Chapter 81: Chapter 80: Eat Shit

"Who goes there?! Stop! Come any closer and we will attack!"

Chairman Wu stood at the bow of the ship, facing the speeding assault boats, and shouted a stern warning.

His voice pierced through the rain, reaching the ears of the people on the assault boats.

Hearing this, a burly man built like a tower crossed his arms, remaining perfectly still as a sinister sneer curled his lips. "Idiots."

BANG!

Suddenly, a loud explosion rang out.

A burst of orange sparks bloomed from his side.

SQUELCH!

Chairman Wu’s body jolted violently as a blinding spray of blood erupted from his chest.

He was thrown back as if struck by a heavy hammer. With an expression of sheer astonishment still plastered on his face, he staggered backward and crashed heavily onto the wet deck.

"Chairman!"

"Fuck, they have guns!"

BANG BANG BANG!

The gunshots grew dense, beating like the drum of the Death God.

The attackers on the assault boats were clearly well-prepared. Drawing various firearms, they opened fire on the people standing on the ships without hesitation.

A dense hail of bullets tore through the veil of rain.

THUD THUD THUD!

Wood splinters flew, the steel hull let out sharp CLANGS, and glass windows shattered on impact!

"Ah!"

Agonized screams echoed one after another.

More than a dozen ordinary survivors who were slightly slower to react were instantly struck by the whistling bullets, their bodies slumping lifelessly to the ground.

Under the cover of gunfire, the distance between the two sides rapidly closed, soon nearing the fifty-meter mark.

"Why do they have guns?" Vice President Zhao’s face turned ashen as he hid behind a thick mast on a neighboring catamaran. He growled at the equally terrified Awakened beside him, "Find cover! Don’t poke your heads out!"

"Brother Zhao, what do we do?!" a young Awakened asked, his voice trembling. His eyes were red as he stared at his fallen companions on the deck.

Vice President Zhao was just about to answer.

Suddenly, Chairman Wu’s agonized roar echoed from the side, "We absolutely cannot let them take the ships! Stop them!"

"Listen to Chairman Wu!" Vice President Zhao shouted back, his expression grave. "Take cover! We’ll take them down once they get closer!"

He picked up a wrench and peeked out to take aim. The muscles in his arm bulged slightly as he hurled it with all his might at a high-speed assault boat charging toward them.

SWISH!

Thrown with tremendous force, the wrench sliced through the air with a fierce whistle, hurtling toward several invaders sitting on the assault boat.

However, the enemies’ reactions were equally swift. Seeing the wrench flying at them, they immediately dodged out of the way.

In an instant, the wrench smashed viciously into the assault boat’s deck, resulting in a loud HISS of leaking air.

It was an inflatable assault boat.

Though their boat was punctured, the attackers grew even more ferocious. They raised their guns and unleashed a barrage of wild fire in the direction of Vice President Zhao’s hiding spot.

BANG BANG BANG!

Bullets struck the mast and hull, sending sparks flying and forcing Vice President Zhao to shrink back behind cover.

"Damn it, you bastards. Better pray I don’t get in close," he cursed, slamming his fist into the deck.

"Hm?" Inside the suite, Han Ning’s expression shifted. He subconsciously put down the Jade Potato in his hand.

Just a moment ago, Snow Cake—who was far away at the temporary docking area protecting Xu Ming—transmitted a series of warning spiritual fluctuations.

"What’s wrong, Snow Cake?"

He immediately focused his mind, using his shared vision with Snow Cake to perceive the situation at the port.

Through their soul link, he clearly "saw" dozens of blurry figures rapidly approaching from outside the ship docking area.

BANG BANG BANG!

The explosive sounds of gunfire rang in his ears.

"Those are guns. Where did these people come from?" Han Ning’s expression instantly turned serious.

It had to be known that the country he lived in before transmigrating had strict civilian gun control.

Yet this group of people actually had guns!

Everyone else was still relying on mutations and cold weapons.

Now, a bunch of guys using firearms had suddenly shown up. How was anyone supposed to deal with that?

"Watching" the Awakened of Biyun Resort being caught completely off guard by the firearms, an internet meme inexplicably crossed Han Ning’s mind.

"Something has happened over at the ship docking area. Professor Ye, stay in your room for now and lock the door. Do not come out no matter what happens," Han Ning decisively instructed.

Then, his gaze swept over Su Mingke. "You, come with me."

"What?" Su Mingke froze, subconsciously asking, "Didn’t you want me to protect Professor Ye?"

Han Ning didn’t waste time on explanations. He simply grabbed her hand and dragged her out.

The reason for bringing Su Mingke along was simple.

One could never be too careful.

Leaving her alone in the rear was too risky. She was an Awakened; if she took the opportunity to hold Professor Ye or Xu Yinyin hostage and escape, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Keeping her by his side made it easier to keep her in check.

He was now fairly certain that Professor Ye had genuine talent and had originally planned to let Su Mingke go back later.

He just hadn’t expected an emergency to crop up.

"Yinyin, stay in your room. Don’t open the door no matter who knocks, you hear me?"

As they passed Xu Yinyin’s room, he had her lock the door and gave her serious instructions.

"Mhm, Yinyin knows!" The little girl poked her head out from behind the door.

"Even if Grandpa Ye comes looking for you, don’t open it," he whispered into Xu Yinyin’s ear, giving her a wink.

"Mhm, mhm!" Xu Yinyin nodded vigorously.

Having settled matters, Han Ning wrapped an arm around Su Mingke’s waist and leaped out from the balcony of the resort hotel.

"Snow Cake, what should we do now? Are there any instructions from the boss?"

On the Wind Chaser Sailing Ship, Xu Ming and Yu Na quietly hid behind the ship’s railing, cautiously watching the two sides clashing not far away. The latter’s face was deathly pale as she asked the question.

ROAR!

Snow Cake bit onto Xu Ming’s pant leg and gently tugged in the direction of the resort.

"The boss means... we should retreat first?"

AROO!

Snow Cake nodded, mimicking its master’s mannerisms.

"Then let’s go, quickly."

Xu Ming and Yu Na exchanged a glance before hurriedly following behind Snow Cake. They jumped off the sailing ship from a blind spot on the other side and swam toward the shallow water.

"That’s a Wind Chaser Sailing Ship, one of the favorite private sailboats among the European wealthy elite. Go secure that ship!"

However, there was no shortage of people among the invaders who recognized the vessel.

They had identified the high-performance Wind Chaser Sailing Ship.

In an instant, a group of four swam over together.

Two of them even held fully automatic rifles in their hands.

"What was that noise?"

Someone in the group noticed the sound of water splashing not far away and immediately raised their muzzle, pointing it in the direction Xu Ming was swimming.

Snow Cake, guarding Xu Ming’s side, sensed an inexplicable threat, and a vicious glint flashed in its eyes.

It opened its mouth silently, brewing a mass of tri-colored light within.

SWISH!

Before the armed invader opposite them could even react, his head was instantly pierced by a beam of light, and he fell lifeless.

"It’s an Awakened! Kill them!"

The remaining three were horrified. One of them raised his gun, about to open fire.

The other two paddled through the water, speeding up to close the distance.

"Who are you looking for?"

The very next instant, a deep male voice suddenly echoed in the ears of the three men.

"?!"

They all turned their heads in unison.

Welcoming them were three rapidly expanding vines.

SQUELCH! SQUELCH! SQUELCH!

The vines pierced through their foreheads and exited the backs of their skulls, bringing with them a spray of blood.

"Ugh..."

The light of life faded from their eyes.

"Boss?" "Han Ning!" "Aroo~"
