The Apocalypse Strikes, I Became a Druid
Chapter 131 Thunder Marsh Mink
Chapter 131: Chapter 130: Thunder Marsh Mink
It was worth noting that this entire mountain was likely an artificial rockery. Han Ning had observed that very few patches of natural soil or vegetation from the Earth before their transmigration had been brought along. Masking his presence, he blended into the curtain of rain and quietly advanced toward the direction guided by the will of nature.
His target area was clearly located within the military encampment. However, his movements were highly stealthy. Bypassing the patrolling soldiers and using the structures as cover, he arrived at a relatively secluded area within the gathering zone at the mountain’s peak.
This place seemed to be the living quarters for the logistics personnel. In the limited space, more than a dozen makeshift structures stood out abruptly among the European-style buildings. Around these temporary shelters, several simple planting sheds could be seen, along with busy figures bustling in and out.
Just as he was about to find a suitable spot to commune with the Beast Spirits, the side door of a building was pushed open. A few men and women, wearing clean clothes and appearing to be in relatively good spirits, walked out. Conversing in low voices and carrying various tools, they headed toward the nearby planting sheds.
Han Ning’s gaze swept over them and slightly narrowed. He found two of them somewhat familiar. After a brief moment of thought, he remembered—they seemed to be teachers from the Agricultural and Forestry University.
He wondered if they had been transferred here. Then, it dawned on him. In this apocalyptic world, once the immediate threat of being hunted by monsters was temporarily resolved, talents who mastered agricultural planting techniques were undoubtedly a precious resource. Some people in the military must have discovered them and invited them here to gather in one place, most likely sharing the same thought as Han Ning. It was only natural to put them in charge of researching how to grow crops in harsh environments to ensure the food supply. After all, everyone had their own specialties.
Han Ning stopped paying attention to them, as they had nothing to do with his goal for this trip. He looked around to confirm there were no hidden sentries or patrols nearby, then slipped into a secluded, deserted spot. This place was dark and damp, piled high with damaged debris. He plunged his hands into the freezing ground and lightly touched his forehead to the mud. His Mental Power extended from his forehead, passing through the artificial mountain and spreading deep into the ground as he attempted to commune with the Earth.
A moment later, the vast will of the Earth descended once again.
Within the chaotic darkness, numerous Beast Spirits floated like stars. The brightest among them, with lightning dancing along its edges, was none other than the Thunder Marsh Mink guided by the will of nature!
Han Ning observed it with his Mental Power, confirming that the Thunder Marsh Mink was indeed the most powerful Beast Spirit in this region. Its Level was the same as the Molten Gold Battle Tiger’s, with an upper limit reaching Level 25. Without any hesitation, Han Ning released his Mental Power to make contact with the beast’s silhouette.
The instant his mental tendrils touched it, a tremendous suction force dragged him into a chaotic, primordial body of water.
This time, he transformed into a slender young mink covered in slick, aquatic-blue short fur. In the waterweeds ahead, a plump hagfish squirmed slowly. He lunged clumsily, the water current slipping past his sides, and crashed headfirst into a jagged reef. Salty seawater flooded his nose and mouth, bringing an intense sensation of suffocation. Amidst his struggles, he caught a glimpse of a millstone-sized crab brandishing its massive pincers. Emerging from the crevices of the reef, its claws sparked with faint blue electric arcs as they snapped straight toward his fragile spine...
The scene shattered and reconstructed.
He was now an adult Thunder Marsh Mink, being cornered by three snake eels covered in bone spurs within a narrow Coral reef passage. On the verge of death, some hidden power awakened within him. Wisps of electric light surfaced around his body as he turned into a flash of lightning, forcefully squeezing through the gaps of the snake eels’ strangulation. His sharp claws tore into the nearest snake eel’s eyeball, sending boiling, foul-smelling blood spurting...
The Spiritual Shock brought by countless "deaths," accompanied by the agonizing pain of lightning tearing through his nerves, assaulted Han Ning’s mind.
Last time, when his Mental Power and Spiritual Power were low, fusing with the Molten Gold Battle Tiger’s Beast Spirit had tortured him half to death. Now, however, he was no longer the same. It was painful, but still within a tolerable range. He even had the spare capacity to release a trace of Mental Power to observe his surroundings. He clearly remembered that fusing with a Beast Spirit last time had taken a whole day and night. The current environment was far more dangerous than before, so he had to be extra vigilant.
SQUEAK SQUEAK!
Finally, a Thunder Marsh Mink with blue-and-white fur let out a cry toward him, turning into a streak of lightning that charged straight at him. It was as if it was plunging right into his body.
HONG LONG!
It felt as if a Thunderbolt had detonated at the core of Han Ning’s Spirit. The phantom of the Thunder Marsh Mink condensed into a ray of lightning, piercing deep into the center of his brow.
In reality, Han Ning opened his eyes, his body trembling slightly as if undergoing electroshock therapy. Between his brows, a mink-shaped mark outlined by dancing blue-and-white electric arcs lit up. The bright electric light pierced through the curtain of rain, illuminating the corner in a deep blue glow.
[Beast Spirit Mark: Thunder Marsh Mink has been branded!]
[Beast Form (Middle Level) - Currently brandable Beast Spirits: (2/3)]
Han Ning panted heavily, calming the negative effects brought by the Beast Spirit fusion. With a subtle shift in his thoughts, he activated the newly branded lightning mink-head mark within his Spiritual World.
BZZT BZZT BZZT!
Amidst the surfacing lightning, Han Ning’s body elongated visibly. Blue short fur grew across his skin. The bones in his limbs stretched, and his muscle lines became streamlined and packed with explosive power. Tough webbed membranes sprouted between his fingers, ending in hook-like sharp claws. His spine was reinforced to the extreme, and a long tail—almost as long as his body, covered in dense short fur, and burning with a small cluster of silver-white electric arcs at the tip—burst through his pants and swayed behind him.
His facial bones contracted slightly, and his muzzle elongated into a faintly curved snout. His eyes morphed into those of a mink, with silver-blue electric light slowly swirling within the pupils, as if a Thunderbolt was being created and destroyed.
The entire process took merely two seconds. A creature about 1.8 meters tall, covered in aquatic-blue short fur, standing completely in the form of a mink, appeared in the wind and rain.
[You are now in the complete form of the Thunder Marsh Mink. Spiritual Power is in a state of continuous consumption.]
[Spiritual Power: 123/180 (100)]
[Mental Power: 3.7/6 (3.5)]
[In the Thunder Marsh Mink state, the Talent ’Thunderbolt’ is awakened. You have additionally acquired the Skills ’Thunder Clone (Basic Level)’ and ’Thunder Fang (Basic Level)’.]
The complete form of the Thunder Marsh Mink wasn’t as massive and domineering as the Molten Gold Battle Tiger. Its physical strength and Mental Power were also somewhat inferior. However, its control over Energy and its speed were a tier higher than those of the Molten Gold Battle Tiger. Plus... it was slightly cuter.
Han Ning felt the Spiritual Power surging within his body. His thick, streamlined lower limb muscles were equally well-developed, containing terrifying explosive springing force, while his long tail swayed slowly behind him, arcs of electricity dancing upon it.
He lowered his body slightly, the muscles in his hind legs instantly pulling taut like a fully drawn bow.
WHOOSH!
The gentle breeze rippled. Only a slowly dissipating, distorted blue afterimage remained on the spot. Han Ning’s figure had already appeared on the side of an abandoned building, at least fifty meters away from where he had just been standing.
