken by Han Ning had already stopped bleeding. His face was merely a sickly pale, and he looked as though he was clinging to his last breaths.
Han Ning and Chairman Wu were in charge of interrogating them.
"Who are you? Where did you come from? Why did you attack us?" Chairman Wu’s voice carried suppressed anger. "Tell the truth, and I’ll give you a quick end."
The towering man kept his mouth shut tightly. His bloodshot eyes stared fixedly at the ceiling without saying a word.
The scrawny man beside him was the first to break. Feeling Han Ning’s icy gaze, he trembled like a leaf and begged for mercy repeatedly.
"Don’t kill me! I’ll talk, I’ll tell you everything!
"We... we were originally just workers trying to make a living in the west side of Bailu City. There were white-collar workers, self-employed shop owners, construction workers... a bit of everything, all kinds of people."
He spoke rapidly, terrified that if he was too slow, he would lose his chance.
"Later, we Awakened our abilities for various reasons. The general situation should be the same as yours.
"After that, we were gathered together by a man named Sun Wuyan. He was highly capable and utterly ruthless. If you didn’t follow him, you died..."
The scrawny man swallowed hard, his voice trembling.
"We originally settled in a large hotel in the west of the city. There were quite a lot of us, over a hundred Awakened.
"But a while ago... the soldiers in the west clashed with the Black Snake Monster Swarm.
"Because we were nearby, we got caught in the crossfire."
A lingering terror appeared on his face.
"We couldn’t stop them, we couldn’t stop them at all. The strength of those Snake Monsters was too terrifying. Even the hotel was washed away by the flood they controlled. So many people died... and we were scattered."
The scrawny man pointed at the paralyzed, towering man.
"To avoid the Black Snake Monsters, we kept running east until we met you. He is our Captain."
Han Ning furrowed his brow. Soldiers... Didn’t that mean the military? And Sun Wuyan, the Black Snake Monster Swarm... This guy was providing a massive amount of information.
"Is he Sun Wuyan?" Han Ning pointed at the burly man and asked.
The scrawny man shook his head.
"No, no, no. His name is Lei Gang. He is a Captain under Sun Wuyan. Sun Wuyan has a total of six formidable Captains known as the Hexagram, managing over a hundred Awakened and hundreds of ordinary people in total.
"And I... I’m just his deputy."
Hearing this, Han Ning and Chairman Wu couldn’t help but exchange a glance. They had just witnessed Lei Gang’s strength with their own eyes. If placed in the Biyun Resort, Lei Gang would definitely be a top-tier combatant, even stronger than the several presidents.
Yet someone like this... was merely a Captain under that "Boss Sun"?
